Wow! Just wow. I seen the video where u we’re doing along the telegraph lines in the pine plantation for the logging trucks and I got to c the blades then but it was good to hear about the whole machine and what a beast. Ty for the reply to my comments and likes and I look forward to watching more videos from u guys as well. We don’t have tools like this here in Australia that I’ve seen. 🤙😎🇦🇺
Wanted to try the MTL brush cutter myself. Paid for one and bought a brush rake from them as well. 6 weeks later the owner canceled my order. Apparently he doesn’t want his customers to ask about shipping dates... probably did me a favor. They don’t answer the phone, seldom answer texts and so far have not answered one email. Not sure what a customer who needed parts or service would do.
I have a 72" MTL XC7 cutter. It has been a great performer. Two of my farms have some potential pasture that has been allowed to grow up by their previous owners. In my opinion the cutter is the best method to clear overgrown land. MTL prices are WAY lower than their competition, as you said.
Agreed, the price point was the major seller for me, especially when there doesn't appear to be any tradeoff in quality of construction or performance.
Thank you for the support! Fort Drum was fun... in the summer and early fall. Winter...not so much LOL. But I do miss it there in the summer. I used to mountain bike a ton in the summer and early fall all over the area. I'm from the south, born and raised but I don't know if there is a better place to be in the summer and early fall than upstate NY. Especially if your an outdoors person.
I'm very happy them bolts are welded 😂 so this is a good review well done, this is something I'll be looking out for and as a plant mechanic and fabricator I can say it's well built👌 I'm just concerned is it too heavy for my 843 on rough ground 🤔
Just add a little more to the ring around the bolts so they or counter sunk on the bolts that hold the double plate that hold the blades that would save the bolt heads
I went through the same process a year ago and purchased the MTL. I chose the piston motor upgrade and everything was great until last month when oil started shooting out of the bearing housing. I've been calling Cliff at MTL but have yet to speak with anyone there. Anyone know where they source their motors? Also need a new bellow. The lack of support is becoming quite frustrating!
Just wait until your spindle nut backs off and the entire blade carrier comes loose and flops up and down hitting the bottom of the deck. When you contact customer service and after three days of calling you finally get someone to answer the phone. You can try the msg or email route but that results in nothing. when you finally get someone, they will tell you to get a 2 3/4-inch spindle socket to tighten the nut. They don't have the socket but do have a new nut. You order the nut and go to amazon for the socket. When it arrives, it doesn't fit the nut. Back to calling and calling and calling customer service. It takes another four days to get someone to pick up. You explain the socket doesn't fit the nut. They say you must have the wrong socket; they give you a part number for the right socket. You order this one and when it comes it is marked with the right number, but it still doesn't fit the nut. Back to calling and calling and calling and after just three more days you get someone to answer. You explain everything to him, and he says he will go out to the shop and talk to the guys, call you back probably in an hour or two. Of course, he never calls, and you are back to calling and calling and calling. This is the stage I'm at now. My scrub is still growing but I'm not mowing. Probably not wise to post this but damn how hard can it be to identify the right socket to fit the spindle nuts you are using on your implements. I've tried taking the new nut to the parts houses around here and they say they have no idea where to get a socket to fit it. I guess I'm just stuck until MTL has pity on me and spends two minutes of their time identifying the right socket. Whatever it is it is not 2 3/4 inch. Not the one on my cutter or the new one they sent me. Oh yea, I may as well tell you I used a punch to beat the nut tighter. That is how I destroyed the old nut. If you don't have the proper socket and try to use a punch, be prepared to cut the nut out with a torch. God knows what that will do to the rest of the spindle. If anyone has idea's I'm all ears.
Hey Tony! I'm super sorry you've had a hard time with MTL. I myself have a hard time getting ahold of them or getting them to call me back. I will say, out of all the complaints I get about MTL (which aren't many) it's the customer service that most people complain about. I would suggest taking the cutter/mower to a local heavy equipment repair shop, like Caterpillar or John Deere. Those shops have all types of equipment/tools to work on stuff like that or they can get it. The SnapOn truck goes to my local John Deere dealer almost weekly dropping off tools and whatnot. I take all my stuff to the local JD dealer and those guys can fix anything. If I can help with anything please let me know!
@@idigit4967 Thanks for the support. I have taken the nut to NAPA and Kubota. They looked at me like I'm nuts. Where I live I don't have many big places to take it. I'm trying CAT next. If you can find out what is the proper tool to use on that nut it would really help. The nut is shown on the parts break down on MTL's website. It is at the end of the brush cutter section. The nut is part MS 7 and that is the only way it is identified. There are no numbers or letters on the actual nut. The outside diameter is just over 3.1 inches and the 4 slots measure about 2/7/8 inches across. When you show it to an auto parts shop, they say it is bigger than anything they have or have seen. MTL says it is the same as a DANA/Spicer axle nut which is 2 3/4 inches but it is not, it is larger.
MTL does not manufacture that grapple, nor the brush cutter in your review. (Sorry to break that news) In fact, they do not manufacture ANYTHING. This is the case for 98% of the skid steer attachment companies on the market today. There are a small handful of N. Carolina manufacturing facilities that make all these products for the industry and make subtle changes to the motor cover, push bar, etc. The unfortunate part is there is so much convolution, it is almost impossible to figure out the quality of the components under the motor cover (the important part), as there are MANY ways (options) to order this cutter, its kind of like "Build A Bear". As an industry insider, it took me over a year to uncover the many mis-truths of "manufacturer direct".
Thanks for the comment and good to know, I will have to look into this. Regardless, my review of the MTL cutter and grapple still stand, both have served me well and the construction seems to be of good quality. Assuming what you are saying is true, someone may considering buying an MTL like I did and I wanted them to know the pros & cons of that attachment.
@@idigit4967 FYI: It says right on the MTL website under About Us: "We contract with one of the largest production plants in the US to manufacture the best attachments for the price, we then cut overhead prices, sales forces & advertising costs to a minimum to bring the ABSOLUTE best pricing possible." Thanks for the video.
This guy sells all kinds of stuff and criticizes his competition . Look at his videos ( BTW, he has turned off all comments !! ) and make up your own mind. He claims to know the truth - how convenient . Like most folks reading this stuff I need help determining what to get but it will not come from I dig Texas. Again look at his videos.
