Once again we have a child with known problems, a history of threats, and parents who were made aware and failed to do anything. I hope that his parents are also charged.

Parents need to be charged also. Last year he was investigated for threats, after FBI talking to him and his father, they decided that they did not have enough evidence against him. Where are we going wrong?

His father was questioned by the FBI last year about this student making threats. The father said that he owned guns but that his son did not have unsupervised access to them. So how did he get a gun? His father needs to be charged if he allowed the son access to a gun after learning from the FBI that his son had threatened a school shooting.

The mother Marcee Gray also has a lengthy criminal record spanning two decades from domestic violence, drug possession, property damage, traffic violations, and civil fraud charges.

Why do we have 100k football fields at schools and still no metal detectors is a real question?

At 14 he kills innocent people. How sad for the victims and their families.

My high school is only about 25 minutes away from Apalachee Hs. As a high school student, I and other students were all heartbroken when we heard this- as well as terrified. With so many untrue rumors going around we had no choice but to be afraid to go to school today. Many people I know did not show up, I did and it felt very abnormal. An increase in security and police, as well as SRO. We took a moment of silence in respect of the innocent victims from the school. In honor of the victims, many of us, myself included, wore navy blue which represents their school color to show our support. May the 4 who were killed rest in peace, praying for their families as well as for the injured. This is absolutely heartbreaking, us students should not be afraid to receive an education

Another shooter that the FBI knew about and cleared. That kid needed serious help, and everyone failed him. When will we start taking mental health issues seriously??

I was in a school shooting and my class was also involved in 2014 in troutdale OR. The nightmares still come. I truly don’t think i’ll ever be the same. It’s hard to be in public. I Pray for these kids. I was also 14 at the time.

What about the parents? Where are their mug shots?

14 years old and going to spend the rest of his life in prison for what. If he lives to be 75 that’s 61 years in prison. Hopefully his parents are right next to him.

A bus driver today had a gun pointed at her when a middle schooler got off the bus. I honestly think no one wants to deal with anything serious. They just want to go to work, do the minimum and go home.

Today's youth is lost. No empathy no morals no sense of right and wrong.

I retired from a 30 year teaching career in 2021. Been through three school shooting situations. Situation 1: A gunman was fleeing police and got onto our campus. We went into lockdown and the cops caught him before anyone was harmed. 2008. Situation 2: A student of mine threatened his classmates. I was a witness and told our principal and school resource officer. They found weapons, ammo, and a bulletproof vest in the trunk of the kid's car (in the school parking lot). He had the event planned for his birthday, three days later. 2011. Situation 3: A student roamed the hallways of our school with a gun. We went into lockdown and the police disarmed him before he shot anyone. 2014. 30 years, 1991-2021, and all of the school shooting type situations occurred since 2008. It was considered such a rare event before 2008 that we didn't bother training for it. What changed? Great Financial Crisis broke a lot of people financially and psychologically. Our society has never been healed from that trauma--in fact, the opposite. Everything has gotten worse every year since 2008 and there's no signs of anyone trying to make it better. We need politicians and other leaders in society who'll bring us together and rebuild our society. Instead, we get politicians whose biggest concerns are giving money to illegal aliens and to the corrupt government of Ukraine. From Obama on, we haven't had leadership that truly cares about us, and it shows. We're a broken people. I'm old enough to remember when we weren't. I grew up in a small town in Kansas where all the boys had guns in racks in our pickup trucks (hunting rifles). No one ever thought those guns were a threat. Can't imagine that now, can you?
