Placing the proper size multi pass weld on 3/8” aluminum with pulsed MIG in 2F position. The materials and welding position dictate the size and technique.

Can you do thicker stuff without the pulsed MIG? I just bought my welder and I opted out of pulsed MIG to save money.

YES the thicker the material is the less you need or want pulse ….! Pulse cools the weld on thick material you want all the power you can get

Pulse has advantages on all materials. Thick or thin. Has nothing to do with "POWER" has to do with a different type of arc. "cools the material, you want all the power you can get" is simply wrong. Turn it up and burn it in is exactly how welding doesn't work. What does "thicker" mean? we have welded for 125 years without Pulsation. Has nothing to do with thick or thin materials, has to do with how the metal crosses the arc and is deposited into the puddle
