this is very rare.when purple rain came out i was only nine in 1984. loved the movie and i remember i bought the single from the soundtrack album when doves cry on the flip side of the record 17 days. love prince and may he rest in peace.
I was 8 and I hardly knew anything about Prince or half these people until I was 12. Been a fan ever since! Not one album he ever made did I not get!! I hate he is gone! We need him back God plz!!
You know im watching this star-studded event this tribute to Prince because they knew this man was going to be the one! I feel sorry for whoever was born after 1990 because you guys really missed out on great music! Michael,Prince ans Madonna 🖤👍🏿🔥all of them were fire at this time. Including Eddie
I feel so fortunate growing up in the 80's this moment was larger than life! We didnt have computers or technology so me and my friends would all play outside and if one of us went inside for a drink and caught Prince or Michael Jackson they would always scream out "Prince is on mtv" or "Michael Jackson is on mtv" in which we would all run to our homes and Watch the video those were the days and I'm so happy I grew up back then to experience it!
I need more of this! I miss these days, I really do! Everything was poppin at the time. Music, movies, tv shows, wrestling, nba, nfl, nhl, toys etc. You had to be there!!!!!
That interview with Eddie Murphy after he and others had left the Purple Rain movie was a trip. Man, Eddie in late 1984 in his prime and that famous laugh of his during that interview is just priceless to me.
Wasn't Michael getting ready for his final tour with his brothers? I crack up when I see Mike saying that it's the last show (when it originally wasn't) and his brothers being triggered in the background. Little Richard was hilarious. "I made a Bible just for Prince."
I wish we could make a big ole time machine and leave it in the 80's and 90's forever. After the year 1999 we could just turn it back to 1980 and repeat over and over again lol.
Seeing as how the 1980s is my favorite decade for music, it's a trip seeing this video and seeing all those 1980s stars ⭐ getting out of limos or getting interviewed.
Thank you for saying that at the end Lionel Richie, about what Prince did. He got it right off. He is one of the first and few artist to have a successful visual album. (Purple Rain) That's right people, before Beyonce's Lemonade. Even though I love Beyonce :)
scritti politti as the background music ...wow was this 80s personified. .this was when the music world finally began moving away from thriller to purple rain....Michael Jackson cleaned up at all the music awards one year, and then at all the awards shows the next year prince followed suit...84 was an amazing year in music. .in my opinion the best year for music in the 80s followed by 87.
'84 was the best no daubt, Michael Jackson's Thriller was still hot, Prince released Purple Rain, Bruce Springsteen released Born in the USA, Van Halen released 1984, Madonna released Like a Virgin, MTV peaked that year, the 80s were in full swing in '84.
@@johnsonmark65 agree...I always felt 84 was the most "80ish" year of the 1980s...the music , movies , and TV shows that year were amazing..you nailed it...I remember thinking even in elementary school...wow 84 is cool...only year I ever actually realized was classic in real time
Oh man I remember that summer so well, i sent all my bologna to Weird Als’ house for the holidays, and all my watermelons went to John Cougers Mellencamp
What are the names of those New Wave joints playing in the background during the interviews of Little Richanrd 1932-2020 and John Cougar Mellencamp, and Lionel Richie? I haven't heard them since I was 14.
Eddie is soooo handsome and Charlie wow.My sweet Little Richard😔 and Shelia is always saying few word just like the appearance on Arsenio Hall Patti Labelle tried to get her to respond to certain things she wanted answered and Shelia wouldn't respond just smile.
@2:50 The younger white bodyguard wearing the black shirt and white suspenders is none other than former WCW pro-wrestler, NFL football player and Minnesota native...Scott Norton!
Sheila E looked good. She should've been in "PURPLE RAIN" since she's like a sister to Prince. Eddie Murphy looked surprised that his movie "BEST DEFENSE" was playing right down the street.
That's why I was crying with laughter when they interviewed Eddie!!! "Eddie what did you think of the movie?" --- "well I think Prince is me of this generation " ...lmmfao
Prince's hair style, general flamboyance and the thing he did with "girly" screams (i.e. how he looked and behaved during 81-85, or the "1999 and Purple Rain-era") is reminiscent of Little Richard in his prime though.
