A surprise mud pool has appeared in a backyard in Rotorua. Property owner Susan Gedye says she woke to it yesterday morning thinking there was an earthquake. Her family evacuated last night, coming back to remove their possessions today. Thick clouds of steam and large clumps of mud can be seen coming from the hole and the council says it could remain like this for weeks.
