This is my video tour of the muncie mall. It was a plesent trip to this mall. In this vide i visit a mexican restraunt and give it a review along with a very tasty cookie shop.
When my family came to the states, my mom was a Phd candidate at Ball State, we lived in Muncie for about two years. I can still remember visiting the mall for the very first time and brought myself a pair of duck boots (it was trendy style in the early 90’s) Thanks for posting this video for such nostalgia feeling. I was enrolled at Muncie Central High as a sophomore. Back then I spoke little English and pretty much slept through all my classes. I even meet my first American girlfriend at school, she was such cutie from a small town in western Ohio.
Old navy opened in 2000 and closed in 2010, and it became a shoe store whose sign you can see at 4:20. Books a million operates in the old osco drug. The pizza restaurant is reopening as a smoothie place. Britts became ayres. Grants became jcpenneey.
Sears used to be down by Game Stop. There used to be a bigger arcade in there also. Sultans Castle, if I remember correctly. MCL is delicious!!! The pizza place was the best place to get a big huge slice of pizza! We used to go shop for hours and then before we left, we would stop there to get discounted slices before they closed. Lol! Icing used to be Claire's when I was in middle and high school. Thats where I had my ears pierced for the first time. I went back a couple years later to get my cartridge pierced also. Santa always set up right there in front of elder-beerman. Andrew's and Zales is where all of my jewelry is from. I really miss Andrew's! Lane Bryant was in Macy's hallway with finish line, Spencer's, Victorias secret, hat world, and a few more I can't think of... The mall is definitely not what it used to be! Its so sad now! I've lived in the Muncie area all of my 40 years. I've never seen it so bare! I can't even tell you when I was there last! Maybe about 10 years ago when I took my brother to get new shoes from foot locker or finish line. Or maybe when I went to Spencer's to get my husband a birthday gift. Either way, its been a long time! #m3glamsquad #SpiritSeekerSquad 👑🏚👻⭐
In the 80s , the arcade was next to the MCL cafeteria. It had pinball and skeeball , and slowly the video games started taking up more space. It moved next to the theatre entrance and operated until they closed off that area completely. Also in the late 80s , for a couple years , there was a popular pizza/video game place called Tex Critters that occupied the current Gamestop and dress shop spaces. I do miss the Inside Scoop candy store and their selection of Jelly Belly jelly beans. And the panzerottis at pizza place.
Hope I did this mall justice as I believe it’s your hometown mall. Would have been cool to have u in my video talking about your memories. Maybe I should do a night tour and include u if u are up to it
Wow thanks for that info. Would you be willing to contribute any old photos from the mall I’d love to revisit the place and dive more into its history and preserve it. I’d even be willing to meet too. I’d love to make a follow up video on the mall and of course anything you contribute give you credit for.
There is currently an arcade between Buckle and icing but I wouldn’t really call it much of an arcade more like a broom closet with some crane machines LOL
Odd how people call something with utilities and some tenants abandoned. Partially open to the public. All is secured and somewhat maintained. Just because some parts are not currently rented it's not abandoned. That said there is not much left inside. Plenty of space for rent. Muncie is just not downsizing to it's new normal. Muncie is a has been town.
@@TiltedTripodMedia Remember IIRC Donati getting tax dollars for the back of the mall area where Kohl's, Target, Men's Warehouse etc were or are now . Overbuilt on the taxpayers dime. And screwed existing business that had excess competition and forced to pay taxes to support the waste. These big idea politicians need their heads on a pike
Ahh man wish I had know that I would have asked for an interview. Always good to hear from shop employees what they think about the mall and working in it
