Getting one of these for the Admiralty ships would take practically *forever* to pay back that amount of Zen, especially on PC. The sale you'd want to get in on for Admiralty is the Dil ship sale going on, as getting the Tier 1 and 2 ships, and the Ignore X stat on event ships could pay you back quickly. Maybe a Tier 4 Sci ship as well if you're low on Sci ships.
Definitely never buy these just for Admiralty cards. Higher-level cards are great so you're not using lower-tiered ships as effective Pass Tokens, but as you said, those "+/- [category] Events" types, especially the lower Tier ones sold for Dilithium, are a lot better and recoup their cost much more quickly. If you're relatively new or don't have a lot of T6 ships, these 6- or 9-ship Choice Packs/MEGA Bundles represent a large increase in one's ability to do Admiralty missions effectively. While they never should be *the* consideration, it is *a* consideration.
The T6 Jem'Hadar Dread has one of the best pet traits out there, especially when used in conjunction with SAD. It's not one to pass on IMO. Great breakdown!
The S31 Intel sci destroyer is actually a very good ship. I think a lot of people don't see the potential cause they think of it as a Science ship. Think of it as a battle cloaking escort with a commander Intel that can be used for Surgical strike with enough intel to also run Sub system override 3. Leave it in Sci mode... and you trade experimental dmg for secondary deflector dmg. Slot skills like CPB, Tachyon beam and or subsystem ann. This gives you multiple deflector dot triggers. 4/3 is a great setup for surgical dmg. 4 beams up front anchored by the Disco and Terran beams (and if you feel like it the terran DHC)... 2 omnis in the back + a undine heavy turret + Hydro console for the 7.5% cat 2 set bonus. Surgical works just fine with the turret. One of the best escorts in the game imo. Not a great sci ship... just don't fly it that way. Battle cloaking Intel Escort with a secondary deflector. :)
The Mudd's Market bundles are only worth it when 3 things are happening 1: They're on sale. 2: When they're doing a bonus zen deal as well and 3: There's a ship you really want an account unlock for. At least generally when they first launch a new bundle they start at 50% off, which is something. That being said I won't lie there a few ships in game I can name, that if they put in a bundle, I will absolutely get. Either because A: I never got them in the past and/or B: I have them but I want them as an account unlock as well. The thing is people say that lockbox ships should be either bind to account on opening or at least have an account wide unlock option for Zen once you get one. They won't do that because eventually they'll end up in a Mudd Bundle, which they'll make more money from in the future. A lot of people will say the rip off is in the price which is true but the other rip-off, while admittedly being a great business decision from their perspective is having ships with a set bonus spilt between more than one bundle. For example the Temporal space set that comes with the Verne/Wells Class. Two of those ships are in one bundle for 2 out of 3 console set. The other one however is in a different bundle, so if you want the complete set, you need to buy 2 seperate bundles for the account wide unlocks or get the bundle with the 2 ships in and then the third ship from the Lobi store which then would be character bound unlike the other two.
CasualSAB - Thank you for your advice and recommendations. Between your videos on breakdowns on ships and the dailies - has been very helpful as well as your insights. LLAP!
I have a Hazari Destroyer because afaik its the only ship that looks close to a Gunstar from The Last Starfighter! If there's something else please lemme know!
tier lists get good clicks. get more of them. like some funny ones: most anoying maps or whatever, content out of nothing ^^ back to topic, with 75% i would got a pack. i think if they come with it again, it will be totaly unexpected for verry limited time. best wishes for 2023 to all of you
Not sure I agree that faith of the heart is a never buy. You are not wrong about the NX goodness in the 10th... and the elachi does blow. But at least it has an account unlock for the Experimental Proton Charge on the xindi. Ya ok that is a really expensive pack for that one experimental. It is a fun experimental though and the only weapon in the game that directly debuffs defense. (ok not a big thing) Anyway its imo one of the top 5 experimental in game. Not S tier no... but I would say one good ship. Cause lets face it we buy a lot of ships for for a trait or console. This one you can buy for an experimental. Possibly if you wanna use something other then a soliton now and then anyway. :)
Thank you again for this breakdown Spencer, it really helps me decide where to spend my money. :) I was wondering if you would consider a similar breakdown of the best single ships to get (those at 75% off in the Mudd store). I'm thinking about the Risian corvette (which I missed some years ago) for the Soliton Wave console, but I'm wondering if there are others to consider. I'm thinking that would be a short video, are there any items that are worth considering? For example, I got (a while ago) some of the combat pets (Targ, Elachi walker, Dino, Tardigrade, Crystal horta), and they all have their forces and weaknesses. I've equipped them on my BOFFS, except for the Walker that I click on for prolonged combat in an enclosed space. In any case, thank you again for sharing your time and thoughts! :)
Thanks, and is def something I will consider. A quick note: The Experimental Weapon from the current winter ship is outperforming the Soliton when its able to hit 2+ targets.
