This fight was stopped after Ali missed 5 or 6 straight punches. WTF??? One of the, if not THE worst jobs of refereeing I've seen in that time period. Terrible. Ali didn't look all that good in this fight. I'd go so far as to say he looked way below average.....

Floyd Patterson was never a true heavyweight. He usually gave up muscular body weight to opponents. Patterson would have remained undefeated fighting as a light-heavyweight or even as a cruiser-weight.

Ali possessed the uncanny ability to know what his opponent was going to do in advance. This enabled him to out maneuver and keep is opponent off balance all the while enabling him to land beautiful yet lethal combinations almost at will. Those in the audience could only marvel at what they were witnessing. Those who actually relished seeing a young heavyweight master approaching peak form that is.

Ali his speed is godly here…it didn’t matter what Floyd threw, none of that is doing anything and that’s what exhausted all his other contemporaries during this time. In the 60's Ali usually started fights wicked fast to feel out the opponent, then adjust from there. I see Tyson bull rushing this version of Ali but mostly hitting air because Ali would probably be at full speed and reflexes knowing Tyson's reputation of knocking everyone out fast, then slow Tyson's pace and make him fight Ali's fight. If Tyson hits too hard and extremely aggressive then Ali goes full speed with his stick and move strategy. Patterson obviously is not a threat here, so Ali slows way down to his pace. The best speed and reflexes I ever saw for Ali was probably the first round of the first Liston fight. He knew Liston was a killer in the ring, so he had to be extra cautious, feel Liston's power and aggressiveness and go from there.

It was bothering him for 8 months when he faced Ali it was so swollen from camp he couldnt run more than than a few yards. He had sought postponement of the fight to have time for both his shoulder and knee to heal, but it was denied. Sonny was injred both fights and wasnt fully recovered and after Ali team wiped out the vaseline with water he started feeling better after.

In the previous rounds I would tire out my opponent just like did to my little brother in sparring with 12 rounds and 2 minutes because I was floating like a butterfly and stinging like a bee, If me in my prime in the 15th round could go to the distance, I would knockout a person 2 or 1.7 seconds before the round ends at 0 seconds

Thing is ppl look at this fight and think ali would dismantle tyson but if you carefully pay attention. Patterson 🙄 was making ali miss most his shots, only thing Patterson did wrong was him not closing the gap and getting in his punching range. He bobbed and weave on the outside for too long and literally tired himself out. If you pay attention the ref didn't stop the fight because Patterson was taking punches he stopped the fight cause Patterson gased out! Also Patterson was known for alot of ppl liking him because he was known for being nice im pretty sure ref was just looking out because he knew Patterson didn't know how to get to ali. (Patterson was no Tyson)

@@GreekTek tyson would have lost badly to a fucking old foreman that's why he avoided him like the plague. Really I can't understand why so many people believe they have a boxing knowledge when in fact they don't know shit! Styles make fights. Alì beat frazier twice even after having spent many years in jail (probably his best years) and he was twenty times mentally stronger and resilient than tyson and was a very bad match to Alì cause he didn't leave any space. If they have met in 1967 frazier probably didn't last the 10 round. Tyson was never an in-fighter, never consistent at all and capable of staying focused and mentally strong until the final bell. He was a good finisher in the first and second round but Alì was another level and had probably the strongest will ever, maybe comparable only to Marciano. He played opponents like a cat with a mouse. Anyway, everyone got his opinion, and I respect it.

@@GiangoPT you’re commenting from a position of hatred of Tyson. I can agree, I hate the PERSON he was for a long time. But saying that Tyson would lose to a fighter who’s prime was in the 60’s, whereas Tysons era saw the next evolution of human athleticism. Tyson would break Ali. George Foreman and Sonny Liston would also lose, because they are way too slow and have no endurance.

It’s amazing to see all the Mike Tyson comments here. I have respect for Tyson’s ability, but can anyone name a single high quality heavyweight in their prime that Iron Mike defeated? You can’t. Tyson wasn’t even the best heavyweight of his own era ( that would be Lennox Lewis). Even well after his prime, Ali defeated classic heavyweights that were superior to anyone Tyson ever fought. And Tyson had no heart at all when he did face half way decent punchers. Ridiculous fantasies about Tysons mythological career. Ali is so way out of his league.

I have a similar opinion. Yet tyson was the best 86-88. tucker, bruno was good, only great guy he beat was spinks before he went to prison
@patrickgaspard9811
@patrickgaspard9811 Год назад
@@LegendsofBoxinginColor and let’s remember that the Spinks he beat was a puffed up light heavyweight who came into the ring as a terrified 4-1 underdog. Tyson never defeated a highly regarded heavyweight in their prime. Never. And let’s remember how psychologically fragile he was. Can you imagine what Ali would have done to his mind in the months before a fight? This man couldn’t even deal with Evander Holyfield without snapping. Imagine what Ali would have done with his psyche.
