Interesting fact for people who don't know about the hammer and inkmoth in modern but when you first equip the hammer to inkmoth it loses flying however if you pay the 1 mana on inkmoth again it regains the flying even with hammer attached. So boom now you got a 11 infect flyer lol

Pro: Infect mechanic is faithful to its flavor. Con: Infect mechanic is TOO faithful to it flavor.

They really just need to bring back wither, it was fair and fun without it being busted like infect.

Phyrexian Crusader is also a recent meta-specific choice for infect decks in legacy as white/boros initiative cannot beat that card.

I want to thank you for doing this one! It says nothing good about me, but I've always liked Infect ad am alternative win condition. Back when my preferred play group actually played more Modern-style decks, before every get together was solely Commander, I wanted to build a fun deck to win this way. When EDH became our typical, I felt that got harder, because singleton format, but oh well. For whatever reason, I don't typically like to play aggressively; I WANT to just sort of sit there, and build up, while my opponents beat on each other, but at least one of then always has a deck that does play "normal" Magic, and just build up, go wide, and keep doing that. I spend a fair amount of time looking for good alt wins, but since you aren't really supposed to win that way, all the time, they usually allow for a good window to prevent, and get stopped. When it became clear that a certain amount of aggro was probably necessary, and I was just feeling tired of losing, Infect was my chosen comeback; if I'm going to strike out, you are not going to survive. It was mixed, at best, of course; it's not meant to be the best win con, either, and in EDH, I struggled to find the pieces in a big deck of singleton cards, consistently, because not the best deck-builder, but I still loved it. Also, Mirrodin was my intro set, with other stuff I loved, so Scars revisiting, and bringing this, was great! I just wished there was more than one LC Infect source, to be Commander, because Skittles was expensive for a long time. I'm excited for Toxic, even if it is a weaker, more "fair" variant of Infect, which I agree I think we've seen the last of, and the new Karumonix LC Rat has me REALLY excited, but it will never replace true Infect in my heart, I guess. Seeing how it has actually been used by good players helps, even if I am not so thrilled how vital Green seems to be to it, as most of my EDH Infect ideas are either mono-Black, Damir colors, or Rakdos colors, but it was still cool to see, rather than just hunting down old decklists, in a vacuum. Infect is one of those mechanics I don't think *anyone* likes. It's kinda like the exact opposite of "Top 10 Vintage Cards (Minus Power 9)"!

Infect is the only ability that has had both parts appear as separate abilities with wither in Shadowmoor and toxic in Phyrexia: All Will be One (plus a few other poison counter cards like Fynn, the Fangbearer)

There are ways to get around Inkmoth Nexus losing its flying when attaching a Colossus Hammer. You can simply activate the Nexus again after the hammer is attached and it will regain flying.

Infect is actually what got me into MTG properly, got T2 infected in the first game of modern I tried and then immediately went "I want that!" And very slowly (cause I was 15 and had little money) built up modern U/G infect.

How about Wednesdays focus on updating older lists? Seeing how the meta has evolved over the years makes them some of my favorite videos.

10:30 Ah, but see that's the really devious thing about using hammer with inkmoth. Yes, it loses flying, but its flying was granted by the ability that made it a creature in the first place. Being a creature doesn't keep you from activating that ability >:). If you have a spare mana, you can activate again and fly over your opponent with the colossus hammer.

Considering the crusader's reputation, I'm really surprised it only has six top 8s in total.

I remember when we got only one Top 10 a week, way back in the day. Time for my semi-yearly re-watch of this series, bc I'm like that.

I had a really silly modern lite infect deck which was blue black and a kind of weird midrange thing which focused on removal and counters to let the infect creatures get through, and then gaining value from runechanter's pike.

Infect is a keyword ability I never got to play with... but its interesting as I have played with it's predecessor: Wither and Poison Counters I remember Wither being a headache to deal with: esp ones with 1st strike or double strike attached to them: they become virtual unkillable in combat :( And back then, there weren't really any Poison creatures worth running. Often, they're too over costed to be taken seriously: like The Dark's Marsh Viper (G3 for a 1/2??) Speaking of: is there any creature with infect that also has double strike?

I don't usually build super spicy commander decks, but I like to put a infect card in the middle. A common cheap. Also, about posting more videos. Its cool, do what you feel is better (hence, the experiment), but you could end up with a burn out. Not just the viewer, but yourself could end up tired.

I love lists, maybe more with commander stats focus

3 top 10s a week could end up being quite an exhausting and stressful expectation.. Did you possibly consider 2 top 5s and 1 top 10? Like Mon and Wed could be Top 5s then have Fri be top 10? Just curious is all.

The only way they can bring infect back is as Infect X, with the X determining the number of poison and -1/-1 counters it applies. That prevents combat trick shenaningans

Does anyone else who played during Zendikar/Scars block ever find it weird when they hear some people overhype the power of Infect today (not Nizzahon)? 😅 It seems like people think of what Infect can do in Modern, then think it was just instantly a busted mechanic comparable to Phyrexian Mana, Dredge or Storm. In reality, it was pretty balanced while in rotation, especially in Standard. During that time, the biggest decks were Valakut Ramp, Boros Landfall, Tempered Steel, UB Control & most importantly - CawBlade (and the countless variations of the JTMS/Stoneforge package). Even decks like Elves/Vampires/Vengevine etc. were more competitive, and Infect was rarely seen. Then Modern came around (with those Blazing Shoal turn 2 kills) & Commander rose to prominence, & now Infect is talked about as if it was always an insane powerhouse. It definitely has earned its respect, but I think it gets TOO much respect now. /Sorry for the rant! None of this was about your takes Nizzahon! 😉😘
