Today’s video we treat a cow with a sore left rear foot that has a white line defect and is infected with digital dermatitis. CONTACT NATE THE HOOF GUY hooftrimmerguy@gmail.com
and unlike "the other guy" on youtube, he makes wholesome educational content . the competition is trying hard for algorithm bait and possibly get a discovery show like pimple popper did AND spends his time trying to hawk that spray he uses instead of the salicylic acid powder, trying to get an endorsement deal.
@@ColtGColtG seriously! good for him but i, personally, cant stand it. Whenever someone mentions it I always have to make sure Nate's name is in that mix cus you can tell he actually cares about what he does & really knows his stuff AS WELL AS take care of these girls. This is the only channel i have alerts on for :) (and im on here a lot lol)
Nate, I’ve watched a TON of your videos and this is probably the most horn I’ve ever seen you remove from one claw. Shows how bad off this hoof was before you got to work. I know you typically would rather remove less than more, so this shows a lot.
It blows my mind to see the strength these animals have, yet they're still so gentle with us. Imagine carrying that weight on those sore feet... you are a blessing to these girls. ❤
Oh wow, that was intense. Do you think you would be able to turn this into one of your 'updates' series? I'd love to see her road to recovery and the progress as she heals. Wonderful work, as always, Nate! Take care, and I hope you're happy and healthy
Nate I like your videos very much and it is always nice to see you interacting with the cows, but as a person who grew up on a dairy farm I would caution anyone who does not have Nate's level of experience and knowledge to not get the false idea that these cows are all like big friendly dogs. These animals are very large and powerful, and can do a lot of damage!
Wow, poor girl has a bunch of hoof issues. She will be better in no time thanks to you though! Also - I have to say I’m surprised at how many times cows have rocks in their feet. I did not know that could happen as much as I’ve seen since I started watching hoof trimming videos. Hope you’re having a great weekend Nate, great video as always, take care!
Hi Nate! I love jerseys and brown swiss, they have just the most precious faces! Have you ever had cows who just won't fully heal? And I want to thank you for the care you take with these lovely gals! My uncle has a very small herd of beef cattle, and his ladies aren't super friendly, but very protective of their babies! :)
That beautiful Jersey! Loved that footage! I used to live near a Jersey dairy farm and their cows were always up for some head scritches, lol. The cow you were treating had a whole lot going on there - thank goodness you are there to set her on the road to recovery. Thanks so much for sharing your videos with us. I find your channel so uplifting.
Nate what a perfect precision treatment of that poor sore claw/hoof/toe.....superb job. Jersey Girl 5J.......well to me that was not cow head butts but cow hugs, and just a joy to behold.🐄🐄🐄🐄🐄🐄🐄🐄
I happened to see there was a new video and I gasped and slammed the play button. 😂 I hope you know your knife work is superior to everyone out there. I love how gentle you are and how the hoof barely moves. Others hack away and it bounces a lot. You and the cow were so cute.
Mr. Nate, you’re the epitome a steward in animal husbandry. Thank you for all the information you provide each week. But mostly, thanks for your passion with cows and for being a champion in the Dairy Industry. Mostly, thanks for being such a good man!
I bet that poor girl was so happy to have that claw treated. It had to have been painful. Oh and 5J is adorable. Jerseys just have the sweetest faces and she is so good natured too.
*"the stone is taking advantage of that white line defect to get lodged in there"* So you are saying stones are master tacticians? This explains alot actually.
I just love how gentle you are with all of them! I love watching your videos, very soothing, interesting and it makes me want to do it... but that'll never happen. So i have to live vicariously through your videos!! Thank you!!
