That’s the perfect way to describe it. In the theater I actually began cheering at a lot of the cameos ESPECIALLY Christopher Reeve but soon I realized how disrespectful it was to “resurrect” him in CGI A.I.. But I like how this scene as a whole played out.
-It’s meant to be an homage, some of these actors are no longer with us. So, it’s nice to see them given “a tip of the hat” sort of speak. Would have been nice to also see Kirk Alyn, Noel Neill, Phyllis Coates, and actually see Batman (Adam West) & Robin (Burt Ward) along with Caesar Romero’s Joker!! And seeing how this is The Flash movie, they should have made room for John Wesley-Shipp cameo in some form or another.
It’s very obviously a stylistic choice to make it look like that. Not all the actors were alive so they made it like that so things would blend together
@@alexissarabia1963It's a pretty terrible choice. Looks very inhuman and lifeless, like staring at a mannequin. Even Nick Cages cameo looks a bit off. The 360 degree-pan around of the face also is not doing it any favors. This looks like CGI I would expect 20 years ago (it almost looks like what they did for Liz in the Sopranos after the actor died).. With the advancement in CGI technology and facial tracking, this scene is underwhelming. Of course, this is not entirely the VFX teams fault. They were likely on a time crunch and under enormous pressure to get the scenes prepared. I blame management.
I get why people hate this scene but at the same time the child in me kinda smile thinking that Christopher reeve superman is still kicking it somewhere in the multiverse
I took my mom to see the movie with me, I knew that Christopher Reeve was there, and I wanted that she could see him on big screen since she likes him so much, and I have to be honest, even if the scene could be better, seeing her joy like a child watching this scene was priceless to me
@@dylansharp8471 You know, as bad as this movie was, there IS something really cool in this scene's concept. I DO really like how the alternate worlds were like frames of rotating film.
As crap as I've heard the CGI was for this movie, I do enjoy watching this clip. Homage to legendary characters and beloved actors from DC's past. Even a nod to the Nicolas Cage Superman that almost was.
Im surprised Grant Gustin’s Flash didn’t appear in the scene. I’m also surprised Ezra Miller’s brief cameo in the Arrowverse was never referenced or acknowledge. I figured it could have played out like this; during Bruce Wayne’s explanation about time travel and the multiverse, Barry could have mention how he briefly once somehow came across a totally different another version of himself in a different world. Then later when all these other worlds appear; Grant Gustin’s Flash would have been the first of the cameos. Ezra would see him first and recognize him as the other version of Flash he once encountered and that would register to him that he is about to see window into all different worlds.
This movie is canon to the Snyder Cut of JL, so technically Ezra’s Flash of this timeline never met Grant’s/ArrowVerse Flash in CRISIS; that was the Ezra Flash of the mainline DCEU where Josstice League is canon instead
At the end it was a fun movie for a lot of people, but we need to express our discontent about these mediocre products, if anything, the people working on them is gonna benefit from our complaints since the people that are putting the money are gonna see that, of the VFX guys have more time to put care in these products that means more money to them, look at Marvel, their stories are kinda shit but the effects are great most of the time And if we get the stories to be as good then it's a win/win for everyone
@@AckzaTV believable? Not like PS3 graphics? I hate how pedantic some people can be with this argument with every CGI they don't like even tho it looks realistic af and i don't like using the argument itself, but this time? They're right for using it, it looks pretty bad for 2023 movie
My dad is not much of a filmmaker Like I am, but he enjoys movies that entertained him and had a good time with, so I took him to see this film on Fathers Day cause he grew up with Michael Keaton’s Batman and, the point I’m getting to, Christopher Reeves Superman, and he had a big smile on his face, especially with Christopher Reeve popping up. Didn’t care at all about the CGI, he loved it 🤟
Remember when Disney got the ok from Peter Cushing’s estate for rogue one and the media and Twitter flipped their lid about how it was disrespectful. Now nobody cares Manufactured media outrage.
Man with how animated these cameos are, they shoulda just done a DCAU cameo from Batman: The Animated Series. That would have been awesome. God, if that had happened I would have cried.
I like the fact that they make it feel natural that all these Supermans and Batmans have existed and not looked like the same person. Like it could have been literally anyone who was born to be in their place with their name, but have completely different lives and experiences.
Honestly I think of it this way. A multiverse is full of possibilities. This could include the sperm that reached the egg. Everyone was still named who they were going to be named, but somewhere along the line of ancestors different DNA patterns survived. Added onto the laws of physics can straight up be drastically different one universe to the others.
The fact of this movie is not wht we expected but to see Christopher reevs in the franchise brought a joy. He was the best superman from that era n he played as expected
Maybe it's just because I'm used to Arrowverse Flash, but the VFX didn't bother me here. Plus the Nicolas Cage Superman scene got a massive cheer from my theater.
People complaining that badly about the VFX did not watch the movie. I can understand people complaining about the VFX but if it ruins the experience for them, then I’m sorry but I just don’t get it. Does that mean they can’t watch movies pre 2012? They can’t watch Tobey’s Spider-Man, the pre Disney Star Wars movies, the old x-men movies. The Harry Potter movies. Pirates off the Caribbean curse of the black pearl. People are just hating for the sake of it, yet turn around and say Tobey is still the best Spider-Man or the Star Wars originals and prequels are great movies.
