The rains of July 26, 2005, in Mumbai have become a benchmark of rain in urban areas. The city recorded a rainfall of 944 mm in 24 hours. The city came to a standstill due to rains and the lifeline of Mumbai local trains was stranded. Rains caused waterlogging in the low-lying area.
