Thank you! Many people didn't think we could pull it off with getting an A-list star like him on, but sometimes you gotta fight for what you believe in!
I'd previously worked with him on a television series called "Ride Upon The Storm", which he won an International Emmy-award for. So we already knew each other and he's just a really down to earth kind of guy who enjoys a challenge.
Why is this so underrated? I hope it gets more reach. Lars mikkelson role was nice. Really amazing alien costumes and setup it just looks so high budget level quality
And all of this was done on a budget corresponding to about 1% of the budget of a single episode of "The Mandalorian". The power of volunteer efforts mixed with super talented people!
We have a Facebook Page, where a lot of the info on the creation of the film is present: facebook.com/sarwarsstarwars But long story short: He's an acting colleague and I presented a strong story for him. Plus it helped to have a test scene ready that showed him, what we were capable of: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MB72G7JdW-I.html
I cannot wait for Part 2. You guys went all out with the prosthetics for the aliens, the special effects were the best I've seen from a fan project, and the leads were fantastic. On top of that, it just really FELT like Star Wars, which is probably the most difficult thing to achieve. Bravo!
Would you be okay with us sharing your comment in a short trailer for the episode? It would probably help our future fans to know that others have been delighted by the work! :-)
Thank you! I feel I've seen a few that were emotionally engaging, but it's definitely not the majority, I can agree with you there. The "secret" was not to approach this as a fan film, but a regular film or television series with characters dealing with real emotions and issues (as one can expect from this storytelling universe).
This was actually great. The tension, the pacing, music, dialogue. Plus I can't believe you got Lars Mikkelsen to play a Rogue Jedi. He's cool af as a Jedi
Having specifically written the character for Lars Mikkelsen, I wholly agree that Lars as a Jedi is quite the experience! And thank you for appreciating the work in its many other facets. A lot of hard work was poured into it!
Thank you, Ava! And agreed about Lars Mikkelsen! When I came up with the idea of him as a Force Wielder, I knew that there had to be ONE particular thing he'd be adept at and that was the Jedi Mind Trick, because who in their right mind wouldn't do what he said with that brilliant voice of his? :-D Thanks for watching. :-)

So this is where Grand Admiral Thrawn have been hiding all these years 😀 Kudos to all involved for an amazing job. There is no try, only do and you all did.
Lars Mikkelsen was excellent. I Thought it was him and as soon as I heard his voice. I knew it was the man who played Thrawn. So excellent that he is appears in your film. He is such a great actor. He shines like a diamond. The bar scene looks awesome. The aliens, costumes, and set were of high production value. I wish the Disney Star Wars series had more aliens. Well done!
That's wonderful to hear! Sophia sets a high bar for her entertainment channel, so it's great that fans of hers can find value in my channel as well. :-)
WHAT?! That was amazing! I have never seen a Star Wars fan film quite as high-caliber as this, and I can't lie when I say I've watched close to a hundred. This was pure cinema from the opening shot until the credits rolled, and I will definitely be back to watch it again and again. Incredible work.
Thank you! That means the world to us! Would you be okay with us sharing your comment in a short trailer for the episode? It would probably help our future fans to know that others have been delighted by the work! :-)
So many emotions watching all of our hard work come together so beautifully! ❤❤❤ This project opened up so much for me, we accomplished so much! Nice work to the entire cast and crew, and especially Shahbaz for honoring everyone’s efforts and making sure it got published!
I'm blown away! Wildly impressive effects, costumes and excellent acting. Everything was just perfect, it all just worked. I can't wait for part two. When is the second part coming?
Thank you very much! We've all worked very hard to make sure that people would be able to view this and feel that it was authentic, which is especially hard on a micro budget for a production of this scale. :-) Part II is currently in the works, but I don't have a clear answer on when it'll be out!
One of the proud SFX-artist of the production here! Lots of love go out to everyone, who have had and continue to have hours of work on this! And thank you to all backers and fans! Good things come to those who wait (even further) - there are LOTS of shots I'm looking forward to as much as the next guy :)
So very happy to have had you onboard the project! And we're all VERY MUCH looking forward to seeing how people respond to your astounding work on one particular scene... ;-)
Thank you! I feel that this episode's biggest focus is exactly dialogue, so I'm happy that it's being pointed out! And Lars Mikkelsen is fantastic in this!
