I will never forget how John Lee Hooker set me back on my azz the first time I saw him in the 1970's. Imagine growing up on the Canadian prairies, moving to the west coast and then seeing John Lee Hooker at the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver, BC for the first time....I will NEVER forget it!! and thanks to him I fell in love with the blues. Words don't do it or these musicians justice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
damn we need more jams like this to go on around the world, bring back the music that has pure heart and soul. i'm doing my part to keep the blues alive, gig tonight at the roadhouse in Beloit, Wisconsin.
This is the Blues that grabbed me as a young man. Spacing is right there. Perfect. No shredding allowed. RIP to all the masters. Your shows were the very best. Nothing has even come close since those special days. Your spirited blues is still with me. Thank you so much.
This film is the first time I've seen them together too. John Lee Hooker's Live at the Cafe A Go-Go is with Muddy Waters' band, just in case you didn't know about that.
Saw Johnny Winter, and had opportunity to sit and meet him for about seven minutes in his motor home where he was gracious enough to talk and sign all of my early albums. This was a blessing because 6 months later he was gone.A true southern gentlemen so kind. I will never forget this time with one my favorite Blues players I truly admired for over 40 years. God bless you my Friend
That long white haired albino fella is no one less than Johnny Winters! THE Johnny Winters. Texas Johnny Winters. Edgar's brother. Muddy Waters son, Johnny Winters! On the same stage with John Lee and Muddy himself!!! And an assortment of greats and near greats. Wow. I'm stoked!
Same here! I still have album!!! dam do I sure feel older,, another Icon ,,,, and my day will come 2... No crying 4 me, U come into this world with everyone laughing, and talking,, thats the way I will depart this world,, only my daughter in law knows my wishes,,, Live Life Love!! and party on I want laughter,, no sobbing!! RIP Johnny! my oldest son will be 45,,, so I'm still young at heart and mind,,, Party 4 Johnny!!!!
90% of these greats on the stage are Dead and gone. So sad how music is going down the tubes. Thank god we have the memories! Foghat was also a great band!! Rod Price one of the best slide players and hugely underrated.
This is a true treasure. These videos are my history books. These gentlemen were all legends, but I love Muddy Waters the most- (& Big Mama Thornton). They are my angels ;)
It's interesting that I've always felt Rod Price was the baddest slide player I've ever seen, and he's up there with the greatest blues musicians of all time, including Johnny Winter, who's no slouch on the slide. Nice video! Thanks for sharing...
Got to appreciate all the good vibes tween the blues lovers here. It's good stuff. Keep it going, people. And what a collection of classy bluesmen in this (out of sync )video; tremendous!.
This has some cool cats singing a great song together. I'm in 7th heaven listening to this song & watching this video. Thanks so much for a spledid posting.
They really captured the essence of the original here :D This perhaps the best live Muddy I've heard. Dark, stirring. Great to see him and JLH enjoying eachother.
oH MY GOD; this is one of the best gifts ever; what a treasure this one is...THANK YOU SO MUCH; I will now share it with two friends at least who I know will enjoy and pass it on...THANK YOU AGAIN For all you send out...u guys are the best of the best!
@BLUESMANRONCHICAGO If it's available in Australia, you have one sale aready! Keep it up, keep the flame burning, and know that we're all here listening and appreciating!!
Don't forget, that's the Late, GREAT, Lonesome Dave on Tonsils and Guitar! (AND Chuck Taylor's ) and the ALWAYS AWESOME Roger "Keep On Rockin" Earl on Drums !
Oh shit, I've been looking for this clip - I was at this show!! Fucking awesome, seeing all these guys jamming on the same stage and at a relatively small theater...
Kat Hagan Oh they certainly were ;) I was a huge Foghat fan - seeing them would have been awesome enough...but being joined onstage with all my other heroes made this the Holy Grail of rock concerts ;) There were two back to back shows at the Palladium that weekend. I can't remember who played which day, but Foghat played the one night, and J. Geils Band played the other - I went to both :)
Your pep rallies? Now that's cool :) I was so excited when he came out onstage - I'd always admired him and his brother. Unfortunately, this was the only time I ever got to see him play live - which is odd, considering how many concerts I used to go to back then.
I've been in this chain of videos for ages just picking vids out of the related videos column. I don't think it's ever going to stop there's never any i don't want to hear or don't like it's so fucking awesome.
Cool, man. My second-ever rock concert was Johnny - at Winterland ....some good ol' daze. I'm commenting too, because I used to visit my Grandparents in Watseka. A certain Allen Decker actually still leases and operates some farmland my folks own out there. Cheers!
If you know nothing about the BLUES, just read a few of the previous comments. Almost everyone here pays tribute to these guys. These are the Gods, the creators, the foundation of the BLUES!
I think Lonesome Dave of Foghat should be included in the credit's at the top of the video, just a suggestion.great video, keep on rockin my fellow Music lover..THEEHASHMON
