Finn doesn’t need nerfs, he needs to be reworked, outside if his zero to death he feels very one dimensional and predictable, he is too reliant on jab and can’t kill outside of dash attack and up special until you rack your opponent to 150+ damage

Just saying, massive rant incoming. Imo iron giant is fine as is, aside from 2 things: -rage mode dlight loop (needs to be removed) -impossible to win matchups (for example, good luck winning against superman as iron giant. he completely shuts down giant to the point he cant do anything.) And why would i say so? because the whole character is focused on cheese. Its like a coinflip. Either you demolish your opponent, or they demolish you. Either you happen to get a good opportunity to kill early, or you dont get to play the game by being juggled into oblivion. Either its somewhat equal and you can still approach, or the enemy happens to play a character that has a tool that completely shuts down giant with no way of fighting back. Giant has massive strengths aswell as massive weaknesses. He will struggle against many of the cast (as long as the enemy is competent) because of his holes. -If your character juggles well, good, giant cant fight back against that well. -If your character has a long reaching attack, good, giant cant contest well with that. -If your character has very short cooldowns on attacks (mid air usually, some also grounded), good, you will get insane (infinite even) combos on him leading him from 0% to 100% -If your character has projectiles, good, giant sucks against them unless he gets to start his up special (which leaves his lower body vulnerable to plenty of things) -If your character has armor, good, giant has only 1 armor breaking tool (grab is way too slow to be effective a lot of the time, and nlight isnt that great for armorbreaking as it is for damage or kills) -If your character is very evasive or slim, good, you will literally sneak under some of his attacks (his three best tools, side normal, nair, up special) To specify who fits where: The first criteria is characters like arya, joker, harley, bugz, batman, samjack (somewhat), jason, wonderwoman, steven, finn The second criteria, samjack, jake, tnj (jerry projectile, fishing hook if used right), gizmo, marvin The third criteria, Superman, Stripe (inescapable blender of combos, you have to eat a lot of attacks before you can finally set yourself free, and youll use a lot of options to get out, and nothing holds them back from putting you back into that blender) The fourth criteria, tnj, marvin, black adam (depends, usually in 2s), gizmo, lebron The fifth criteria, wonderwoman, superman, black adam a little, jake (swallows teammate and gives him and himself armor) The sixth criteria, Arya, harley, gizmo, bugz Anything else i didnt mention, is more on the fair side even if giant might struggle against a certain matchup (like taz, very small and the taznado basically disables a chunk of the map temporarily, or garnet having some nasty things she can do to giant even if she might not be that great overall, she is a little underpreciated, though she is boring as hell to play.) But on the side of his strengths, he has a crazy combo that starts off of slight or nair, and can drag enemies over to the blastzone if done right with the help of up special if there need be. His neutral special is an insane tool, but it was nerfed to the point it has nearly double the original cooldown time (which is good. thats how it should be). His hurtbox is massive which is a big downside, but it has the upside of making parries more likely to land than on other characters. His rage mode is insane, but it has a major flaw of, if you get juggled, you really dont have many good tools left. Your side and up specials are swapped out and will not help you when you are being juggled, all you have is nair and sair at most, but his rage doesnt fill up much in 1's compared to 2's. I could keep going on and on but this here, is mainly what matters most about giant i guess. He should remain strong, simply because its so easy to lose your advantage and then struggle to get out of that disadvantage state vs any other character (other than jason) If giant gets nerfed further (other than his rage mode dlight loop needing removal) i dont think anyone will ever bother actually playing giant other than for pure fun or masochism. He already went down to the lowest W/L ratio since the most recent nerfs he got, and i think that says something if before giant was supposedly 'cruising' through opponents (which was very much true, before that is.)

He was strong but without his mudwall he’s pretty useless. Bad melee and his wall is one of the easiest dodgeable moves in the game now along with his grenade being one of the most easily dodgeable moves in the game

Fern Enthusiast here, I absolutely agree Finn needs nerfs. Dude needs more overall endlag on his problematic moves (cough cough jab up tilt cough cough), and make it so he can only get those crazy combos off of a hard dodge read (maybe even two strong dodge reads)
Personally i think all moves should have a punishment window. Nothing should be completely safe to use. Why because people will spam it. Next oppressive combos are the next biggest thing that throws me off with this game. Last kill confirms come easier to some characters than others. As for the characters for the most part i agree, however there are some characters i would place differently to save time ill just stick with my top 3. I think black Adam is in remove loops not need nerfs, Marvin should be in a list that says spam moves. Lastly shaggy should be in need nerfs cause he has some of the easiest kill confirms in the game and should not be able to charge unless his feet are touching the ground.
Morty is insanely strong with the speed of his attack recoveries and ability to play at a distance if you know how to play him, but I will give him that his damage is insanely lacking, I have played Morty’s multiple times where they do a big string of attacks and I get them over my % with just a few hits of a strong character. But game does have some of the worst balancing I have seen in a platform fighting game , I have seen multiple people (even “multiversus partners”) who just SD when seeing Arya at all. This is when you know you have a insane balancing issue.

