Mundon Dead Oak Trees 

The area of Mundon is mentioned in the Doomsday book written in 1086 then known as Munduna. The petrified forest of dead oak tree's near St Mary's church are said to have died due to flooding of salt water from near by river creeks. Wood from the oak tree's were used to build battleships when Samuel Pepys was first Lord of the Admiralty.
