This video shows the process of replacing the rear bracket link assembly for the drivers side, powered seat on a 2006 Nissan Murano.
I made the video on the spot, so it's production quality is lacking.
The size of the bolts that are hard to get at are 12mm.

They don’t make front brackets , you need to replace both rails!

Les Hopkins that sucks. Good to know. I'll pin this to the top so others know to check the front bracket before they start.

So, the only option is welding the front bracket? My front bracket is the problem at 245k miles.

Cannot thank you enough, everything went great. Took me longer than expected but I am not a mechanical person. Despite that I was able to do it all by myself and it is now fixed. The dealer quoted me $800-$1500. The part cost $80 w/ shipping, need MM wrench set $20. So fixed it all for $100 thank you SO MUCH! oh yeah be real careful, like he said there are sharp parts. :)

I Just purchased a used 2006 Murano with only 82,000kms on it. A few things needed to be fixed but the most annoying was the seat shifting. I purchased the after market reinforced bracket off of Amazon and followed your video step by step. Worked like a charm. You saved me so much time and aggravation. Can't tell you how much I appreciate it.

Thanks for making the video. I just got a replacement bracket and this is making my life a lot easier. Mission accomplished. I few small cuts and scrapes on my hands, but the whole job took about 90 mins, including stopping to watch this video after I removed the seat.

The bracket in my 2005 Murano broke at 110K miles. I bought the Dorman aftermarket part and after watching all the videos I could find, I felt this was the most helpful, especially if you're trying to avoid complete disassembly. The removal of the two nuts under the seat cushion was definitely the most difficult, and I wouldn't even attempt it without a ratcheting 12mm wrench like Lorth Dradig used in the video. I would also suggest trying to get the new bracket into as close to the same position as the old one before installing it as it will greatly help lining up the two bolts that connect the bracket and threaded rod that control the seat height. I was a bit off and had to wrestle with the articulation of the bracket to get the holes to line up properly. I also found that there was no need to remove the wiring harnesses connected to the side panel with all the switches, so that saved a bit of time. Thanks to Lorth Dradig for a very helpful video!

My front seat driver side bracket broke, ordered the bracket on line. The day after it arrived, I found you RU-vid Video followed the procedure. I had all finished and back in the car 3 Hours. Thanks for the video.

Was able to replace mine in two hours. Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video. The wife was tired of the cargo strap going from the drivers seat back to the passenger seat back to help hold the drivers seat upright. Just a reminder to raise the seat all the way vertical before you unplug the power. After I had the seat out and started removing the bolts on the bracket there must be a spring the extended the bracket to full vertical. I had to install the seat and plug it back in so I could run one of the seat motor to get my last two bolts in. No big deal but just took a little more time. Thanks again.

Me too. It's crazy how so many of us have gone through this same issue. Almost feels like it should've been a recall. Same for me. Took me about 2 hours total to get it all done. I didn't have to take the side panel with the buttons, nor did I have to fiddle with the rear of the seat or any plugs there. The toughest part after tightening the nuts under the cushion (not easy) was lining the bracket up with all the other parts of the seat. The way the part came in it was very compact, but the rest of the seat parts line up at specific points and it's not easy to know this before you start putting it all back in. My suggestion to other people trying this is to try to line the bracket with the sides (specifically right side) when the part is not in yet so that you have the best chances of things fitting in nicely. Maybe it was just me, but this was the most time consuming part. Thanks Lorth Dradig for this video. Very useful and very helpful commentary.

Just finished installing the Dorman repair piece for my 2003 Murano seat.. I'm pretty handy - but those damn nuts under the cushion just killed my! I have a ratcheting 12mm wrench and it was still a major pain. I wish I had tried to unbolt the seat-back like some were suggesting on these comments. Either way - A BIG thanks from posting this helpful video!!

Thank you Chad. I watched your video several times and had it on hand while I disassembled my car seat. I had the bracket welded professionally which cost NZ $30. Your video was very thorough and although my car is a right hand drive it wasnt a problem...so once again, thanks very much mate.

Followed step by step for my 07 Murano SL using the affiliate linked seat bracket, worked perfectly for me. One thing I'd recommend is when taking the seat out adjust the height to it's maximum point for easier access to the floor mounting bolt, and some ratcheting flex head wrenches make the job much easier. You'll need a philips head screwdriver and an assortment of 12 and 14 millimeter sockets and wrenches. I also used an elbow which makes getting to some of the bolts much easier, all the sockets I used were 3/8 inch because 1/2 inch would be too big and I don't have any 1/4 inch metric sockets.

Lorth, Awesome video. I was able to access the bolts under the cushion by using a Flat Pry Bar to suppress the cushion from the back of the seat. As you describe towards the end of your video, moving the fabric from the back (that has a long white clip holding it on) you can get access to the cushion and position a pry bar to push the cushion down far enough to put your hand on the nut to twist it on/off with a wrench. Took me just under 2 hours. I consider myself a home mechanic, with no training. Be patient, and you can do this. I owe you for saving me hundreds of $ in labor.

