It’s art. Not every art peice is supposed to make sense. It’s the imagination that makes it art. The unique form of acting. That’s what makes this art.
I remember seeing them at The Majestic Theater in San Antonio when I was a kid. It gave me an appreciation for the performing arts and I really enjoyed it.
TRUE STORY: They actually released a "soundtrack" album of one of their live performances. Let *THAT* sink in! www.discogs.com/release/11269421-Andres-Bosshard-Floriana-Frassetto-Bernie-Schurch-Mummenschanz
I am probably of the youngest folks who know who they are; I saw them as a young kid on my dvds of The Muppet Show. The memory was awoken when I was watching a video about unintentionally disturbing children show characters. I thought it cool so I showed it to my mom, who thought it was creepy. I love their performances and wish I could see them live
I've read from Machiavelli to Stephen King. I've seen from Mimes to Tyler Perry preform. I've watched movies from Citizen Kane to John Carpenter's: Halloween. TV show's from The Three Stooges to Stranger Things. From America Idol to The Masked Singer. When it comes to pop culture I'd like to think I've seen it all. A true nerd. I'VE NEVER SEEN ANYTHING LIKE THIS! AND ITS AWESOME!
Yes...but some of these character pieces were performed on "Sesame Street" back in the '70s, and turned up here and there into the early '80s. No music, no narration, virtually no sound...which made it all a bit unsettling. At the time, I had no idea who they were, so I thought they were new Muppet characters, or I thought that some of the players on the show (Bob, Maria, Luis or Gordon) were doing them.
art should comfort the disturbed and disturb the comfortable. thats why for some people its creepy or off putting but for others its clever or masterful. its art!
Something astounding I want to point out is how the audience is able to appreciate this in it's entirety laughing and applauding at every performance. Of this was done today people would be too caught up in talking about how creepy this is and making pseudo critical analysis of the deeper meaning.
Sometimes, it's their "calling card" photo, and--this is not a joke--was on the cover of their sole, self-titled album. www.discogs.com/release/11269421-Andres-Bossard-Floriana-Frassetto-Bernie-Schurch-Mummenschanz
