If you live in a hot climate, are in auto repair school, and aren't sure if you should take A/C class, DO IT. If you have basic automotive skills, you only need a little bit of time to learn how to do A/C repair. I have never seen the "Adjustable thermal switch" When you don't need maximum cooling on other cars, the A/C chills the air, then the heater core heats it back up. That seems incredibly wasteful. That delay relay is something I'm not used to seeing. Also, I didn't know that there was a continuously operating compressor. That ETR regulation methods seems interesting too. I had a major influence that got me interested in A/C repair. Mom's 1985 Nissan Maxima had such a badly designed A/C system, that compressors would never last more than 3 years. We had some friends and neighbors with 86 and 87 models, and they had the same problem. Repairs cost a fortune on those cars. I then knew I could save myself and my family a fortune if I learned how to do A/C work well. Many modern cars still have a very simple system for regulating the A/C. However, many are electronic, and you need to know how to pull diagnostic codes.
The Chrysler RV2 compressor and A/C system is up there to me in one of the best designed systems. So easy to just outright replace all the A/C lines from the compressor to the evaporator/heater core, and back to the hot side. The metal lines are usually perfectly fine. I plan on going through the whole system next summer, once I rebuild the 383 and put disc brakes on the car. I took an HVAC course in college, didn't actually like the residential job part of it very much, but I'm thankful for the experience.
