TGoodman The W was the most reliable line during rush hour. Without it, most Broadway commuters are stuck with the Q, and not that many are in love with that line. And it's a shame, because the Q is one of my favorite Routes in the subway system. I also wish the MTA would bring the V back. Maybe if they ever plan to expand the 2nd Ave Subway they can study about it.....

@@VinceHere98 Before it was possible to send the Q to Astoria to replace the W during budget cuts. Now if they are to remove the W train again, then the only way to get to Astoria is the N train because the Q goes via second avenue.

@Saturn3D, lemme explain. The M was brown between 1979 and 2010. The reason why it's orange now, is because of budget cuts. Back in 2009, they were thinking of replacing the M with the V. 4 years before, the V went to Brooklyn, near the Brown M. 2010 was rolling in and they were still deciding on what the new plans were. March 2010 came and they announced that the V would be replaced by the Orange M, and to be honest; the route is complicated. Once you get the hang of it, you'll know that the Orange M's terminus is 70 miles from the other terminus. Anyways, on June 25, 2010; they discontinued the V and the W. Since June 25, 2010; the M has remained orange, and the W came back. 2022 UPDATE: removed a part mentioning Michael Jackson

SIR is its own subway. its still apart of the MTA though.

There is no announcement for that. SIR trains only operate in the borough of Staten Island and MTA subway trains only operate in Brooklyn, Bronx, Manhattan, and Queens.

Imagine if the Metropolitan Transport Authority placed some R160s and R179s on the SIR? They would get the new person for the announcements.

Actually a 9 train did exist and was in service many years ago I recommend looking into the history of the 9 train as it's pretty interesting as well as the other defunct services like the V, and K

Since then, the (V) has been discontinued and the (M) has been moved to the Sixth Avenue Line (orange), and the (W) was brought back to life just recently after being discontinued several years ago. Plus, the (9) skip-stop rush hour express with the (1) was also discontinued ages ago.
