I really wanted to do a video for this song. It holds personal meaning to me.

My version of the story: Dean has a drinking problem, so he left Ben and his family. But after he moved out Ben's mother became depressed, further proving Dean's point that he ruins everything he touches. Ben grows up (Into the man from South Paw) and he has a child with a drunk, abusive, drug addict. Their daughter Leila stays at home, witnessing her mother doing drugs, drinking, and bears the brunt of her temper.
After Leila's mother dies, she's taken from her home. Ben tries to get her back, but being an addict himself, they refuse to let him take her. Leila admits that she wishes he had died instead of her mother, because at least when her mother was alive she had a home.
Leila is eventually put in a home with a nice family, but she's grown up jaded and rebellious. In the middle of a fight with her foster mom, Leila says something that causes the woman to slap her. Her foster mom felt bad and tried to apologize, but Leila couldn't hear her as she was lost in a flashback of when she was a child and her mom used to hit her. Dean thinks back on the day he left his family, looking at pictures of his mom who was an addict herself. She left Dean when he was four and he never got over it. (Like mother like son.)
Neither of Leila's parents shows up to her graduation and Leila finds herself remembering more and more about her childhood. She remembers how after Ben managed to get her out of the group home, she would often find Ben passed out in his car from drugs and alcohol in the morning before school. Ben drove while he was high, having a vivid flashback of the day Dean left and crashes into a tree.
Leila tells her foster mother that she was in the car. Dean finally tracks down his mother looking for answers, but Mary doesn't have what he's looking for as she's never gotten over her addiction making Dean believe there is no hope for himself. Leila remember's the day her mother died after falling through the shower and Dean visits his mother's grave. Leila remembers trying to take care of Ben but being too small that he falls. She remembers thinking that he was the dead...the same way her mother died after she fell from the shower. She wakes up screaming every night from nightmares from her childhood, same as Ben and Dean. Dean left to stop Ben from becoming him, but Ben still ended up becoming an addict bringing the mother of his child and Leila into the fire with him. Leila jumps off a cliff,, thinking about the car accident that killed her father Ben.
