See, this is why the old planeswalkers creep me the heck out. Their vision is so grand that they forget who they crush underfoot when they fight. They're like huge elephants destroying everything without knowing or caring. Even Nahiri, who cares soooo much about Zendikar, is willing to throw an entire plane of people and creatures onto the chopping block for petty revenge.
@jondeoliveira8248
@jondeoliveira8248 8 лет назад
They had godlike power but not godlike empathy. It is a bit of a cautionary tale about flawed people, like all of us, having too much power on their hands.

I agree. Old planeswalkers are a poignant reminder that mortals who become gods are creatures to be feared.

Well, technically it is all Sorin's fault that Zendikar was nearly destroyed. Instead of taking the hour or two to check on the Eye of Ugin with Nahiri, or at least explain why he couldn't up and leave Innistrad right that second, he pretty much told her to f*** off. Nahiri stood her ground and was prepared have him uphold his end of the promise by force. Sorin responded by locking her away in the Helvault, where she could do nothing to prevent the seal on the Eldrazi Titans from being fully undone. The moment Liliana destroyed the Helvault and set everything inside free, the first thing Nahiri did was check on Zendikar. What she saw was her home on the verge of total annihilation with almost no hope of being saved. Because she wasn't there to defend it for a thousand years, all thanks to Sorin. It was at this moment that she made her pledge that Innistrad would bleed and Sorin would weep. She would make sure Sorin felt all the pain and suffering and loss that she did in that exact moment. Countless lives on Zendikar were lost because Sorin decided to cop out of his responsibility. Nahiri was merely invoking the age-old custom of an eye for an eye.

I am personally on Sorrin's side, Nahiri is blinded by vengeance and doesn't realize that destroying Innistrad will only threaten the entire multiverse, something that Sorrin has been trying to protect.

This was awesome. Nahiri is justified as long as Sorin doesn't die especially since she retaliated so brutally and completely.
@christopherhaines2260
@christopherhaines2260 8 лет назад
Well, Olivia pulled a "Starscream" and Sorin gets a turn at being encased in stone. Should Sorin get free, Olivia's days are numbered. Sorin most likely comes from a family where showing weakness is forbidden. That would help explain why he treated Nahiri that way. Nahiri, however, saw it as a betrayal. After being freed and seeing the Eldrazi "eating" her home was a bit too much for her, and she reacted before learning everything that happened on Zendikar. Both of them could have handled it better...
@jasebtezz81
@jasebtezz81 7 лет назад
Nahiri is not justified. Sorin had no idea that the Helvault would interfere with the signal. She should have taken the compliment that she did a good job sealing away the Eldrazi by herself, and made other arrangements to get the signal to him. Instead she becomes worse than she thinks he is.
@jasebtezz81
@jasebtezz81 7 лет назад
So summoning one of the Eldrazi to literally kill everyone on the plane is the answer? That makes her worse than Sorin ever was because she's doing it as a tantrum. She's like a toddler that's throwing a tantrum, but the results of her tantrum would have been the annihilation of Innistrad if not for the Gatesworn.
@sephimaru2198
@sephimaru2198 7 лет назад
Sorin should not have mocked Nahiri or thrown her into the helvault. Maybe Nahiri's personal argument against Sorin isn't justified, but I still think that Sorin deserves the evil that comes upon him for killing so many people as consequences of his selfish actions.This is also represented in his whole being. He is a vampire that feeds on humans and only wants humans to live on as a species to serve as food stock.
@sephimaru2198
@sephimaru2198 7 лет назад
+Michael Foulke Summoning the Eldrazi was over the top, however her anger towards Sorin is comprehendable. Nahiri is not innocent anymore, but it was Sorin who pushed her to the edge, when failing to explain himself and taunting her instead. Anyway, there is no real point in defending either of them now.
@jasebtezz81
@jasebtezz81 7 лет назад
I haven't heard more about them after the Gatesworn locked away the Eldrazi. Do we know if any of them let sorin out? Or what's going on with Nahiri now?

I'm not very sure how vampires work in MTG but shouldn't Nahiri be dead or at least become a vampire after being bitten in the neck? Also didn't Sorin go back to Zendikar in Rise of the Eldrazi to fight them with Nissa? Why didn't he just say to Nahiri something like "you're going crazy for no reason. I had a plane to rule over and even went back to your crappy Zendikar to fight the big 3 without you and Ugin".