The taz bit was hilarious, I main taz and have a really hard time against ranged characters, or any character that has any sort of ranged, I come in with tornado, they hit me with ranged and it takes me out, I come in with smoke, they run and jump away, jump over it, or shoot me and it knocks me out, I go to activate smoke and 0.3 seconds into activation they hit me, and I don't get to use it and now I'm on a timer, they nerfed the sandwich movie so I can't hold it down forever, he does crap damage, I mean I don't know wtf this guy has seen to suggest taz needs nerfs lmao
This whole community is just “please don’t nerf my main and nerf everyone else!” No one wants the game to feel honestly balance they just want their favorite character to be the only broken one. This game is like the definition of toxicity on both the players and Dev’s end (and this is coming from a player since beta)

Meanwhile others like Velma will probably just stay useless for a long time at best. But at the same time they just don’t touch Black Adam, Bugs, release characters like Jack with zero cooldowns, and think characters like WW and IG are in a good state with giving WW infinite whip and IG still being able to confirm a kill off a jab combo on medium to light characters that are at 70% and cancel combos being done on him and loop his jab. I don’t know why they just go after one character ruthlessly until they feel incredibly worse while leaving other characters S tier or really high A tier that they have no problem leaving that good while nerfing others to maybe C range because they “need to be more like the rest of the cast”. It’s a bad way to roll out patches, and is probably why they see so many people on twitter saying they feel the game is unbalanced. They actively feel their character get worse and worse until a Arya just easily runs circles around them punishing pretty much anything they do and T-bags them, and this was because their character had to be “like the rest of the cast”. The irony in what the Devs write in the patch notes and what the game actually feels like is palpable.
i think looking at this game through a 1v1 lens drastically changes this list. in a 2v2 setting only characters i would put in needs nerfs in gizmo, IG, and maybe taz and steven (steven main). I think people forget the game was built for 2v2 play.

It’s so easily spamable along with paddle that it takes no skill to use him takes 30 minutes to pick him up and make it to gold in 1s
The paddle move shouldn’t reflect projectiles as Tom’s imo it makes the character way too strong to go against with any ranged character especially morty

I’m sorry you had a bad experience with Steven players but he does not desperately need nerfs maybe a small nerf to his sair but that’s it. Honestly if you’re having trouble dealing with Stevens running away from you it’s a skill issue and you need to get better. Ig is fine in his current state right now no more nerfs are needed his rage mode could use a couple of nerfs but base ig is fine. Also you shouldn’t really use the example of a new player going against an experienced player as no duh they’re going to get completely destroyed. This shouldn’t even happen as with matchmaking as bad as it is I’ve never come across a complete noob.

Morty should be in fine tier he isn’t too broken like he used to be. The only thing that needs nerfing is his up sir i swear it kills at 70. And maybe nerf snake gun knock back a tiny bit(when snakes hit)
Wait, Batman’s down special is OP? I honestly never had a problem going up against a Batman who’d use that move. It’s strong, but has a small hitbox to balance that is easy to dodge from my experience playing against and with the Man of Bats. I’ll have to test that move out more

I wouldn’t say Morty needs buffs, he needs changes. Make his grenade blast radius slightly bigger but make the delay longer so he’s not just spamming grenades and mud wall. If he needs another approach tool than make the gun shoot more than one bullet and increase his stun by like 2 frames. Steven doesn’t need nerfs he needs changes (I was a Steven main in the beta after his initial nerfs). His Sair is lingers too long and its hitbox is disjointed and about an inch away from the actual attack. His nair is fine if you can dodge it and react to what he does after.
Black Atom (current main) is definitely controversial considering he’s already gotten nerfed and he’s the literal Ganondorf of this game with his warlock punch. That being said, his nair and sair hitbox’s are wild but his normal combos are dogshit without them as follow ups. Fix the hitboxes and Black Atom is as balanced to his “Godlike” character you can get in this game.
I agree with a lot of what your saying as someone who plays Steven I agree that sair needs to be adjusted because you can literally just flick the stick it just does a lot for you and I don't like to play that way with the character but I think pfg wants Steven's to do before the S1 mid season patch the character used to be all about the shield play, setting them up and bouncing them off the shield but they decreased the shield hp so it breaks easily and most of the cast can just break it with attacks also watermelon is really fragile it's not hard to launch it off the stage or push it off the stage before it spawns. EDIT I was a Steven main in the beta as well over 1000 wins

The biggest issue I have is that small blast zone in stages like Townsville. They need that stage removed in ranked. I play 2v2 though. Not sure if you guys feel the same in 1v1 since it's less chaotic

One thing about Jack: He is way too damn big. Look at the size difference between him and most of the cast, and especially Agent Smith. Huge hitboxes with the sword.

The thing about supermans loop is if u di out of it they have to use dodge meter but if you di in and they use a dodge you can get out of it so most pros in high level of play purposefully di out on start force superman to use a dodge and then di in at the second time so they get out early which does it make the loop fine idk u decide
Yeah, I don’t see why Black Adam would need nerfs. You could make the argument that his neutral air has a wide hit box but it also has a lot of start up and end lag. Black Adam in general has a lot of start up and end lag/whiff, he’s so easy to punish
Easy nerf/buff for Rick's loop. Increase the knockback on fair just enough so that you can only hit it once during a jab string into another jab string.
Iron giant doesn’t need nerfs. His issue is he’s too big?!? That’s his handicap!!! He’s big in a game where you can’t block!!! Playing against Morty with IG is so annoying.

Morty do needs buffs he is lacking in attacks that kill and has very low knock back , you need to literally try hard to get decent damage off with him and he is one of the hardest characters to play in the game his mudwall and grenade is easy to dodge so you literally need to catch your opponent off guard or stunned to even hit them with grenades his mudwall is delayed and slower so you can dodge it easily
