JazakAllahKheir, I am an American revert of 30 years. My father, brother, uncles, grandfathers will never support me because of their hate for islam. My ex husband took my money, and never repaid while married, I paid for the education for all of our children, food, rent, clothes…I did end up divorcing him. He never tried to repay me everything I spent from my own pocket. As I am getting older and my health is declining my two sons ignore the fact I need help and then shame me when I seek help from out community . However my daughter helps me far more than her father, and brothers. If I could work I would but as my rights were not given to me from a man that was only muslim by name, Allah has always taken care of me! I am not oppressed, I AM BLESSED! I gave the foundation of islam to my children when I came from non-believers ! I educated them in everything of islam as their father never practiced one min of our marriage. He only came back after I divorced him and our children led him to pray again. I may not have money now, But I know I gave the gift of islam ! I pray for my sons, I forgive them for turning their back on their own mother. We all have our tests, and this is mine! My children were never mine in the first place, they always belonged to Allah. If I have to die in the streets to save my childrens souls then I am always ready to make that sacrifice ! Money, wealth, clothes, cars, makeup, shoes, computers , have never been important to me…my birth family bad mouths my own children for not helping me, I can only pray for Allah to open their hearts because they will never understand I was ALLOWED by Allah to have the gift of Islam! The only thing I want for my children is just a few minutes of their time! Even though my birth family when hating me, I keep loving them and give my parents there rights. My mother when she died, she told me she never understood why I am muslim, but she is so proud of how kind and loving I am, she begged me for forgiveness, she said you have always been more my mother than my daughter, I told her momma I forgave you long ago…being a woman, a mother, a daughter, a sister, a niece, an aunt, a grandmother is a blessing that some will never understand. Please children, all your mother wants is a little time and your love!

We are from the same maker but different technique and different functions. Women have their own function, because Allah created them differently than the men.

Mufti Menk seems to have a very Rational way explaining His Religion/Quran/status /rights of women/responsibilities of males towards women. If ALL Muslim Males were interpreting/thinking and living by his explanations/ interpretation Rather then interpreting their Holy book in ways that benefit and suit mainly themselves while disregarding her Rights maybe the non-Muslim world would not feel so threatened/insulted by their book and way of life. Nevertheless the non-Muslims world FEELS SERIOUSLY THREATENED and INSULTED by those taking to the streets in HOSTILE ways telling us that we will be conquered/outbred/their SHARIA will RULE OUR way of live /world, Democracy will be replaced by Sharia/Hate secretly preached in Masjids/tought in Islamic schools. Maybe more Mufti Menks should be PREACHING and while you at it WHY NOT do " something " then to get the hateful ones OFF the streets tell them STOP threatening/insulting OUR WAY of LIFE !