@@thefilmrookie3099 I’m guessing it’s something beyond the visuals. The Flash dropped just as actors/writers’ concerns over AI reached a fever pitch. So it’s not that far-fetched to assume they saw Reeve/Cage’s cameos as a warning of what Hollywood might do with former actors’ faces. Most of the other visuals beyond that are pretty fun, if rubbery in places.
@@thefilmrookie3099i was one of those people who didnt think the cgi was good i htought it was horrible. It wasnt until i finally watched it and this was actually really good
I’m mixed on this scene, I think it’s super cool but i don’t know how I feel about the resurrection of dead actors. Especially George reeves since he hated being associated with Superman
Uhh I could be wrong on this but I don't believe that he hated being associated with Superman it was that after the show ended he couldn't get any serious roles & everyone saw him as Superman & they weren't going to take Mr.Reeves seriously in any other serious part you know? So in a way yeah that Superman show kinda unintentionally did ruin him in a way but again I could be wrong on what I said & now come to think about it I think the guy who played Herman Munster Fred something same thing happened to him after the Munsters show was canceled Fred tried to get other roles but couldn't bc no one couldn't take him seriously that's all they seen was Herman Munster
But that’s the point. The chronobowl is supposed to not look realistic. Say what you want about the CGI in the rest of the movie. But it is pretty obvious that this is supposed to look fake.
@@thefilmrookie3099 lmao as if the director didn’t see that this was awful looking and just went with that excuse, completely ignoring that the rest of the movie looks awful as well
If you think this is confusing, the comics is crazier. DC comics actually has multiple-multiverses not just one. Basically the DC universe is a Omniverse with Multiverses that have infinite universes in each.
Same with Marvel, with the Omniverse, the Outside, Superflow, House of Idea. Too bad they fucked up the entire cosmology, and now the TOAA isn't even the topdog anymore apparently.
I feel like CW got the better end of the stick with the stuff we love and have seen. Mainly with Brandon Routh’s Superman and even Kevin Conroy as Batman (yes, he played Batman in live action)
CW was actually much better. 1. They got the real actors on set. Brandon Routh (Superman Returns), Tom Welling (Smallville), Kevin Conroy (Batman), Burt Ward (Robin from Adam West's Batman), John Wesley Shipp (Flash 1990), even Ezra Miller himself, and more. You can see how impressive the cast was. 2. ALL OF THEM played a part in the story. You had Brandon Routh fighting Tyler Hoechlin. Tyler Hoechlin visiting Tom Welling. Grant Gustin meeting Ezra Miller. etc. This movie's cameo didn't even interact with Flash, they just stared blankly into the camera.
If this was all animated, these are my picks in order 0:10 Max Fleischer Superman 0:18 Flash from The Superman/Aquaman Hour of Adventure 0:31 Superman and Supergirl from Superman: The Animated Series 0:56 Batman from Batman: The Brave and the Bold 1:06 Superman from never made Genndy Tartakovsky cartoon
@@AccipiterSmiththis movie didn’t get anything about multiverse right lol they just have to make a simple time travel movie, not about multiverse for no reason
Haven't seen the movie yet but love the cameos of George Reeves, Adam West, Christopher Reeve and Helen Slater. George Reeves was my introduction to live action Superman as a child and Chris Reeve was the Superman of my young adulthood while Adam West was my introduction to any version of Batman. Great to see them all acknowledged even if not much was done with them. Sad that the movie seems to have flopped.
@@andrewbyrne2173 I'm 65. George Reeves was before my time but still the first live action Superman I ever saw while Adam West was part of my childhood and Christopher Reeve part of my young adulthood (as was Helen Slater but we need not speak of that). LOL.
and that is the entire point of the cameos to begin with, to lure you in when. they served NO PURPOSE at all besides the fact they did for the fans, not to drive the story. Needless fan service. The movie flopped because of poor directing, poor script, and everything else
Burt Ward, as Robin, was also shown. You could see him twice when Adam West's Batman is shown. Above Batman, you could see a still shot of Batman and Robin climbing up the side of a building. Above that still you could see Robin standing there looking out. You also hear a mashup of Eartha Kitt's Catwoman, Frank Gorshin's Riddler, Burgess Meredith's Punguin and Cesar Romero's Joker.
To see my superman there, it is a moment that i will never forget. So grateful that i could see him one last time. So glad that the Reeve estate granted this cameo. Fly high, Chris. i really miss you.
Were the alternate versions of the heroes seeing their worlds colliding? What was up with the Flash and his two alternate versions of himself in the Chronoball?
@@1zxtvthe movie was actually good. Not groundbreaking or anything, but good. What affected the movie was the mediocre CGI at times and Ezra Miller's reputation
Even though The Flash movie has bad CGI (I'm worth a cucumber) I loved it a lot and it's undervalued ❤ . This scene about the Multiverse, different lands and paying homage to the entire legacy that DC has made several years ago is magnificent : - From hearing it's a bird, it's a plane, it's Superman (from the George Reeves version) - a phrase from Adam West's Batman and in the background with the laughter of Cesar Romero's Joker . - Jay Garrick (my favorite character) - Nicolás Cage was able to play Superman and fighting against a giant spider was magnificent . - and obviously the stellar star the return of the legend Christopher Reeve's Superman accompanied by her cousin Supergirl who are finally together and it was beautiful 😭💙 . Anyway this scene is my favorite 😍
I'm pissed we didn't get a BTAS globe. Do you know how cool it'd be to just hear "I am Vengeance-" "it hasn't even begun Batman!" "-I am the Night-" [Hamill Joker Laugh] "-I AM BATMAN!!!"

