Was playing this deck against a buddy on Xmage before deciding to buy it. Hangerback walker made me 15830 thopters and promptly crashed both our clients........10/10 would crash client again. TCG here I come. @TheManaSource

Thanks for creating this video Wedge. I bought the Breed Lethality Commander Pre Con, and I love the play style of the deck itself with +1/+1 Counters flying everywhere and all that. However, I wasn't comfortable with making Atraxa my Commander. Every other person at my LGS who bought Breed Lethality upgraded their Atraxa decks into infinitely better versions than anything I could come up with or even afford. I've played against Infect, Super Friends, and just generally good +1/+1 Counter decks that were hilariously outside of my budget, and I realized that if I upgraded my own Atraxa deck, it would just be a strictly worse version of theirs. Not to mention variety would be thrown out the window since nearly everybody in my LGS wanted the get Breed Lethality in the first place, myself included. I started using Reyhan, Last of the Abzan and Ishai, Ojutai Dragonspeaker Partnered together, of course, and I liked how easily the two synergized with the deck, not to the same extent as Atraxa obviously. It's been especially fun since not everybody has played with Partner Commanders before, so playing with the two was an adventure to everybody else who haven't seen anything like it before. Because of this, I got the idea of building an Abzan Counter deck using Partner Commanders. I've been putting it off for a while now, but suddenly this video pops up in my Subscription Feed. This video contained pretty much everything I was looking for in the first place, a budget Abzan build using my favorite synergies. It's just great for a guy who isn't quite interested in building around one of the traditional 4-Color Commanders, opting for the one underrated Partner combinations instead.

It's cool to see the partners getting some love. My idea for an abzan partner build was Tymna the Weaver plus Sidar Kondo. Attacking everyone with small evasive dudes and drawing 4ish cards each turn.

I built Reyhan/Ravos last week. I couldn't find any decklists, so it's reassuring to see I didn't botch the build. I went a tad wider with Mer-ek nightblade and the like. And then threw in cards I just want to play, Meren, Anafenza, Skullbriar, Creakwood Leige, and Doomgape. These commanders really speak to the inner Timmy.

I wanted to throw in some upgrade paths for those who know this video is now nearing a decade old. And I still love this deck, it's still one of my favorite commander decks and that's why I want to give some paths. I won't cover what to take out though some choices are pretty obvious. Let's start with ramp. I go hard on the sac so finding more yav elder effects are nice. I'd recommend also adding Diligent Farmhand and Sakura Tribe Elder. I'd also upgrade sac outlets, my favorite currently is Attrition. My last upgrade is in the counters and fatties. I'd recommend adding Branching Evolution, Sovereign Okinec, Doubling Season. We have some better options with the fatties as well with Voracious Hydra, Kalonian Hydra, and Primordial Hydra since they all work toward doubling counters again. I also threw in Genesis Hydra since it's always fun to hit X 40 on it. Also added Gargos since most of the deck is hydras anyway we might as well go full tilt. Most of these should be pretty budget friendly picks as well though not all. Pick and choose and have fun! Hail Hydra!

love the deck! Super cool and honestly probably better than buying the pre-con in power vs price. Another interesting option I have Been thinking of is Tana +Sidar zerg deck with Saprolings acting as the "zerg" (naya has the best saproling production anyway) and maybe have them as some added fuel (Thromok to end games, altars toget mana out of them, skullclamp for card draw, ect).

Interesting. Build my own not-so-budget version and I am very happy about it. Let me Suggest few great cards: Blade of Selves - combo with Reyhan. Attach, attack, get numerous triggers from multiple Reyhan when they die due to legendary rule and make it humongous Avenger of Zendikar - green autoinclude. Also counters! Oketra, Rhonas and Predator Ooze - perfect indestructible creatures to playce your counters on after wrath Cathar’s Crusade - come on, auto-include Austere Command - great staple, every W deck should run it Qasali Pridemage - perfect for reccursion without a sac outlet Scavanging Ooze - more counters and grave hate Vish Kal, Blood Arbiter - an absolute beast in this deck, can’t recommend enough Other goodies: Aura Shards, Aceticism, Ajani Goldmane, Gavony Township, Vault of the Archangel, Winding Constrictor, Spike Weaver, Sheoldred

Eldrazi Displacer can blink Reyhan and trigger it if you redirect Reyhan to the command zone. Since Eldrazi Displacer doesn't say "return the exiled card", it will see Reyhan in the command zone and return it from there. Also, if you include Workhorse....

I am so, so happy that I already own 90% of this deck list.

Seriously love this deck. built a variant. I do t care if I never win with it, I love having 30/30's that scare the table. gotta say, my fav sac outlet is EVOLUTIONARY LEAP!!!! so shocked wedge never put that one in this deck!

I think Drana, Liberator of Malakir would be a great addition to it too. More counters on your creatures, she has flying and first strike.

Finally! Someone posts my deck online, almost. I run Ghave and my biggest issue is only having 100 slots to build the deck with... won't someone make 200 card commander decks? 150 and I'd be happy as a saproling entering the battlefield with Trostani, Archangel of Thune, Cathars' Crusade and a buff Booodspore Thrinax next to it.

I think Inspiring Call would be an auto-include in this thing. It’s card draw in Green that synergizes with your counter strategy and protects your creatures.

Wayyyy ahead of you on this one, i spent a bit more, but I also really missed a couple things, looks like I'm going to make some swaps, I forgot about Vastwood Hydra, and didn't even think about adding in reveilark. A neat trick for you kiddies: Mindless Automaton, it will generate immense card draw for you in these types of decks.

