Mt. Rainier National Park now requires reservations | FOX 13 Seattle 

Dear lord, I found this video by accident.. thank goodness I did. I've got my first trip to hike there in 20 years booked for this summer with my family and I had no idea I now needed to create reservations! I can't imagine the disappointment if I got there and got turned away.

Our taxes pay for roads to drive through/ on.

just because you have a reservation doesn’t mean they’ll be respectful to the environment

I AM 78 MY OLDER SISTER IS TURNING 90.....WE HAVE LIVED IN THE SHADOW OF THE MOUNTAIN ALL OUR LIVES.....AND NOW WE ARE BEING TOLD THAT WE CANNOT GO UP TO ENJOY IT AS WE USSUALY DO SEVERAL TIMES A YEAR ? HOGWASH !!!

Does this serve the purposes of equity?

Just close the roads and make people hike up there. That'll thin the crowds down real quick.

All the do gooders have ruined it. Now only the cell phone obsessed can get a reservation.

I hate the large crowds but this ruins the call to nature aspect like that one guy tweeted. I grew up in Ashford where you could walk into the park from my backyard. I love and know this mountain on a whole different level than most. And only having so many spots available is very ridiculous. I’ve volunteered at the park, help repair trails and donated money to that park and now I can’t just go when I want because why? Only real reason I can see this being necessary as far as the government stands, is that they want to know the peoples names and info who is going into the park. I’m a tax payer and it’s non of their business if I want to go walk around in the woods that I grew up in. This hurts the businesses in Ashford that depend on those large crowds too

They did this in Colorado and it is an absolute Sh!t show!!! Now City, County and State parks are doing the same. Basically everyone who lives in the state cant use the parks they pay for in Taxes!! That is unless you schedule months ahead. Next they will eliminate ALL camping without reservations. Yes. Colorado did that also..and so will Washington. 😢

Won't be visiting or supporting any local businesses and hotels during 'reservation season' there. Way to absolutely destroy any hopes of spontaneous day trips/overnight trips there. Too many fees as is, and I though National Parks were supposed to be for everyone. Don't be fooled into thinking people will respect the park more; now they'll just make an appointment to walk off trail; destroy meadows during meteor showers, etc. never enough staff there to monitor anything important. Thanks for ruining this, MRNP!

Nice pretend hikers ruined it. You can't go anywhere anymore and enjoy it. Now you pay for everything its already bad enough having us pau for "backcountry passes" and "camping premits". Its ridiculous we should be able to enjoy the outdoors without these stupid fees. We should able to just camp anywhere in the mountains like it was back in the good ol days. If its untouched land what do you need money? You ain't touching it or doing anything with it. So why do you need my money? Its the outdoors here.
