Mudlarking For The Small Things - Did We Find Gold?

This week we went back to our favorite beach to sift through the small things. In the process, Kate picked up something she thought was insignificant but maybe it is gold! We do not know for certain at this point but it is an exciting prospect whichever way. Some people have told us it is definitely gold and others who say it isn't. Let us know what you think (we are waiting for a test to arrive)

Happy 1 year anniversary!!! It's so hard to tell if your beautiful bangle is in fact gold by just looking at the video. The only reason we are a little sceptical is because gold is is a none reactive metal and when you first found it it wasn't shiny, the green also makes us think it could be brass. I know it sounds weird but can you smell it? Brass smells (even tastes) like brass but gold would not smell or taste of anything. Can't wait to see what the testing kit comes out as though, fingers crossed we're wrong! We also can't believe how many legs you find, we still haven't found a complete dolls arm ever! Alex xx

Well done Kate, what a haul, look after that back Fleur, it's so uncomfortable doing anything with a bad back. Loving Oscars odd socks, I have 6 boys and two girls and they have all done that through the years and the younger boys still do, it made me laugh. That was so much fun! It was good to see Oscar again, I loved seeing him kicked back on the beach reading a book. So many great finds, but the gold bracelet was spectacular! You mentioned in one of your videos ,Kate, that you hoped one day to be able to tile your bathroom with pieces of pottery; wouldn't it be amazing to add some pieces of sea glass into it. When the floor gets sealed the glass would look wet and keep that beautiful wet sea glass look. I can almost see it. I hope to see your home one day in a video. : ) I also want to add; I really enjoyed this video, the way you zoomed in on; tems as you picked them up. Nice selection of finds and I have to congratulate you not just on a year gone to mudlarking, but also on the quality of editing, graphics and sound, does enhance the watchability! Your bangle very much reminds me of the Indian bangles worn virtually by the dozen, used to love them myself, and often they are enamelled or have infill in the 'dents' - not always gold, obviously, if this has some age to it, it could be early C20th - Gail & Alex have some good ID suggestions. Glad your back is improving - it is not fun hardly being able to stand, let alone walK! Keep well, have fun! 😎👍🦘🐾🍀

A tiny dab of toothpaste and a patient gentle brushing may clean it up fairly quickly. My mother was a jeweller and used it to clean old pieces she got in auctions. We're waiting for the gold dance at the opening of the reveal !