We're doing our best to make sure that it gets there! But we're gonna need some media attention, if we're truly gonna make it into those numbers, as it rightfully deserves (maybe a little biased here... :-D)
This is the best Star Wars Fan Film I have ever seen...it could be put on television tomorrow. Every aspect of this film was top notch...the acting, sets, effects, sound, story...just amazing!
Thank you! Our goal was for the entire released episode to be the best fan film ever, so it'll be interesting to see, how people will rate the different parts against each other... :-D But no, it is a work that needs to be seen together to garner the full appreciation as it's really interconnected.
Would you be okay with us sharing your comment in a short trailer for the episode? It would probably help our future fans to know that others have been delighted by the work! :-)
I reeeeally like the headspace of him getting jedi mindtricked by him. Cause you never really see it from the others perspective. Cool as fuck. Love it🙌 can't wait for the next part😁 Godt arbejde Shahbaz😉👍
Thank you! Of all the things in the episode that I like (of which there are many), I was most excited to bring this aspect to the Star Wars live action universe and was dreading that it might be done in a Disney-production before we got to show it to the world. VFX-artist Mitchell Reaser and I worked on different versions of this and I was particularly happy about the background slowing down for each shot of Tulek being "attacked" until the change was complete. But also that it serves as a character moment for Okana as well, that you get to see his kind of playful side, when he's portrayed by actress Dorte Rømer.
Eleonora el-Azem did an amazing job designing the costumes and her team of costume designers really helped us create this lived-in experience that I was eager to have the clothing look like.
Thank you! I hope that professional film production companies get to see our work, because I would like to make a production, where I'm actually allowed to make money off of the final result. For now, I'm more than happy to receive the positive accolades, since money isn't on the table. So thank you for taking the time to comment, it means a lot!
Oh..... My..... God!!!!! This is beyond all I've seen from a fan fic.... It could as well be a Disney Production.... as a backer I can only say: It was worth the wait.... As af fan i would complain that it wasn't long enough.... ;-)
Gun Kata had too short a life span in film and that's a bloody shame. Joon (of JP Stunts) and I were discussing how we could make blaster bolt fights different and more intriguing and this was one of my great desires to bring to a universe with colorful blaster fire, since I'm a BIG Equilibrium fan. :-) A lot of effort was put into having light spill on the characters and surroundings, so it looked as real as possible, knowing that it is quite a fantastical style to bring in to a story that's trying to be as grounded as possible. But it IS Star Wars. We gotta have some spectacle, right?
Fantastic to be able to be a part of this enthralling and ambitious project! What an incredible production only possible with our dedicated and exceptionally talented cast and crew! I already look forward to continuing Part 2! For now, it is time to celebrate though! Wohoo!!!
took me a second to realise that the old guy was literally Grand Admrial Thrawn ,that's so cool that you guys got him to do this film with you i really enjoy fan films and this is one of my favourites
Glad to hear that you've appreciated it so much that it's among your favourites! That's what the work is done for and it's very encouraging to hear. Thank you!
Worth the wait! Congrats to everyone involved. One of the best SW fan films out there for sure. Glad there was more of a focus on characters and dialogue than just simple thrills and action to pad out the run time. While that's always been a great part of star wars, the characters and story have always been the beating heart of the franchise and I'm glad this kept true to that. Hope to see more unfold in the future! Thanks for all the hard work. 🙏
Thank you so much for being patient with us and sharing your thoughts on our work! My entire goal was to bring the storytelling and characters front and center and I feel that a lot of the commenters are responding positively to that. Well, if you subscribe to the channel, you'll be amongst the first people to know, when Part II comes out! :-)
@@elessar60 His voice was in my head as I was writing his dialogue. It really does wonders for the writing process! And thank you for your compliments!