I love how this set and its story is coming along, I especially love the card Nahiri's Wrath and how much madness it can enable for Vampire decks, which is a bit ironic considering Nahiri's hatred for Sorin
@BloodDracolich
@BloodDracolich 8 лет назад
Nahiri's anger might have been understandable at first, but she lost mind when she decided to pull that stunt by calling that beast. Plus, she is one to talk about leaving planes to their fate when she finally escaped the helvault, return to Zedekiar and found the titian active on it, and simply up and left the plane in disgust with Sorin; simply leaving her own plane to its grim fate at that point.

Nahiri is crazy and went too far. Pure and Simple. She has let her rage consume her and has become a villain imo on par with Bolas. Destroying planes for personal gain. But that's my view; she has stripped herself of white mana imo

@kappaross6124
@kappaross6124 8 лет назад
Look, I don't care whether or not you think she deserved the punishment. Nahiri's finely calculated plan, fueled by rage that has been simmering for actual thousands of years, is anything but a tantrum. A guy that gets put in jail coming out of jail and murdering the person who put him there is not "just having a tantrum," that's cold, calculated murder. I'm not saying Nahiri's justified, far from it, but calling it a tantrum is simply a misrepresentation of the situation.

It is hard to say if he deserved it. He did in a way deserved being stuck in stone just as he did to her with the helvault. We don't know what Nahiri next plan is but we will see. These lore stories should become a movie maybe a movie per plane or two per plane if there is enough content. I really believe since movie for MTG would be great to see and could bring more people into magic.

I think Nahiri traveled to Zendikar to see it a last time, and realizes that it isn't destroyed. With that knowledge she would maybe come back to Innistrad to either help the Gatewatch to make up for her mistake, or to fight them so they can't take away her revenge on Sorin! All speculation of course, since we don't even know where she went, but that would be an interesting outcome for the story, especially if she comes back to help!

These two battling has been my favorite stories since Noyan Dar, the merefolk with a mouth. I believe that Nahiri is justified in only what she dies to Sorin, not in what she has done to Innistrad. If she would have left Sorin in stone and then sealed Emrakul in the moon, she could havr been called a hero even. But as it stands, she is a villian.

All of this could've been averted, avacyns death, emrakuls summoning, nahiris vengeance if sorin and nahiri would've sat down and explained things to one another when nahiri originally visited innistrad.

7:35 Actually, it was NOT the first time she had seen him feed. The article says "It wasn't the first time she'd seen him feed, but he'd never looked quite so monstrous as he did at that moment. And that's what he was, a monster."

I don't think Nahiri's thirst for vengeance is over. She'll be back.

I was hoping burn from within was Sorin on that art. Even after she summoned Emrakul he still did not even try to deal with Emrakul but instead only cared about his personal vengence. I hope he is eternally stuck in that stone and used as a coat rack for the Voldarins after Emrakul gets trapped to the moon (as you said I think Nahiri did not leave the plane).

Nahiri went overboard, but the "end" was appropriate for Sorin.

Sorin is one of my favorite planeswalkers! I'm sad to see he wasn't able to finish Nahiri...

This was a really cool chapter. I'm sure Sorin will get out. Will be interested to see where or if he finds Nahiri is

I happy that Nahiri, Sorin and Ermakul are surviving Eldritch Moon. Maybe now she will search Ugin in more peaceful way

Sorin lost it and lost the battle as a result. I did enjoy how powerful he was even without his magic working.

It is amazing how Nahiri can redirect magic being able to manipulate stone. I think Sorin had this coming by being so worried about his own home and breaking the promise to the other planeswalkers.

Sorin didn't break any promise. That's the Problem. Sorin had no idea the Hellvault/Avacyn combo would prevent the signal rom reaching Innistrad. After imprisoning Nahiri he did go to Zendikar and guided Nissa with the goal of recreating the seal on teh Eldrazi you know before Nissa said fuck that shit and freed them. Then he rushed imediatly to Tarkir where he founf Ugin DEAD. After Sarkhan remade history, Sorin returned to Tarkir and freed Ugin from his eternal sleep. After that he returned to Innistrad to get Nahiri so that they could trap the Eldrazi again on the orders of Ugin , even though he HATED that idea, AND that's where SoI starts. And he did all this shit because he knew that the Eldrazi would eventualy come to his world and consume it.