@@CasualSAB Also, does the Corvette come with the SWI? I thought it was the Weather Control vessel. I don't own either so I'm not 100% but heck, don't want this guy buying the wrong ship.
@@testdummy007 I'd only buy the bundle with the Amara in it (whatever it's called - the one with the trade bridge) but they introduced this sale at the end of December when the wallet runs dry. I got a few T6 tokens for future use though so I'm not too bummed out. Stupid time to have all the Mudd's stuff reappear if you ask me. And oh, I thought it was the weather control ship but okie doke.
I'm considering buying a Mega bundle as only started playing this year. I'm enjoying both torpedo and science builds atm, although my next character will be an engineer. Which should I get please?
As a new player, I'd lean towards the Kelvin Into Darkness bundle. The Kelvin Connie can work well as a torp platform and as a tank platform. The Heavy Destroyers can also do Torps quite well. It's not the most meta impactful bundle, but if you want a Mega, that's the one to get. You'll also get 2 T6 coupons, an Epic Phoenix Token, 9x T6X tokens, and 50 Keys from it alongside 7 ships.
@@CasualSAB And you never know, those Keys *may* (low chance, but it's there) become a ship itself. That'd be 9 account-wide ships (the 3 Factioned Kelvin ships; the 2 Faction versions of the Heavy Destroyer; the Jellyfish; the Vengeance; and 2 Z-Store ships), 1 character-specific (Phoenix Epic), and possibly 1 more character-specific for upwards of 11 ships possible (but realistically 10 + lot of Lock Box stuff and Lobi). At 30,000 Zen, that's 9 account-wide and 1 character-specific ship, matching the Z-Store's 3,000 Zen per ship (with a small chance of being ~2728 Zen each if a Master Key opens into a T6 Lock Box ship).
I think it's still a solid A tier. The value has certainly went up to justify it there, but it still doesn't have the type of impact the S-Tier options have imo.
The great thing with the Hur'q dread is that it's quite versatile. You can run it as a torp boat, a cannon boat, or a beam boat. If I were building one out right now, I'd likely go towards a cannon setup with CSV. Bunch of dual heavy cannons up front with turrets aft, and keep the front of it facing enemies at all times.
I am so "glad" I ´ve spent so much money on a ship 6 years ago and after coming back realizing it is worthless (Sheshar). Powercreep is the reason I cant stand MMO´s for long unfortunately
The Legendary Sovereign in the 10th bundle comes with the console/trait from the Vizier. And I think you can get the fleet version of the Vizier without buying the mudds one. Teemporal Vortex Probe I don't think I'd pay $20 for it.
I think I'd disagree on some points here. I think you rated the Stealing Time bundle too high - the Temporal Destroyers are underwhelming when compared to C-Store alternatives like the Edison, and who really cares about more admiralty cards? I'd rate it B-Tier at best. Sometimes I found your criteria inconsistent as well. For the Tholian Tarantula, which is a pretty mediocre ship, it being cool for the theme counts as an argument to rate it as a good ship. The same goes for some ships from the carrier bundle or the Paradox (which is a worse Damar), but not for other ships like the Xindi Sistruus (which isn't a worse platform than the Tarantula in my opinion). I mean, you said yourself that the ships in the Carrier bundle are okay but nothing too special, so why is it in A-Tier?
Those are all fair points. Regarding Stealing Time, I was bouncing around between this being S or A tier, and went with S because I felt it is a stronger offering than many of the A tier bundles. The Temporal Destroyer certainly isn't the best ship ever, but the console can be quite nice with the Temporal set for some niche use cases. Regarding the Carrier and Dread bundles, you're right that they probably should be down a tier depending on the buyer. And I think one of the factors I wasn't discussing as much as I should've was my experience with the ships. Those carriers and the Tholian Tarantula may not be the best stat wise, but they feel much more unique and enjoyable to fly vs those escorts in the Faith of the Heart bundle, so I rated them higher just based on my time with them.
all the mudds bundles should be in never buy by far the most disgusting anti consumer thing Cryptic has added to the game at their ridiculous price point
