As much as I loved hearing news about Mudvayne reunion back in 2021, it's kind of sad what it seems to be turning into. I understand that Chad is over 50 years of age now and his vocal parts are quite demanding, but I guess there's just not enough work or practice that he has put into it to work. I surely believe that even at his age it is possible to regain some of the strength he used to have and to utilize proper technique that wouldn't ruin his voice in the 1h20 mins of the first show of the tour. I would really love for Mudvayne to release new record and continue to tour while they still can, but Chad needs some vocal coaching for it all to succeed for years they still have in them and I'm all rooting for him here, cause the world needs these songs and the world needs them live, but in a manner that does recordings justice.
I saw him in hellyeah a few years ago and he looked great.. Was in shape and sounded great.. This isent an old age thing, He's just really let himself go and it's affecting his vocals
In fact, he didn't even let himself go much, he just started going to gym and take some supplements which ended up with him gaining some weight along with muscles, but he does not seem to be doing enough cardio work to support the new weight, hence why it seems like he's out of breath at a lot of times. If he maintained being thin like he used to be during 2010s in Hellyeah - there likely would've been much less performance issues now, look at Dez Fafara, surely, nowhere near as technical, but he's pretty much still delivering it at 58.
