In this age of digital micro-perfection, it´s really inspiring to see the way you embrace chance as you mix this great piece of music live and on the fly. Also, the fact that this was take 25 is a testament to the focus and dedication that goes into becoming a true master. Much respect from Mexico.

Awesome video! Long live dub music! I saw your show last year in Denver at the Black Box and it was amazing! I'm watching this video and wondering, how do you get the multi channel audio outputs from tape (your computer) back into the mixer? Do you have x2 8 output interfaces connected via ADAT?

@@danielwilson6529 That it's 'real-time' remixing using effects loops... that it's using the mixer itself as an instrument to modify the song's arrangement as a performance. That no two 'dubs' will ever be precisely the same or identical... the music is in the moment.

This is awesome! Ever hear of Jim the Boss? Dub guy in US. He did this Dub Blueprints on his channel last year. Shows the band playing, then how it's dubbed and some history about the music. Had a king tubby filter too

You should consider digging into the work of Deepchord. He's the starting point if you wanna get into Dubtechno. Try starting with this tune: DeepChord - Untitled (DC-11 A side) and if you enjoy it try checking out the Dub Monitor youtube channel. He's the best educational resource on youtube for this sort of stuff.

Same here, I do ambient techno and have always played the mixer sends and improvised my own stems. The only difference is I don't have rasta vocals or guitars.

What's not to understand? It's pretty straightforward. I could understand if you don't understand some of the terminology though. This is basically a tutorial for people who understand the basics of recording and how to use effects and mix on a desk.

Great stuff , i Always loved your music especially with soom t !! I have a very stupid question : how did every track is stored in the channel ? It works from the Mac or the mixer have the track actually recorded ? Another way to put it is : it Could work stand alone with stored track/sound/songs or you Always need a pc for the sounds bank ? Super interesting! I'd love to know more about your routing into and out of the desk. Are your stems coming from a DAW i take it? What tracks are the stems split into (i.e. all the drums as separate channels? snare, kick etc?). Most important are you just recording a stereo out from the desk or have you got a way to capture multi channels post fader .... ?