The idea of not putting Grant Gustin - or hell, even John Wesley Shipp - in this moment is literally inexcusable. There is no excuse the filmmakers could come up with that would ever make sense. I mean, Ted Sears wasn't even the REAL Jay Garrick. It's just so weird. And I don't care how fake it looks, seeing Christopher Reeve and Helen Slater together with the Williams theme - yup, they pulled on the ol' nostalgia strings, and nope, I couldn't give two shites. I've never understood why a little fan service is a bad thing anyway. Feels like snobby film fans farting that crap.
@@leonavuto make things worse, it wasn’t even Teddy Sears’s likeness in this scene. They used the editor of the film, Jason Ballentine, to make a CG face, so you ended up with a Jay Garrick that: 1. No one knew at first if it was Teddy Sears or not because it didn’t make any sense. 2. If they DID recognize that as Teddy Sears then they would know it’s NOT Jay Garrick. What’s even more mind blowing is that TITANS have a cameo to Grant’s Flash about a couple months before this movie came out. They had no excuse. There’s NINE SEASONS of footage they could’ve pulled from, and they could’ve easily superimposed both Grant’s Flash and John (as either Jay or Barry) running together in this scene instead.
That shot of Nic Cage in the shadows with his eye lazers glowing would have made an INCREDIBLE poster for Tim Burton's Superman Lives. 25 years on & I'm still pissed off that movie was never made
I definitely would've loved the Worlds Collide scene if the CGI was better and had living actors cameos like Brandon Routh Superman or CW Flash. I do love the music and The Superman Lives reference though.
Imagine a Lynda Carter(Wonder Woman) cameo, DCAU Tv Series cameos, Grant Gustin(Flash) cameo, Christian Bale(Batman) cameo, etc. I do agree, the soundtrack is amazing.