Happy that you were delighted to see the fantastic Lars Mikkelsen in our production! I do feel that there's enough difference between Thrawn and Okana Vidai to warrant the notion that they're two separate entities, wouldn't you say? ;-)
Hej Shahbaz Sarwar. Mega fed produktion 👍jeg stiller gerne op hvis du mangler statister en anden gang. Jeg har været med i et par større danske produktioner som statist. Med venlig hilsen Rasmus
It’s a small mistake, but I noticed that “Jedi”, was spelled “Jedis” in the opening text. It’s supposed to just be “Jedi” when plural as well. But idk man, i’m just a geek lmao
You'd think that after so many years that I'd be mindfuld of not letting such a brain fart slip through the cracks, eh? But no. Just gotta own up to the fact that I botched that one. 😀 Hope you liked something in the episode at least. 😀
I can imagine more will notice over time, but I'd showed it to more than 500 people and NO ONE pointed that out, so it's not like I didn't try to get it fixed! :-D
They haven't done so with the other Fanmade shortfilms, so i would be suprised if they did do that. (They should just take the whole team in and make a series :-D)
With more than 20 years of fan films online, I'm fairly confident that it won't happen. But yes, we knew that our production was going to look quite high end, so that's one of the reasons why I insisted on having "Fan Production" in our title, so there'd be no doubt. :-) What a treat it is that Lucasfilm allows its fans to partake in its IP in thus a manner. A real gift.
Thank you, Buhay! Hope you'll watch some of the other stuff related to this universe as well on the channel or spruce it up with some of the other stuff! :-)
Personally, I'm a HUGE fan of Rogue One and Andor and there are other properties like Tales of the Jedi, Clone Wars Season 7 and Rebels that had me greatly entertained, but not everything is for everyone. But I'm happy that you found our work to be worth your time, that's the best I can hope for with such a limited budget and everyone working as volunteers. :-)
Congrats to you as well! Keeping this ship moving at a steady speed was no small feat considering you were brought in merely 8 days in advance to plot out 8 days of shooting. Not a lot of folks like you out there, and I'm honored to have had you on the team!
This is an absolute masterpiece. The setup, the overall mood, the effects and most of all the dialogues and pacing are all impeccable. I was glued to the screen during the exchange between Tulek and Vendal, the atmosphere was so tense, brilliant acting by Mr Sarwar and Mr Mikkelsen. This belongs on the big screen, I am already 100 percent hooked. A big thank you to everyone involved for creating this masterpiece, I hope this project gets continued! Can’t go more Star Wars than this…
Thank you SO very much for your comment! You're probably our prime audience, judging by what you felt was engaging, so I'm quite pleased to hear from you. :-) We'll be putting up a sneak peak of Part II soon enough on our channel. ;-)
This was really good. Thank you. Did a great job. The dark jedi was great and the bounty hunter grew on me. Keep it up. Rather watch this than disney.....
This fan film is amazing; somehow I felt Mikkelsens characets is between Ewan's Obi-Wan Kenobi and Alec's old Ben Kenobi. Maybe a bit more grey; but its quite a new interpretation of ruge Jedi. My advise is, that you should change this Thumbnail, it wont attract many attention; make a new one, maybe with Mikkelsen on it. Btw I would love to see some behind the scenes footage guys!
Thank you for that comment! Part II will feel vastly different in genre, and it'll be interesting to see how fans of Part I will respond to Part II! Hope to hear from you regardless, when that time comes! :-)
So this is what thrawn doing in his free time. Awesome work guys! However you got Mikkelsen for this - brilliant! The other actors fit in so well. Just thank you, for your hard work!
Thank you, Buddy! ;-) Sometimes you just gotta ask! We'll continue to work hard after a small break, because the story only gets more exciting in Part II!
Costumes are amazing and the acting are really really good, I knew Lars would be good, and shahbaz was suprisingly good, I wonder why we havent seen him more in Danish TV.
That's very kind of you to say! Ironically, one of the many reasons for making this film was one small desire that this could lead to more work on film and television, but I feel that Part II truly makes the performance more nuanced and complete. Tulek's stakes in the episode keep him from expressing too much emotion as he's trying to hide his intent from Okana for as long as possible, which meant having to break the episode into three was especially egregious, but my own ambitions put aside, it was important to have all the other people's work shine and I am happy that people are responding well to the plethora of other great things that the episode was blessed with. :-)
@@SarwarsStarwars i hope it does lead to more, you have good chemistry with Lars. Lars is nothing less than magnificent in his acting, must been quite the experience to act with him. Let's cross fingers this will lead to more, and I hope Danish press will make stories about the project and support it. 😊
Incredible work!! Have been following this production for several years, and you can all be proud of the amazing work you have done. Can't wait for part 2 (and 3) :)
Thank you, Kim! We really wanted to make sure that the waiting time was rewarded and one can never know, when something has been in postproduction for so long... But it seems that people are very understanding of our situation and that makes our efforts all the worthwhile.
