Your comments about people in the physics world and other niches thinking that they are better than everyone else is so true. The majority of scientists nowadays have no system to ontologically ground their niche and its reliability. They think they are the whole and ignore the very foundations and presuppositions of the sciences. It is inconsistent. Many of them ignore philosophy and many also admit that they do so.

Good content. It's funny how historically more right wing/traditional/conservative authors were realistic about the nature of power and the cultural milieu while more liberal people acted like their views were just because of their own big brain. You see this dynamic between defenders of Catholicism and protestantism too of course.

Believe it or not, this isn't the first time I see the whole "atheist clergy" theory. I went to an International High School in Indonesia and my English teacher (who is a white Canadian dude who converted to Islam) brought up this idea. Growing up Protestant, I didn't think much of it. Perhaps in my ignorance, I thought the idea to be at least possible. Now as a Catholic, I know that this "theory" is pure nonsense. Based on what I know of the Saints, the Popes, and so on, there's just no way that this "theory" can even be remotely true.

It’s just a cope by modern atheists to attempt to (falsely) demonstrate some sort of historical presence of atheism in high ranks of religious circles. It’s a dishonest argumentative tactic to attempt to invalidate religion, and if you begin to learn the slighest bit about the saints, you’ll know it’s bs. I feel like another form of it also has also began to infiltrate into modern religious circles as well, because many people hear the saints’ emphasis that God is not a “being among beings” and misrepresent it as the saints saying that God doesn’t actually exist. Many intelligent minds have fallen into this type of thinking as well. I’ve seen this creeping up in the circles with Peterson, Pagueau, Vervaeke, Vanderklay, and those people. Some of the people in those circles try to re-brand it as “non-theism” rather than “atheism” but what is really the difference?