Thanks Lorth, very helpful. As you said, it requires some dexterity to get at the two nuts under the cushion, I was able to get them out with a struggle, but couldn't get them back on the new part. Then I removed the 4 bolts holding the seat back to the seat and let the back separate a little from the seat. Very easy to get at those nuts with the seat back dropped down a bit.

Thanks for the video, I was able to do the repair on my wife's Murano following your directions. What helped me with the difficult bolts was after setting it on the ground I kind of stepped on the seat cushion with my foot allowed me better access with my 12mm 'ratcheting type' wrench. :)

Thanks Chad, step by step was super helpful. Just make sure to raise the seat up before you unplug it, especially with the fractured bracket, the holes will not line up right otherwise -- i had to plug mine back in halfway through.

Thank you so much and even though it took me extra 2 hours because I strip one bolt, it was easy and worth it. One thing I did that helped a lot was unscrewing back from the bottom and it opened up a space for those “hard to get bolts”. Thanks again and I appreciate it.

Thanks so much for the video very helpful! !! 🤬WARNING!!!!🤬 for anyone attempting this… pack plenty of patience! The two back nuts for the bracket that attach to the seat frame are extremely frustrating but like he said it can be done. Take your time and be careful because like he stated the metal is very sharp… good luck hope all goes well…

Seems like all of us Murano owners are having this issue. I guess I was lucky and mine didn't break until 118K. But I did find a perfect solution to keep the seat stable until I can fix it...the car jack! It fit almost perfectly on the arm of the broken side of the bar. The jack is basically pushing the broken arm against the support where it would bolt in if not broken. It literally feels normal again. Should have the part in a few days but I just felt it was unsafe driving it the way it was. I literally felt like I was going to fall out of the car everytime to turned right.

I've got similar problem on my UK 2007 Murano. Drive back left seat support broken. I have the aftermarket replacement part and will attempt to fix it myself! Its a disgrace that so many Muranos have the same issue; sounds like a manufacturing issue and should have been a recall.

Thank you! I knew there had to be an easier way, and this video proved it. Much appreciated. BTW, what size wrench did you use for those nuts under the seat cushion? I'm looking to buy a ratcheting wrench set, but they're really expensive.. so I am looking at a 5 or 7 piece set.. just want to be sure the correct size is included with the set.

@marcelo1028 8 лет назад
the under the seat cushion screws are easy to remove if you first remove the screws that support the back part of the seat once you remove them you can really get in there very easy.. way better than pushing down on the seat.
@ChadAmiot
@ChadAmiot 8 лет назад
I'm not really sure what screws you are referring to. Are you talking about the bolts that hold the back of the seat to the seat bottom? It's really not that hard to push down on the cushion to gain access to the nuts, as long as you remove the springs first. The purpose of my video was to avoid having to disassemble more of the seat to replace this bracket.
@marcelo1028
@marcelo1028 8 лет назад
yes those screws, it was really easy to take the back part of the seat apart just a couple screws made the job much easier for me..

Thank you for the video. I would like to trade my driver seat out and found one at a salvage yard. It looks the exactly the same with all the same buttons but they said this one they have has heated. Do you know if that would work if my current Murano doesn't have heated seats?

It should work. You just won't be able to make use of the heated part of the seat.

great video my father's murano has the same issue. did you fix the air bag light?
@ChadAmiot
@ChadAmiot 8 лет назад
No, I still haven't fixed the air bag light. My mechanic said it is probably an intermittent problem since it doesn't show a code. I can reset the light but it comes back, sometimes within minutes, sometimes the next day. The mechanic said it is most likely the clock-spring. He said you can have an intermittent connection problem that may not trigger the light until you start messing with the system. I hope to replace the clock-spring soon and then update in the comments.

Lorth Dradig man.... They were a pain! But I got it... I'd like to advise people who replace this to part to put some WD-40 on joints of new part, or axle grease... The new part was really stiff and was causing a strain on the seat motors. Thanks for the video, I watched a few and yours was definitely the one I went with! 👍👌

For the two tricky nuts, I removed the seat back (4 bolts...left the wiring intact and twisted it out of the way). Then unclipped 3 plastic fabric holders and was able to pull the foam down far enough to gain access with a 12mm combo ratcheting wrench. Tight squeeze, but not difficult at all.

I have a airbag warning light after performing this procedure. I may have forgotten to disconnect the battery at some point while messing with the connections under the seat. I'm not sure if I damaged a connection or a wire but I can not get the light to stay off. I have gone through the reset procedures but the light comes back within minutes. If anyone has any suggestions I'd appreciate it.

You took off the negative battery cable but u hooked it onto the metal battery bracket hold down so its still technically grounded to negative from the frame
@ChadAmiot
@ChadAmiot 9 месяцев назад
@@imbrok3n882it is absolutely not grounded to the battery. If that were the case, then you would still have power throughout the vehicle. The problem was that there is a capacitor for the airbags, which holds charge for up to 20 minutes after disconnecting the negative terminal. I was not aware of this at the time. It's designed like that so your airbags will still discharge if the battery is disconnected during a crash.