This is one of the best Star Wars fan films I've ever seen. Take notes disney, oh wait they don't care about making quality Star Wars content anymore...
@@SarwarsStarwars if you enjoyed andor I'm happy for you. I for one and done with disney. They have insulted the fans, poorly written too many shows an movies, and their executives are trying to groom kids in negative ways. I'm just going to watch awesome fan films like yours from now on. That's where Star Wars still lives for me.
That's really funny! :-D And a lot of people did fall for it, but Lars' hands and mouth were bound to secrecy, so it was a long period of misdirection and lying on his part and he hates it. :-D
Okay. I understand it took a long time to make this movie with volunteers and Covid-19 being a pain in the ass. My question is WHEN THE HELL IS PART 2 COMING OUT! This was frakin awesome!!!😜
I'll need a big army of VFX-artists to join and that'll be possible depending on the success of Part I. The fact that so many volunteers joined not knowing whether this would take or not is astounding. But Part I's "mission" (amongst many) is also to assure future artists that their work will not be in vain and will be seen and appreciated. Also one of the reasons why I decided to highlight the names of VFX-artists in the credits, because they're usually relegated to the back. Their work was vital for the completion of the film and it remains the same case for Parts II and III, both of which are filmed and edited.
@@SarwarsStarwars That makes perfect sense and should be that way. Otherwise, you wouldn't have had a movie to show. Tell the lads and lassies they did a great job. 👍
OK, this is excellent and completely re-defines whatever notions I may have had of what a "fan production" is. Everything about this production is of the highest quality, not the least of which is the acting talent. So often these fan films have excellent production values, but are let down by OTT acting, but most definitely not this one. I am much anticipating the next episodes.
Thank you so much for this comment. I wanted to do exactly this: Challenge the notion of what a fan film could be for the exact reasons that you are rightly pointing out. The acting part hasn't been the greatest focus in the majority of them and I was blessed to have access to some truly wonderful actors and actresses with veteran status in the industry, who made my job as writer, director and actor a lot easier as well.
Would you be okay with us sharing your comment in a short trailer for the episode? It would probably help our future fans to know that others have been delighted by the work! :-)
Well, when you have an international star playing the jedi, it has to be good. Lars Mikkelsen (The Witcher, House of Cards, Borgen, Sherloxk) is the older brother of Mads Mikkelsen.
Thank you, Brian! The more people we can get to watch, like, and comment, the greater reach this episode will have and the easier our continued work will be!
Knock on Netflix door ! Think there's a mini series in the making ... Tho having another series might have already corned this theme? Good luck enjoyed
Well, Netflix wouldn't be taking on an IP for a different company, but they'd be smart to give me a call and throw some money at me, so I can make some of my original content instead. :-D
OKAY, this the Star Wars spirit I missed so dearly for the late Star Wars fan films. This has the same magic, I felt in the late 2000's fan films, where the creators actually had a vision - not just a random forest, with a short film story. You have original characters; you managed to introduce your characters mostly throung conversation, but the visuals were still dope. And you clearly knew how to make a film. I belive when a cinematographer is also a Star Wars fan, its a very special, maybe the most special achivement, when he is able to make his own Star Wars film. This is definitely shows how enthusiastic you were about it. The costums were neat - sometimes they had some Star Trek vibe, but after the late Star Wars shows. I was happy I had some aliens . And Mr. Mikkelsen really pleases us, Star Wars fans, for showing up in a fan made production, despite being such a big star! And his acting was so on spot! I really wish to see the second part asap : D keep up the good work, and I hope you had a wonderfol time creating it!
