I'm not a big fan of first strike. I prefer getting +4/+4 when my opponents block with more than one creature. Preferably on a 5/5 Artifact Dragon with flying and trample.
What I find interesting about first strike is that it’s one of those abilities that matters a lot some of the time and not at all the rest of the time. You have to be very careful to ensure that you’re creating scenarios where it pays off.
100% correct. First Strike is like death touch in that sense (gross together as well) they are strong keywords with glaring weaknesses to certain deck types but if you let them get rolling they control the board state
First strike is truly one of those abilities that just makes sense. There is nothing wrong with it, and I definitely think it is great. Almost as great, even, as "Top 10 Vintage Cards (Minus Power 9)"!
(12:49) Yeah, I remember the "Walletslayer" nickname, but after I noticed recently that her price was quite low again, I picked up a Baneslayer for myself a local shop for $2. (13:32) Interesting how the #1 entry is so inexpensive. Looks like I can get a copy of that Thalia at that same local shop for just 90 cents right now. Good bargain rares FTW.
are you sure Thalia has no points in pioneer? it seems weird to me to see her with no points since she's been a big player in pioneer mono white humans, top tier deck, for several months
Surprised the reprint of Baneslayer got it more points, considering how far creatures have been pushed since her Walletslayer days. After all, she still dies to removal without impacting the board in a way most good 4-mana+ creatures don't anymore.
Do you think you'll do a Top 10 Protection effects? Could be from specific colors or just every Protection effect (From everything, from Vampires, etc)
Surprising to see all the creatures that fell off the list were the bottom chunk of the list. Most of the time when you revisit, there's something that was in a position like Lyra that was near the bottom before and moved up.
You should include the number of commander decks a ranked card is in. Just so me and the rest of us can see what we may have been missing out on. For any format, the amount of possible card choices is impossible to keep track of and we often don't know what we want until we see it.
