hi dear i have an mcu version STM32, i can istall it?

Hello, will this work for any Android Headunit, regardless of mcu? I own a px5 Seicane headunit still on Android 9 and would love to upgrade and change the rom, if possible without risking a bricked unit.

I would never say it's a 100% certainty that it will work but they seem to be interchangeable no matter the MCU. Just make sure not to touch the MCU software. The ROMs run on the RockChip SoCs and the MCU controls the stereo and other hardware of the unit (which is what differs between them). This method is also a recovery method for bricked units. Just make sure you have the official firmware for your unit first before you try anything

Can I also use this method if there is already hal9k 4.0 based on android 9 installed?

Yes. This method works no matter the build you're on. However, it will erase everything

Is there a way I can remove hal9k and go back to original system

If you have the original firmware, yes. You can flash any firmware with this method. It doesn't have to be exclusively Hal9k Mod. I linked a collection of firmwares in the description but depending on your unit, you might need to request the original firmware from your provider

Late to the pary here.. I have an xtrons px5 unit (MTCE_GS_V2.78_3) on android 8 Just wondering if this option is the best for upgrading? Any reviews on the benefits/features? (Any loss of features?) My unit is pretty slow, and I have the bare minimum installed, so hoping this might be an alternative

It's been awhile since I've been on Android 8 on a MTCE unit. I remember I upgraded my Eonon PX5 unit to Hal9k mod Android 9 and it was smoother. As far as features go, they are all fairly similar unless you have some manufacturer specific features on the rom you're on (but updating to a newer Xtrons rom should have them too). If you're having sluggish performance, I would upgrade the rom. I remember Android 9 being a big jump in efficiency/smoothness when it came out (at least on phones). Then if you root the unit or use a pre-rooted ROM like Hal9k mod or Malaysk you can tweak the unit to make it more zippy with kernel tweaks, schedulers, etc

@@icemint_asa7606 awesome, thanks! I'll find the xtrons update to android 9 and see how it goes from there. Appreciate it!

can be any usb A to usb A cable?
@icemint_asa7606

Any USB-A to USB-A that supports supports data transfer. However, most Headunits only supports one of it's usb ports that will be recognized when in that mode

firmware not .img but .zip
@icemint_asa7606
@icemint_asa7606 2 года назад
Hal9k Mod is a zip, yes. You'll need to download one of the ROMs from the ROMs link I shared that is a full IMG (not an OTA). Just make sure it's for your processor (px3, px4, px5, px6) and on Android 10. Only Full IMG ones will work because they have the recovery included, which OTAs and ZIP don't. After installing it, you can update using the Hal9k zip like normal

@@icemint_asa7606 thanks for the answer and for your help, I have a px6 processor (dasaita) and its firmware (android10) is .zip (if I open it there are many files inside it besides 2 .img files) how do I solve? thanks for your help and guidance.

So it doesn't seem to matter that much which firmware you choose as long as it's for a PX6. Mine is a GS PX6 and you can see I used an HCT ROM. MCU updates are the ones that are picky. Have you tried unzipping the ROM? Sometimes they have an IMG file in two zip layers but there's also a part to add individual images in the tool I used. It just didn't go well for me when I tried it but I did only try to flash one img. It could have been that I edited that IMG too (I don't remember). If it fails, you're back to downloading an .IMG ROM anyway to fix it. So it could save you some time if it does succeed. It also might be possible to flash only the Recovery img with it then flash Hal9k Mod v5 in Recovery. That's really what we're doing in this method. We're just changing the recovery to Android 10 so it will boot an Android 10 ROM

@@icemint_asa7606 Thanks for the explanation but I'm afraid to do some tests ... I'm not very experienced and I wouldn't want to find myself with a piece of iron ....... you had a lot of courage to insert a ROM not specifically for your tablet, what you write to help me I do not understand (for my ignorance) ....... Request ? I used an HCT ROM .img(android10) later can I update with the HA ROM.zip (android 10)? Does the HTC ROM allow it? Thanks again ....