Thank you, Larion, for your astute observations! One of my main focuses for locations was: NO FORESTS! :-D Exactly for the reason mentioned by you. And since most of the people involved actually work in the film industry, it really helped elevate the quality of the final output. With the budget just around 1% of a single episode of "The Mandalorian", I'll gladly take "Star Trek vibe"! :-D The character of Okana Vidai was specifically written for Lars Mikkelsen, so it did feel like a natural fit for him to portray him. And yes, he's beyond awesome for agreeing to work for 8 days for $0, because he believed in me and the project. A life changing moment for me and the project itself when he confirmed his participation. About it being a wonderful time... Honestly, a lot of it was really grueling. Especially post production, because there were SO many rejections. Having reached out personally to app. 5000 VFX-artists over the course of two years... looking at the number I had for the episode, you can figure out the math of the big pile of rejections, right? :-D But I was blessed with enough yeses to move forward and here we are: 4½ years after having made the "call-to-arms". Hopefully, we'll garner more views, likes and comments that will help push this work out to the world, so it'll be an easier task for me to convince VFX-artists that working on Part II won't be a waste of time. But for now, I'm just gonna focus on enjoying this small victory. To have my words reverberate in audiences around the world, one small step at a time. :-)
@@SarwarsStarwars Thanks for the detailed answer! Its is very suprising that Mr. Mikkelsen agreed to work with freely, for 8 days. I was beliving, that the shoot with him only lasted like 2-3 days, but thats incredible! About the marketing, maybe you should make a different thumbnail for the Fan film. Since at least hundred - mostly very low quality - fan film drops monthly on RU-vid, maybe you should make a thumbnail that stands out; and more click will come. There are also some reaction creators, to who you might can adress this work, and it will spread. After such a great start, I hope you can follow this fan film, and it wont take another 4 years :D PS: I would really love to see some Behind the Scenes footage released :D It would be really educational!
Well, initially he only agreed to do "a week". Which he meant as a "work week" and I understood it as a calendar week. :-D But due to some scheduling issues with the shoot, he did six days and then said that he'd be willing to come back at a later time to do the remaining scenes, so we got two more days. :-) We've changed the thumbnail to something with Lars Mikkelsen on it. :-) It was a good idea! I've contacted a handful, but most have not shown interest, unfortunately, which surprised me, since... it just really seemed to be something they'd be into. Oh well. Maybe later in the future. There are two BTS videos from earlier on the channel. :-) More will come showcasing a bit of the fight scene coming up in Part II. :-)
It's finally here! I remember watching those trailers and clips years ago and now we are getting the full experience. Well done to everyone who worked on this, be very proud of it and bring on the next part!!!
Brilliant!! I can't believe we can have this masterpiece here at last! The performance is absolutely amazing, I love the interaction between the characters. Besides, you did an incredible work with characterization, customes and setting. I can't wait for the second part!!
Thank you, Maribel! The characters will be going through some great and challenging moments in Part II that I'm excited to hear how the fans will respond to. :-)
Speaking of Lars Mikkelsen, check out Darth Angelus’s heir to the empire animated fan film series, it’s incredible, not Lars voicing Thrawn, but still :)
Indeed! I'm excited to see, if I can capture a new bunch of VFX-artists now that things look vastly different than during post-production on Part II and III.
Holy crap man you must have put in a lot of effort into making this film worth the wait for people to see congrats man you did a heck of a job like wow
Wooow, amazing. Epic starwars fan film. Intens acting in all parts. Just to mention some: Shahbaz Sarwar, Lars Mikkelsen and Dorte Rømer. Can't wait for the 2nd. When can we se the next episode?
That gravel pit helped us out SO much! :-D And I hope that the other gorgeous parts of Denmark that will appear in Part III will make you feel the same way as well. :-)
MAKE SURE YOU WATCH IT ON A BIG SCREEN PEOPLE! I waited to sit down and take the time to watch on my TV instead of my phone or computer screen. Best idea, best viewing experience. If I could watch it in a theater, that's the only way it could have been better. Great job guys, I can't wait for the next part!
Fellow Andor fan then? :-D Part II will be QUITE action heavy, but will also up the dramatic stakes set up by this part, so I hope you'll enjoy that as well. :-)
I'm glad to hear that you responded well to the writing! The first part is especially focused on creating a sense of danger more through words than physical actions and having Lars deliver that threat was a treat!
That result is breathtaking. Awesome commitment, stellar performance, a real treat to see all that hard work come together to form something special and worthwhile. Great idea of releasing it in parts.
Thank you! We were cautious to split it up into parts, especially because the first part is quite dialogue heavy, but luckily Andor proved that this is something that can be quite appeasing to Star Wars fans as well! :-)
Would you be okay with us sharing your comment in a short trailer for the episode? It would probably help our future fans to know that others have been delighted by the work! :-)
