I think 🤔 it’s not wrong to disclose the dishes at the start. The Food Ranger i.e. Trevor James does it as well & so does Mark Weins. Sir please do not listen to everything a few people say because this is your channel.

Hello Mr. Bali, Bhajniche Thalipeet is often a easy cook lunch box recipe. We dry roast the flours of gehu, jowar, besan, suji/rava, ragi, and rice. We add dry roasted jeera and dhana powder, chopped onion, coriander, methi, palak and/or lauki/doodhi. The dough is made by adding oil and water. We tap and increase the size of thalipeet over a thali/plate and peet here means to tap. Then these are transferred to a skillet with some oil for shallow frying. Holes are made in the thalipeet before transferring it to skillet, to cook it evenly. Along with jeera and dhana powder other generic spoces are added too.

You should try sandwiches on small stalls in Mumbai. Thalipith is not deep fried item it should be roasted and should be served with curd. That sandwiches are far better than this. Try Masala veg cheese grill sandwich. Go to bandra and try hershi's burgers Prakash hotel at Dadar for sabudana wada Aaram hotel at CST for wada pav Kirti College wada pav at Dadar for chura wada pav Ramashray at matunga for best south indian

Hello Sir. This is in response to your question on my previous comment. :) First of all, thank you for your kind words. Being born in a Sindhi family, married into a Marathi one, and having lived in the neighborhoods with people from various communities gave me a good exposure to different kinds of foods. I have stayed in Mumbai for a year and that helped me a lot when it comes to food. Coming to your question about Thatte Idli now. Thatte idli is a dish that belongs to the state of Karnataka. It's made with the fermented batter of urad dal, sabudana, parboiled rice (idli rice) and poha. Thatte idli is not steamed in the regular idli mould. It is steamed in a deeper, flatter, larger mould that looks like a plate, which is why it is also called as plate idli. It is much larger in size than the regular idli. It is served with sambar and chutney. Also, Thatte is a Brahmin surname, so I am guessing Thatte Idli is the specialty of the Brahmin community of Karnataka. I hope you found this info useful. :)
@visa2explore
@visa2explore 6 лет назад
wow! nicely explained by you. just for my extended knowledge: 1. what exactly does it mean when someone says parboiled rice. 2. Idli rice- what are the rice qualities used for making idli batter, i am sure there would be more than one. thanks again for nice explanation on Thatte idli
@ManjuModiyani
@ManjuModiyani 6 лет назад
@visa2explore You are most welcome. Parboiled (rice also known as idli rice or ukda chawal) is a variety of rice that you get in kirana shop. When the rice grains are still inside the husk, it is steamed until the rice is partially cooked. Then they dry the rice. Then it becomes easier to remove the husk. The process changes the color, texture, and aroma of the rice. If you make simple chawal that we eat with dal using parboiled rice, it will take longer to cook. Also, one needs to try this rice several times to develop a taste for it. However, when you make idli dosa using parboiled rice, developing the taste is not needed because you won't realize it's made with parboiled rice. The dosas turn out nice golden, crispy and delicious. The idli turns out fluffy, tasty and remain soft even after they cool down. You can see in my idli recipe that parboiled rice is slightly translucent. It is harder than regular rice. www.flavouroma.com/blog/idli-recipe-idli-batter-recipe/ Other thing that people use to make idli is Idli Rava. My mom uses idli rava for making idli. She adds poha and urad dal too. Poha, again is flattened rice. Some people make idli just with poha. But it's not as delicious as the rice idli. You can check out idli rava here, how it looks. www.cookingandme.com/2013/01/04/idli-recipe-using-idli-rava-soft-idli/. This is not my blog though. The difference between idli rava and regular rava. Regular rava is extracted from wheat. Idli rava is extracted from rice. You can say idli rava is cream of rice. I hope you found this info useful. Do let me know if you want to know more about any food. I will try my best to answer them accurately. :)

Thalipeeth is not deep fried what they did. Generally it is cooked like a paratha typically with bit of extra oil. It is also more prominent among Brahmins of Maharashtra. Found more easily in restaurants in places like Mumbai, Pune etc.

@sachingawankar6033 4 года назад
You can get thalipeeth at tambe, panshikar and praksh at Dadar. It is available as regular with different flours mixed together, with onion and topped with white butter only and separately doneby using four used during fast only.

Harish sir actually Thalipith is not supposed to fry. Little oil has to apply on Tawa and that flour mixture is to be baked on Tawa only. Ideally Thalipith shouldn't fried and shouldn't be too crispy. You should feel some flour taste while eating.

To have authentic pav bhaji you need to add authentic pav bhaji masala to the bhaji, otherwise you won't get the real pav bhaji taste

Traditionally, thalipeeth is shallow fried and not deep fried. Some Gujarati people have it with chhunda.

How does cucumber taste after it's been in a grill? Alu, tamatar, cheese are ok ... but won't the cucumber become a bit watery?

My point of view is you shld only cover bestest place where you going...... In Mumbai journey you might cover in 2-3 episode because Mumbai is not famous for the food only few dishes you remember you can also cover SRK mannat house and Antila, Jalsa etc that type of mixture in your video make more interesting. Let's plan to meet up at CP
