Today’s video we treat a cow with a defect in the white line of her hoof. After treatment she’s able to walk pain free. CONTACT NATE THE HOOF GUY hooftrimmerguy@gmail.com
Some one else said thanks for being the best hoof trimmer on RU-vid but for the cows sake I wish he wasn't the only hoof trimmer that obviously cared about how the cows feel and react to what he's doing. He's the only one that goes out of his way to not hurt them....sure the others do similar things just not as thoughtfully and carefully as Nate does
Nate, I've been watching you for some time now. I have to say that a lot of the other trimmers have started throwing in catchy music, ubiquitous drone shots, etc etc. I've dropped them one by one as most of their videos have begun to show very little actual good trimming. Thank you for your style and dedication to being informative. 👍 Edit: Had no idea this would rack up this many likes. Just goes to show Nate's the best. 😂
I like how he actually informs you on what happened as how it happened and how to fix it. He’s one of the few guys on YT that you can learn from and learn what to look for with your own cattle.
My favorite is when they take wild swipes at loose horn, cut the corium, and then talk about how they didn't cut the cow, she's bleeding because it's infected. I'm like 🙄 I literally watched the knife cut the corium! Nate rarely draws blood. He's the best!
💯 concur with you Mack. I do enjoy watching and listening to Nate. Very informative. Even if it’s redundant, every video is still educational and captures the audience. Thank you Nate!
@@elijahjakobsen7898 How would I know Elijah, had only watched a couple videos, and I rarely write comments. Besides, whats wrong with complimenting someone? Or are you just bitter?
Never in a million years did I expect to enjoy videos of a guy with a calming voice treating cow hoofs as much as I do. TV-shows like ‘Dr. Pimple Popper’ are really nauseating to me, but your craftsmanship is fascinating and strangely satisfying to watch. Big fan from the Netherlands here 👌🏻
Nate I'm 33 and bedridden with chickenpox. You're upload made my day better. Not less itchy, but better. Thanks for be the only good trimmer on RU-vid.
Your precision with that knife such a beauty to behold. Thank you so much for sharing your art form with us and never losing sight of what’s important. The hoof trimming. I never have to click off your videos due to hearing annoying music, sneaky advertising, etc.
Ever since I saw your knife sharpening video I find myself paying much closer attention to your knife blade and how you use it. I never dreamed that I would be getting this much value from a hoof trimming channel. Thanks! 😎
Thanks to you Nate, I’ve leaned a whole new set of vocabulary, cow hoof anatomy, and the basics of trimming cow hooves! Things is never thought I’d enjoy learning so much! Trimming the hooves of a cow that’s lame is much like uncovering and solving a mystery with each swipe of your knife! The best part is that you get to improve the cow’s quality of life by removing the pain in their feet!
I am always very impressed and mesmerized by your knife work and the precision that you have. Really it is awesome to behold! I very much enjoy your channel as well as another trimmer overseas. I'm a city boy now but used to be a country boy on fruit farms never around cattle. So this is quite the thing to watch. Thank you so very much for letting us have a peek.
If I had been you, Nate, I might have taken that long look she gave you just before you let her out of the pen as *gratitude.* Thanks for another competent and compassionate case. 🙌🐮
I've always loved how gentle you are. I've seen other people who are way too harsh. You show you see them as more than just an animal, and you put full care into each cow you see! Thank you ❤️
Oh my goodness, I've never been so early!! I love relaxing watching these videos. The combination of Nate's voice and the hoof work is so soothing for some reason!
My oh My, that looked painful :( I swear I was flinching with her! Her other leg was shaking too, as she was trying to wiggle the digit u were working on :( But... Super Nate to the rescue!! Another great one!! Thanks buddy!
Stumbled upon this page by accident but instantly became addicted . As a inner city kid from Philadelphia who’s probably only seen a handful of cows in my life lol Love the channel, it’s relaxing keep the videos coming and keep up the great work 👍🏾
I admire the care and love you put into taking care of the hooves of the cows. Your technique is wonderful. You do close ups; you explain what is happening and what you do and are doing along the way. Thank you .
Thanks again for the informative video! Very appreciative that you don't put unnecessary music etc. Always nice to watch them walk after being treated. So happy for them and thank you for your work taking care of the cows.
I've only started watching in the last few weeks and Nate you have some of the most talents hands with that knife I've seen on RU-vid. You have a way with these animals that is so gentle. I love watching this channel. Hello from Australia!
No. It’s a problem that’s becoming common on farms all over the country. Researchers are studying the problem but I believe it’s a design flaw in the construction of the new barns that’s causing it.
Could it be due to the type of feed calves are given? Too rich or maybe too much of one or more nutrients? We have a bull with corkscrew feet and one relative felt it was from the feed given to him as a calf. Pushes them to gain faster.
