I came across an accident where one driver had life threatening injuries, police and fire had not yet arrived. I grabbed my trauma bag and started to provide first aid to the driver. There were at least 20 people standing around making photos and videos, blocking the first responders. And while I was helping the injured driver, my trauma kit was stolen. We are doomed unless our society changes.

By law, each accused person is a suspect until adjudicated guilty by a court of law. Even if caught on surveillance camera. If the news presumes guilt prior to a conviction, they get sued.

For two reasons: the 8th Amendment says we have the presumption of bail, which can be overcome by evidence of dangerousness or risk of flight (shown in a court of law and if the prosecutor fails to do that, blame the prosecutor) and at common law we are innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
@@JohnDoe-hm4ek A criminal case goes thru stages. The preliminary question of bail is not addressed as a guilty or not guilty determination (which is solely for trial, not a hearing on release). The prosecutor must put on sufficient evidence of flight risk or dangerousness to deny the accused bail in most situations. Failure to provide evidence to the court is the prosecutor's fault, not the judge's. Evidence must ultimately be tested for reliability in a trial and with the full rights of cross-examination but with other evidence, that video might be enough to justify denial of bail, so I wouldn't think it would not be too hard for the prosecutor to establish dangerousness, no, but if the accused was released, I blame the prosecution for that.
Here's a interesting story: I was renting a room at one time and a few months later this black guy rented a room from an apartment up front. He would always call me weird. The next day I find out he stabbed his roommate the night before and I even have crime scene photos. Who's weird now?
