This really is excellent for beginners because it even incorporates some basic footwork like angling with a hook and switch footwork. Guarantee you a lot of these will actually be used in sparring or fighting.
Im new to Muay Thai been goin for a few months but I've picked it up really quick(former soccer player) and I'm gonna try and use some of these in my sparring next week! Thanks guys.
Love the last one, haven't really come across it before. I also think starting combos with the right straight can be great. Straight right into left hook to the body into right head kick, try it peeps :)
+Chase “KidSynth” McWilliams i guess so. since your hands are already above head level you just go straight down. other stances keep your hands below head level so when elbowing you gotta bring it up first then down. yea so its faster in a way
I think that given that the world is a fairly open place nowadays you could hold a separate argument as to what is and what is not Muay Thai. The East influences the West and vice versa. The spectrum on which Kickboxing and Muay Thai lies can often crossover to the point where it looks the same at times, even though in practise they can also often be seen as a million miles apart. You say tomato, I say tomato. I hope you enjoyed the video regardless, I think Robin is a great coach!
Do people do weight transfers between feet or stay pretty evenly weighted? Had a personal trainer drill me on jab from rear foot, cross transfer weight to lead leg, then swing kick with rear with no weight on it, don't see a lot of people doing that weight shifting though. I know traditional muay thai used to be pretty heavy on rear leg but now it seems like it's pretty even weight distribution