I don’t know why but these videos are extremely satisfying to watch even though I don’t have any experience with cows and probably will never own cows.
I love watching them walk out of the chute. It’s cool watching them realize “oh wait a minute, this doesn’t hurt nearly as bad as before…. Oh wow I can walk now!”
That was a great video as always. You re always so gentle with the cows and it is nice to see. It must have been cold when you were trimming because I kept seeing little puffs of steam coming off the injured claw after you removed the false sole.
I feel like every cow goes ‘oh thank god/Nate, what a relief’ each time the sole gets cut back and opened up. It’s a happy weekend when there is a new video.
You are the only hoof trimmer I sub to for the cattle? cows? Bovine like creatures. The reason I sub to you is the care that you show for these animals. Rarely any bleeding (caused by your trim) and when I have seen that happen it is obvious that it was not due to any neglect or lack of care on your part. Others I have seen (and no longer watch) just plow in to get that "stuff" out of the way causing new injury and I have to imagine considerable discomfort and pain to the animal. Thank you Mr. Hoof guy!!
I do woodcarving and gods do I ever get knife envy when watching these videos. I know hoof horn behaves differently than wood but at the same time those smooth cuts seem like they'd feel like a dream, as does the way that hook works to do those circular cuts. Absolutely magnificent.
The Hoof GP is ass. Long live Nate. The one true king. Thank you for not playing horrible music at awful volume. No awful drone shots, no bleeding corium.
Imo your the best hoof trimmer on Utube Nate. Your an expert who knows what you're taking about. Your knife skills are so precise and rarely do you see blood. I'm always hanging out for the next one!!!! If only you could post every day, however I know that's not possible and be content.
I've discovered hoof trimming through horseshoe videos, The hoof gp came to my related videos and I started watcihng a lot of that channels videos. then I discovered nate the hoof guy. Even though I am not a expert I can definitely see the difference Nate's cutting is so precise that we can clearly see the lesions when he unveils them. Not to upset the hoof gp guy, he always messes up and bleeds the lesions. He makes really imprecise cuts when he is close to the corium (i hope its spelled like this) and I can feel the cows pain. But Nate is like a surgeon.
Everytime I watch one of your videos my internal monologue is just a constant stream of 'poor baby's and adjacent phrases. This is a job I'd never thought of before, but it's so important. Thank you for taking care of these sweet animals 🤍🖤
Nate, I stumbled upon you around half a year ago. Never thought I'd be so intrigued. I just want to say that out of all the hoof trimmers I follow (for cows) you are the most delicate and precise one. Also your voice is so soothing. Thanks for what you do and keep at 'er Much love from 🇨🇦
Somehow this channel popped up in my recommendations and I've been hooked for about a month now. I couldn't even tell you why, but I'm fascinated by the entire process. It's like watching Bob Ross, but entirely different at the same time. Just subscribed. 👍🏼
Dear Nate - Love watching all your excellent videos here from Copenhagen, Denmark. You are simply the best. Your language is so nice and clear (your voice too), and your explanations are so good. Like another viewer I also prefer just your speaking alongside with your work which is so interesting. A year ago I never dreamt of watching this kind of work, but watching you working and explaining is simply such a pleasure and very interesting. Sometimes I also watch hoof trimming on horses which is also excellent from another American guy who is also like you doing his very best for each individual animal. Thank you so much for all your excellent videos. 🇺🇲 🐄 ♥️
I have watched a few of your videos but have never commented. I wanted to reach in and give this poor gal to have a shot of anaesthetic! I know farm animals are tough, but she has a spelunking tunnel in her foot, poor thing! I'm glad you're out there doing your good work. 👍🥇 Animals under our care deserve _real_ care. (i.e., people like you)
First time being early and your channel appeared on my feed and I binge watched all the videos it is very interesting, and Learned a lot. thank you for making these videos
Nate you are truly a master of your craft. I especially enjoy your paring skills with the hoof knives and your skill in that area is unmatched. I've been a subscriber for quite a while and to see your subscriber count grow so much brings me great satisfaction. I never miss an upload and am always eager for the next. The pride you take in your profession is truly inspiring.
@NatetheHoofGuy - You made a video that showed a cow who had been trimmed by someone who took off too much of the hoof bulb, and you said it would never grow back. In this video, you cut into the bulb. How do you know how much is too much trimming on the bulb area of a hoof? How do you know what you cut from the bulb will grow back? Thank you for making these videos. I don't work with cows, but your videos fascinating to watch, well-described, and I've learned a lot!
Compression of the heel bulb doesn’t recover. The inner tissues get compressed and don’t recover. The outer horn grows back. In this case just the loose horn was removed and a block was applied to the other claw so there’s no pressure on the injured bulb.