Building the up graded version TODAY! The folks I play are so wary of my Atraxa deck that it's not playable at my LGS. This will be the new counter nightmare i unleash on them

Looks really fun! Evolutionary Leap wouldn't be a bad budget sacrifice effect either.

That was awesome! I'd personally go Sultai with Reyhan + Silas for lots of Glissa's synergies and Blue card advantage, but Abzan is also solid.

For upgrades Mikaeus the Unhallowed is an obvious include since you run triskelion, and ofc tutors are always good.

I run this partner pairing and its a persist combo deck.Threatening to win turn 4. No a bad budget either.

no mention of cathar's crusade?

I already run a Ghave, so this is kind of a strategy I've been close to. I've been more wondering about using Reyhan with that Bird Monk...because...BGUW feels like a fever dream come to life.

This is basically my Daghatar deck, especially the Reyhan side. Also Reyhan makes Daghatar awesome.

Just saying, if you could add ways of giving creatures trample, you could run Single Combat. It’s kind of boardwipe, except each player gets one creature. Isn’t it convenient that all of our +1/+1 counters could get piled up into one creature? Use that for the finishing blow if the situation calls for it.

That's pretty much the Atraxa deck but lightly upgraded :) Seems good.

You could exchange Doubling Season for Primal Vigor for a card that has the same effect for Ravos/Rehyan and a lot less expensive ;)

I love this video. I love this deck. I built it near the beginning of the year and have been upgrading it ever since, it’s beaten Moldrotha decks worth more than $1000, it’s beaten vampires, Maelstrom, and I never know how I’m going to win. Will I swing in with a 20/20 trample haste infect with putrefax by putting a bunch of 1/1 counters on him? Am I gonna mill all of my opponents out with an Altar of Dementia? Am I gonna Praetors Council and Duneblast them into oblivion with commander damage, or triskelion someone in an OTK and watch their jaw drop because they targeted something I didn’t want them to? Am I gonna swing in with 20/20 hydras that have flying, or sac a 40/40 to Jarad to deal 40 damage to all my opponents at once? The reason I love this deck so much is because it’s so different. You always see prossh or Edgar markov or derevi decks. We’ve seen them all before. No one has ever seen this deck before and it is fantastic.

i can think of a few additional inclusions. were in abzan, so seige rhino because seige rhino. as well as ashnods crypt, might as well have a nice sac engine, as well as karmic guide to go with revilark....im seeing a few infinite combos that are broken. i am going to have so much fun.

I might build this after scrapping my saskia deck because, I don't have enough for a great saskia deck but enough to make this work.

Dude. What about a graveyard/self-mill subtheme to synergize with Ravos? He's basically Karador. Fill the raveyard to make his upkeep trigger a toolbox with many choices. grisly salvage, satyr wayfinder, vessel of nascency, grapple with the past, jarad's orders. Redundant raveyard recursion through meren etc. Scavenge creatures to add +1/+1 counters to creatures from the raveyard?

What? No Skullbriar, the Walking Grave? Seems like he fits perfectly in this sort of thing.

this is really good. i have a deck that is very similar to this. i may modify it now. the only cards i dont have are those exclusive to the commander 2016 sets.

I love this deck idea, i will definitely use this one as the basis for a new deck :) But i noticed that you almost included no card draw, i think that should be fixed.

I know I'm a year late to this video...but I built this deck and it's awesome. I would highly recommend Sheoldred, whispering one and Asceticism...that's another $20 or so but what's $70-100 on a commander deck? Nothing that's what.

I really like it except for one part: Bounce lands are terrible. I'd spend the same amount by putting in the old budget filterlands instead, and those come in untapped and everything. Much better imo

Hey wedge sorry for the comment being unrelated to the video but I was toying with the idea of having a deck that was built around a combo of library of leng, solitary confinement, goat mom, kher keep, and niv-mizzet the firemind. the idea is you give kobolds to your opponent with goat mom, draw a lot of cards, Niv-mizzet will deal damage, and solitary confinement will keep you invulnerable while leng library keeps you from milling yourself. what do you think wedge? I feel it's a bit too complicated but it sounds like it would be fun to play with. Any suggestions?

$2.16 gives you Mazirek, Kraul Death Priest. Insane with Reyhan

What about including dictate of Erebos in this deck? That will wipe all your opponent's creatures.

Are you going to do other partner decks? Could I recommend Vial Smasher/Ludevic? It works on the principle of "as long as you cast a spell at some point during your turn, Ludevic triggers."

i would love to put meren, karador and teneb in this deck. that would turn your graveyard into your hand.

does Reyhan dying trigger his own ability? I thought his trigger wouldn't work on him since dying or being put into the command zone would remove him from the battlefield before the trigger is put on the stack? dying is a state based action, correct? I need help wedge

Hey Wedge, no Skullbriar? You can stack a butt ton of counters on him, sac him for more counters, then recur him and he's still got his butt ton of counters. Worth noting that he's only like $5 on TCGPLAYER *wink wink nudge nudge*

Wedge I love this strat but have you forgotten Mazirek, Kraul Death Priest!!! I was looking for good sac outlets for Atraxa and I think blue could take this over the top. I am a sucker for the Simic and I was just curious if you had any tips for building this kind of strategy into Atraxa or Redless or whatever. Love the strat lots of good things I hadn't even thought so thank you.

Brago is a very cheap and effective deck. You should do a brago deck

given your ramp why not ulvenwald hydra? Also Krosan's grip seems better than return to dust.
