(First) Nice. Can you do a video on the basics of dimple locks? Your video about Jiggle Test was the video that gave me the best info on picking pin tumblers. I still go back and watch it when I'm in a slump. I also make it a link when I'm on a site and people and people ask for help. I noticed it has a lot more views than your others and STILL NO DISLIKES!!! Also, can u recommend a decent lock pick set for dimples? I'm trying to purchase a set. I'm on disability and trying to make ends meet. This hobby can really be therapeutic in helping develop physical dexterity and mental Zen ?, if you know what I mean.
Hey thanks for the kind words. Yeah a dimple video could be a good idea. I'll think on it for a while and try to come up with an angle. I haven't used these dimple picks myself, but people whose opinions I respect are consistently recommending the HUK set. If I had nothing and didn't want to spend a trillion dollars on the multipicks, then I'd get these: gosolockpicks.com/product/huk-10-dimple-lock-picks (You don't have to use this link. They're often on ebay too) Apparently, they're the best value at the entry level because they're usable with minimal modification right out of the box. Something that definitely can't be said about the set that I have. If you have some needle files or a dremel, then you'll definitely want to thin the front and back edges of the flags so you can slide them in and out of the lock a little easier (think of sharpening a shovel). I have the Goso pick set with a bunch of interchangeable tips and one handle. That was a mistake and no one should buy it. One handle sucks because it's pretty common that you'll need to switch back and forth between multiple picks. And the tips suck because they need TONS of shaping before they're remotely usable. I also have the Sparrows black flags, and they're ok. They're too bendy and the handles are too small. They still come in handy and I'm glad that I have them (mostly because I only have one goso handle ...) If they were $10 cheaper then they'd be a good deal.
Yea I have the sparrow black flags for my first set and never picked dimples before this ,got with it a rekey security pin in pin lock always wanted to try it. I got it open in about 8 mins or so was a lot of fun is now my favorite lock but sometimes when setting inner drivers I want to just push up on the pin but I can’t because they bend too easy. I really would like an mt5 to try my hand at sliders either in a deadbolt or lock but I don’t know what to get and what has that core, and at a decent price. Can you recommend anything? Also what is that tapping thing you do with the pin in pin chambers are you tapping up or the side of the pin?
