On July 25, 2024, Mumbai faced severe rainfall that caused substantial disruptions and hazards throughout the city. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert for Mumbai and neighbouring regions, predicting extremely heavy rainfall. The non-stop rain led to widespread waterlogging in areas such as Kurla, Andheri, BKC, and Chembur. The heavy rain significantly impacted transportation in Mumbai. Local train services are operating at reduced speeds due to poor visibility, and several trains were suspended. Flight operations at Mumbai airport are also heavily affected, with numerous flights delayed, diverted, or canceled. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has recorded 46 incidents of fallen trees and branches, six short circuits, and eight cases of property damage.
