2 nights 3 days Backpacking trip including watching a sunrise at Highest Mountain in contiguous US.
Day 1: Whitney Portal to Trail camp- 6.5 miles/ 3,700ft Elevation Gain
Day 2: Trail camp to Mount Whitney Summit to Outpost Campground.
Trail Camp to summit- 5 miles/2.500ft Gain.
Day 3: Outpost Campground to Whitney Portal - 4 miles

Beautiful Trails and Gorgeous Sunrise at the Highest Peak in contiguous US was an life time experience.
Getting up at 1:54 am to watch the sunrise sounds insane but it was totally worth it.
Tips
1. No mosquitos . Leave your bug net and repellent at home.
2. Even in August, the summit was below freezing especially in the morning. Coldest part of my body were my fingers. I would recommend bringing thick gloves.
3.Plenty water sources till Trail Campground. Don't need to carry heavy load from the beginning.

Boy, there are a zillion MW videos out there; this one was one of the most enjoyable videos I've seen. It was so calm and peaceful; and included so much scenery. Beautiful!

@@jinsjewelry Sure! I did MW some years back, the Mountaineers Route, with a professional outfitter. Went well! But several years before that, I went the regular route; it was September and all of us at Trail Camp got slammed with a crazy rogue blizzard and could not go any further the next morning, in fact, we had to wait for a more experienced party to lead us down safely out of there. Oh what an ordeal! I have my permit application in for a few August dates this year. I want to try the regular route again.

I am almost speechless with joy. Your big smile says it all. I was on the verge of tears most of this video. It brought back such wonderful memories. My first year hiking in 2017 I did the High Sierra Trail from Giant Forest to Whitney. I did not realize at the time how special it was to summit. I just knew it was part of my route so I did it. haha It took me one week to cross the Sierra and exit the portal. Since then I have met a lot of people who have tried and turned back because of altitude sickness. I now realize how lucky I was to get up there. You always give such a great over view of your trail and trips. What a great adventure to share with the family. I really can't say enough how much I LOVE your videos. I can see all the excitement in your big smile and your excited voice. I'm so happy for you and thanks for making this one a little extra long. It made MY DAY Jina.

Wow! You did High sierra in 2017? That is great! I really want to do that section. I saw some hikers who were really struggling with altitude sickness during that hike. I really feel lucky to finish it with my family :) You have JMT coming up, right? I wish u good luck and stay safe! 😍👍

How many miles to the summit from the campsite? How long it takes to summit? I’m a very slow hiker. Did you left the pack at the campsite?

Hi 👋 I have AllTrail link in the description. Trail camp to Whitney summit is 6 miles. And as you can see from my video, I left everything at the campsite. I only took water, snacks and extra jackets. It took 4 hours for me to reach the summit from Trail camp.

AWESOME!! i did the summit awhile back and since then have returned to go up to Trail Crest a few times, i love the hike but the summit is Tough!! //we've been really lucky with permits so i took a couple years off to give others a chance//weird the door is gone from the Hut! i wonder what happened/ such a beautiful place, you made a Great Video of it thanks for taking us with you and Congratulations for the Summit!