The original script for Superman Lives (the movie that had Nicolas Cage as Superman) had Superman fighting a giant spider at the end. The producer of the film, Jon Peters, wanted it in the film for whatever reason, so despite going through several drafts, every single version of the script has the giant spider in it. Also, here's a fun fact about the spider: Jon Peters later used the same ending for the 1999 film Wild Wild West, where the villian of the film has a (you guessed it!) giant mechanical spider, and the movie ends with the protagonists destroying it.
I saw a lot of people losing their minds over Nick Cage's Superman, but seeing Adam West returning somehow as the Caped crusader is heartwarming to me.

The most soulless scene in existence. It’s equivalent to a picture show. There’s nothing meaningful about these cameos, they’re just soulless husks that expects you to clap at them. Doesn’t help that they decided to puppet a few corpses around for this scene.

No vi la peli, dejé a mi mamá viéndola en la tele, pero me enterneció la emoción de ella al ver al Superman de Christopher Reeve, si ha sido fanática de toda la vida. Es lo único que rescato de estos cameos. Gracias The Flash.
Personally, I'd ave had the whole multiverse cameos scene go down like this... George Reeves (Superman) Jay Garrick "Flash" Christopher Reeve (Superman) Helen Slater (Supergirl) Adam West (Batman) Lynda Carter (Wonder Woman) Dean Cain (Superman)
If the movie had been based more on Flashpoint then the Batman at the end instead of George Clooney would have been Robert Pattinson but Yes if only we would have had at least one Christian Bale cameo and also a cameo from the grant Austin flash

I know in alot of ways this is offensive and obscene to use them but.. They're respecting them. It's homage to how they crafted and shaped the universe with who THEY are. Christopher, Nick, Adam, it was just nice to see them acknowledged and respected.
It was bittersweet seeing them on screen as they shaped and put the characters to life to many viewers and fans throughout time. I see and acknowledge its extremely disrespectful though.

When they showed Christopher Reeve standing, that made the three sittings it took to get me that far worth it! So much nostalgia at once. And then they threw in Nicholas Cage 🤷♀️
0:21 I thought I believe it was a Arrowverse cameo with this speedster that I believe was Hunter Zolomon a.k.a. Zoom. But I think I believe it was actually an another alternate universe version of Jay Garrick a.k.a. The Flash.
That was a common theory, but it’s actually incorrect. The actor believed to be in that shot was Teddy Sears, who did play Zoom pretending to be Jay Garrick. However, the person in this shot is Jason Ballentine, the editor of the Flash movie, who’s never been Jay Garrick before, and will never be again.
Superman (1978), Superman II, Superman III, Superman IV: The Quest For Peace and Supergirl (1984) are canon on Earth-78 only the events of Superman Returns never happen on Earth-78.
I was glad to see them, even with bad CGI. But did Superman (Christopher Reeve) and Supergirl (Helen Slater) actually just stand there and watch their universe collide with that of Nicolas Cage’s Superman? Wouldn’t they have done everything they could to prevent that happening? In the original Crisis on Infinite Earths comics, Supergirl even died trying to save Superman and her universe from the Anti-Monitor.

It's funny how they tried to mimic the same nostalgia feel Marvel did successfully with projects like No Way Home (where those character were actually played by the same actors), but having these character being the most plastic looking CGI completely ruined the feeling and instead it made it into the cheapest nostalgia bait and the ugliest looking scene in current cinematography.
