On May 22, 2022, at approximately 7:40 PM, the Mundelein Police Department, Mundelein Fire Department, and automatic aid fire departments responded to a report of a structure fire at Seymour Ave & Crystal St in Mundelein, IL. Emergency crews arrived and found heavy flames and smoke showing from a pawn shop at 107 N Seymour Ave. Mundelein Fire Department Lieutenant Kurt Rodewald said the first arriving crew pulled a hose line and started an aggressive fire attack. Other firefighters connected a supply line to a nearby fire hydrant for a positive water supply. Command requested MABAS (Mutual Aid Box Alarm System) Box Alarm #43-2C to the box alarm level.
One firefighter was transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, IL with minor injuries, and they were later released, Rodewald said. The fire was declared under control at around 8 PM.
