The new face of the cosmetic giant L'Oreal - a transgender model - has been sacked after making comments on social media about race. Munroe Bergdorf had been set to star in a new campaign before her post was reported on.
The problem is that people can’t believe that they are held accountable for their actions and words. When you make a blanket statement like all white people are racist and violent, it automatically puts you at a disadvantage, most people would immediately discredit anything you say after that because of how blunt and arrogant your statement was. No matter what race,gender, or background you are people are capable of hate on an atrocious level, but that doesn’t mean that everyone in their race, gender, or background shares their opinion.

Lets face facts , whenever there is a case of racism in the Metropolitan police force its always from white cops which is a fact of truth. I believe all WHITE cops are racist.

The best part of this is, she expects everyone to go along with the idea that racism doesn't have to be overt acts of blatant racial bias, but can be embedded in innocuous statements from white people about other races (in the form of microaggressions, coded language etc), yet she expects to be able to make blatant statements of painting an entire race a certain way but doesn't call that racism. So effectively she is wanting to say and do what she pleases and hopes that everyone will make sure that white people can't say and do even the mildest of stuff. It's pure hypocrisy. I accept that there are systemic pressures that can affect certain members of groups more negatively than others, and that it's not all just down to "it's your own damn mess, you clean it up". But the opposite is far more absurd than those arguing personal responsibility and trying to see and meet everyone in the same, polite, and human, and respectable way, aka not worrying about color or judging based on color. She is promoting judging based on color but only one way.
I think this person has gone way too far, and from a mixed raced family myself this person is just after attention and I bet they never went through a day of child care, or ‘ less privilege’ in their life
I'm white I'm a single parent of 4 children and I've worked hard all of my life to provide for my children. I am kind to both races in my eyes it's not about your colour it's how you treat someone.i am njot white privileged because I'm not good looking because I'm average looking I don't get opportunities the way a good looking person would. As I said I gave to work my butt off for everything I own. Just my opinion
She said she doesn't know what L'OReal stands for or what thier version of diversity is yet she was fine with being hired by them and getting paid. but now that she's fired she says I don't know what they are thinking.
She should also add “in the USA/UK” because this universalism of hers pays no attention to other realities and shows her America/eurocentrism, which is actually no different from systemic racism

Maybe try and listen to what she says and her experience. She’s not saying that all white people are racist. But it’s the truth that we live in a society that is racist. Not all white people are racist but we should all be doing something to stop it. Racism isn’t as simple as calling someone names.

@@leonmc9540 I'm a coloured guy from Cape Town South Africa, a place that equals America's past with regards to racism, we living in 2022 white people are some of the nicest people ever, when I go to pubs the guys closet to my colour only care about upstaging one another, the white people welcome anyone who doesn't judge them because of their ancestors mistakes, when you judge someone before getting to know them that seems a bit harsh, so how is me insulting 1 transexual person (since that's important) any different from this person insulting an entire race and gender, if this person made a case about the person or specific people who has hurt them it would be much more understandable, but you can't generalize a race or gender, because we'll never know, what race might have actually been more supportive and which race actually didn't want to seem them succeed, cause I think we both can agree that most people aren't who they seem, so how can you blame a race, you make your decision based on the integrity of the person who hurt you, not the entire group, that's not fair, my opinion or feelings toward this video might have been different if it was specified as to who they were referring too, call them out. I completely understand what she is saying...my boss is a white surpremist as she has admitted it to my face...I on the other hand are Polynesian but that doesn't mean my boss is racist...actually we get on really well I would even say we are friends BUT when I shine a little more than the rest of my co workers I will get pulled down a peg or two but the other way around they are put on a pedestal for exactly the same thing...I'm the only one of colour in my work place out of 10 staff...it's not her fault (my boss)...it's the underline white privilege inbreeded in her...I should also point out im only half Polynesian as my father is Scottish/Danish whom I love very much and both parents have given me that even balance...my father believes in how I think and fully supports me...he just says there's a way to go about it unfortunately the more direct one is the more they will be cut down people can't handle the raw truth very sad we have to walk on eggshells just to make a point...

Most history books were written by white men in order to keep power and control for generations, but now those same books, have shown the true nature of the men, who wrote them. So now its a problem

I loved your balanced and non biased point of view. Its completely true that this woman had or even has the potentional to be a fantastic activist when you consider the rest of her politics and social views and just how well spoken she can be. But in this particular situations, she's kinda doubling down and lacked the self awareness and responsibility of her action. I hope public perception can bounce back and forgive her, but that's only going to happen if she stops doubling down on that single extreme comment she made and view she can't seem to shake, because everything else she is saying is absolutely on point and hard to argue with.