That was a BEAUTIFUL GIRL!!! They may have digitates on that farm, but there's no doubt their animals are super well cared for! What beautiful, healthy looking girls they were all! Especially that Jersey at the start and end? Stunning!
so many hoof trimmers just trudge along and brute-force their way through a herd, but Nate cares about every single cow he sees, and gives them all specialized care, plus some scritches and love. he really goes above and beyond for these cows, his attention to detail, patience, and genuine desire to help these cows, is heart warming :) so many hoof trimmers make their cows bleed from sloppy trims, it's so bad sometimes that I can't even watch that person's trims. those people could really learn from nate
I have to say I found your channel through the hoof gp. But you are the absolute most gentle and thorough when it comes to these beautiful babies. Love your channel. And your explanations are easy to understand. Thank you Stephanie 🐄❤
Thanks for explanation on formation of lesions. That and the pic’s you’ve shared have really helped me understand what’s going on. Like others I find these videos oddly soothing and I purposely binged watch last night. That helped and with this now I don’t think I will forget.
Awww 5J is such a friendly girl! It reminds me of my days visiting my grandpa's dairy farm as a kid. Although the affectionate cows are a little scary when you're not even 4 feet tall yet and they're great big adult Holsteins who think you might have treats for them.
My goodness, I wondered if there'd be any horn left on the hoof by the end - she really was in a bad way - but now on the road to recovery and much more comfortable. The little tan cow is so sweet and came right up and booped you on the nose - n'awwww 😊
Your love of the cows really shines through with the way you gently treat them. Seems more like grooming whereas other guys just hack away as fast as possible
NATE.... So glad you show yourself sometimes, face with the voice ❤ We went from, Omg you poor thing TOO Omg, she was kissing the camera, and head butting was sooo Cuteee ❤ Good Ending!!!
I’ve seen enough of your videos to the point to when I saw the hoof of this poor cow I said “Yikes”. Helps that I used to live nearby a dairy most of my life.
That poor babe! It just looks soo painful! I noticed, while u were cleaning the wound, she jerked her front leg. Ughhh, my heart goes out to them. You, Nate, do a fine job, getting them well! Thk u for your concern and wisdom for these babes! ❤🙏🙏😇🐄❤
I'm a city girl born and raised but my grandparents were farmers and so I've always appreciated farming etc.. What I really love about your work Nate is that you're truly skilled & knowledge plus you have the best knife work in the business 👏 I love how you use both hands while trimming (giving better control) when possible so the hoof isn't jerking about like I see so often with other trimmers only using one hand. I think it's why you rarely ever nick the cow. Happy holidays to you and your family!
Hi Nate! Love your channel. I watch some others but your is the best by far. It's nice to see you interact with the animals. You are good at what you do and I love the compassion that you have for the cows. Great Job!
Im hooked with your channel it just randomly popped up on my account and now Im addicted. I love how gentle you are with these beautiful cows. Greetings from Australia 🇦🇺
That poor girl had so much hoof to get rid of! It looked like she was walking fine after though so I'm sure she was thankful for your help. And 5J is so cute!!
I've loved your videos so much since I stumbled across your channel. So much so that my friend bought me a plush cow when I was in the hospital for stomach surgery and signed the note from "Nate the Hoof Guy" :)
Thank you Nate for explaining why copper sulphate is too caustic to use. I was nodding furiously when you made that statement. Corium is so sensitive and delicate, products you use can actually prevent the capsule from healing. Not only that but the pain experienced from such strong applications would be excruciating. Imagine if you grazed your knee and you put copper sulphate on there....yikes!! As ever, a wonderful video Nate. Love the cow cuddles too 💞
Great video as always! At the end when your head was under that bar all I could think of was what if something spooked the cow and she pinned your neck up against that bar. I know it's not likely, but a broken neck could happen from that. Be careful putting yourself between the bars!!
Jerseys are my favourite cows. I grew up in a Dairy town (Tillamook Oregon) and we were surrounded by cows. Love what you do Nate. Keep up the good work!🥰❤️🐮
You are so patient in explaining what is going on to us viewers. And you carry that over into the hoof treatment. You work cautiously but efficiently and never aggressively cut. Your passion shows. Thank you.
I’m not much on commenting but I enjoy watching your videos and the information you share as you are working on their hooves, it makes it much more interesting. I have to say I don’t know how you can stand that cold, 🥶 but I’m always amazed at how gentle you are with the girls.
I have heard you refer to humans as stewards of these animals. I really appreciate that mindset. We use cows for food, we are responsible for their wellbeing while they are in our care. I appreciate your kindness.
