I love and hate this at the same time. Hate to see Muhammed Ali tremoring with Parkinson's. Love that he was chosen to light the torch.

I remember this because I was one of the Olympic athletes on the field. The Greatest and one of the greatest event of my life!

I was 8 years old at the time and thought he was really nervous.

My heart is broken. My hero. My inspiration. He taught me to fight and to never give up. There was never anyone like him. And the world will never see his like again.

I'll never forget my father's reaction.... He felt in tears when he saw this legend in this moved moment.... Seeing him so much ill made my father cry so much..... The greatest moment in sports history. I have to watch again after hearing Ali is gone. I remember when I was very young, my mother woke me up in the middle of the night (german time zone). Because Ali was fighting, I was a four year girl and a huge fan. After Ali I never saw someone boxing - my interest was gone. I have seen THE GREATEST. No one compares with him - as a boxer, as a fighter, as a man. Don´t look only his boxing career - look what he have done for civil rights. He IS still the greatest. Ever and ever.

I was 16 when this happened and never saw Ali fight during his time. But when I saw him light the torch, I got a real-time sense of the unmatched magnetism and excitement he evoked when he fought! I got goosebumps! I found out the effect Ali had on people that day.

Ali was a wonderful individual that brought many people together all over the world. I'm sorry he had to suffer thru this illness for the last several decades of his life. It breaks my heart how much he was shaking. No man was greater than him and no man will ever be greater than him because no man will ever be so loved by the public as much as this man was ever again.

One of the most heartbreaking films ever made. As you watch Ali's Parkinson's tremors, you can almost feel every punch to the head he ever took. My sister is in the late stages of the same terrible disease.

Whenever I think of iconic Olympic moments I think of this. I'm deeply by the passing of a timeless legend. Some athletes call themselves the best or the greatest. But there only ever was one Greatest Of All Time. And he certainly was. Gone but his sporting and greatness will live on forever. RIP Champ

The argument can be made that he was not the best boxer ever, but there is no argument that he will be remembered forever. When I saw this LIVE' in 1996 ( I was 33 & Muhammad Ali was right there with Elvis as my childhood HERO's!)...watching it as I said LIVE', I cried like a baby! I was watching history! This had to be one of Ali's many thrills in his amazing life! I will always love and respect what he was to this little Italian growing up in the east bay town of Pittsburg, Ca. I'll be 54 in 2 weeks and I am so happy I came from the era I did !! I caught the 2nd half of this man's life! I was 7 in 1970 when he came back after getting fucked over in the prime of his life as far as the Ring goes! However, to make $ he would speak at colleges all over the USA! That's another great part of his life, if he was still Champ from 67'-69' he would not have had the time to speak for a WHOLE GENERATION! That's exactly what HE did, also was proved to be 1000% right about Vietnam and all it's bullshit!! He is one of the greatest people of all~time!

I was 10 at the time, the first Summer Olympics I remember watching. Seeing Ali lighting up the Olympic Fire is the first summer olympic memory I have. Rest In Peace the greatest boxer of all time. Possibly and probably the greatest athlete of all time.
