Thanks to your ongoing support and viewership, we were able to make a $5,000 contribution to Rachel Morin's Reward Fund, which brings the total to $35,000. We hope it may encourage those who know something to come forward and help the authorities apprehend the individual responsible for Rachel's murder. Read the official press release here and get more info on Rachel's case ricelawmd.com/reward/
I saw articles in our local news mentioning your contribution. Thank you. It’s scary thinking this person is/was in our state, though he’s proven he really could be anywhere continuing to perpetrate these attacks on women. 🖤
Thank you guys for making a contribution, it might well be someone who lives within a community in LA or Maryland that gives his name because of the reward money. All tips are Anonymous too, they just need this creatures name because 100% he will strike again.
The FBI arrested Victor Antonio Martinez-Hernandez (23) in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He will be charged with first-degree murder and first-degree rape when he is extradited to Maryland. Also Sheriff Gahler was right, this was (allegedly) not his first murder..!
I feel the need to say ..when I was assaulted, I felt the need to calmly walk him out. I even let him hug me...I smiled with terror as he exited my home. Tears balling up in my vision as I shut the door and immediately went to throw up. You just never know how you'll respond and my instinct was do whatever he says and don't set him off.
This is the first time I hear my experience mirrored. It was so bizarre thinking back now. I'm quite sure that was the time frame something in me split. My brain couldn't comprehend what had happened.
The fact that her family CHANGED the gofundme should be illegal! People donated to her funeral and HER CHILDREN...not SOME of her children and not for her family. If it was written that way to begin with then absolutely but since it wasnt written that way....the funds were not donated to family members but to her children and for her beautiful funeral. Its sad that all this happened and then this beautiful gift is being tainted.
He also mentioned that that's how trusts works but what's left or is how and who is managing the trust because the Twitter can charge the trust to pay themselves for their time spent 'managing the trust'. It seems sus. I set up a trust with a different Twitter but I also have a person designated that can't override the trust and the true had to provide that person all records It's to be sure the trustee is handling it properly
Rachel's oldest 18 year old being excluded from the go-fund-me when it started getting a lot of money, is SUPER sad. All of her kids deserve access to the go-fund-me.....that was originally made for them!! Yikes
Right? Especially in this economy, how many 18-year-olds are truly moving out and doing everything on their own? A lot of them are staying at home while they go to school, or even just living with parents so everyone can share bills.... Who decided that this particular 18-year-old is just SOL? I hope the other kids make sure everyone benefits.
@@missychan63I agree and as a mom of 3 who are 21, 24 and 25 (he’s autistic) all stayed at home to save, and our oldest will live with us as long as we’re alive. If something happened to me I’d want every single one of my children to have access to the money. Most of the time they’re give the money when you’re over 18. Now I understand whomever is taking care of the 4 minor children may need help bf 18, but I just feel this all went down in the wrong way. I really just wish nothing but the best for all 5 of her children. Truly so heartbreaking 💔
The sheriff is 100% right. He didn't say he's a serial killer, he said he's a serial killer in the making. The escalation of his crimes and the changing MO prove it. He's learning and he's only becoming harder to catch in time. He went from assaulting someone in their home, leaving the victim alive and almost getting caught fully on a security camera to murdering someone in a relatively isolated place with no eyewitnesses. He's also not bothered by the fact that the police are looking for him. I don't know why anyone would get mad at the sheriff for telling the truth. Oh, and I know why that lady is a former FBI agent. Not recognizing a clear pattern is mind-boggling to me.
yeah, this is true. it's a pattern in the making. someone doesn't just wake up one day and think "I'm going to assault someone in their own home" then go back to living an ordinary life with absolutely no interference first. he got away with it despite being caught on camera! he immediately got so much bolder and smarter with his next attack. classic pattern! expressing concern that this man has the POTENTIAL to become a serial killer is totally valid.
Another thing is that he saw the doorbell camera and was ready for it when he exited so if you looked back at the videotape and the digital data might even help you find the date to search back on, but I bet he’s recorded on that camera prior to the footage we all just watched in this video. Also whatever he’s carrying he intended for it not to be seen and it’s not just a sweatshirt, there’s something firm or even solid possibly that he’s hiding in the sweatshirt.
@@user-nf7ui7dz1zif he was seen prior to exiting it would have been released. It's said in this story that the police said there was no other footage of him and that he may have got in through the window.
Just a random correction, for children over the age of 1 it’s not referred to as SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome) it is SUDC (sudden unexplained death in childhood). SIDS is for deaths of infants up to the age of 1.
IMO the 'arm' person was an unfortunate victim of this intruder/perpetrator, whom he may have been stalking. She was ambushed by this stranger who broke into the house and she went into survival mode, enduring the assault and then somehow able to convince this stranger that she wouldn't report it, and maybe even played it off that they could see each other again. The brain goes into protection mode. He had also likely run out of rage energy by this point and so she was able to coax him out of the house, and thus shutting the door firmly after he left to make sure he couldnt return. There was then most likely a shock response and disbelief, but she still reported it to LE. When he found out she did indeed go to the police he skipped town. Unfortunately he learnt from that and determined not to get caught, he murdered his next victim. This is why LE said he was escalating and shows signs of being a serial killer with zero intentions of stopping.
That was my thought as well. It would also explain why they can’t give an accurate description. Her brain has probably blanked out the details due to trauma.
Thank you dearly for covering this case. I did not know Rachel personally but I am very close friends with Richard and I know how happy she made him. Any coverage is going to help find the monster who did this to her 🥺 it’s surreal hearing you guys cover a case in my own home town.
I’m from Harford County also and was super surprised to see this case covered. I’m so glad it’s getting more attention. I hope they get the justice they deserve.
This happened in my town. It shook everyone. There’s a popular gofundme going around, do NOT donate to it. None of the money has gone to support the family or kids. If you want to support, it’s best to donate to the family directly.
@brachms it is not desolate there. The town of Bel Air is a small area but the county is very developed. She undoubtedly passed many people on her run. That's why it was so shocking here
@@erikahajiantoni899 So he probably was stalking her for alot of time before he got his chance of being alone with her on the trail, and just kept the rock in his hand while following her?
Same! And I’m not an emotional person AT ALL but that got to me a bit! My son is the same age as her & Rachel & I born two months apart .. what a punch in the gut! Bless her heart 😢
I always thought the episodes on Criminal Minds were far fetched, but each true crime episode just shows how 'normal' these bizarre cases really are....
Most of them are based off of real cases and then dramatized. Some are less dramatized than others, and some are super dramatized, but every single one is based on some terrifying case. It’s crazy rewatching those episodes and recognizing the events of a real case.
@@mararodz9264exactly. they have a tendency to sugar coat the brutality of various real crimes that they base their episodes off of. gotta be digestible to a general audience.
Fuck don't walk alone or walk with a big pit bull or mastiff etc big dog and keep pepper spray on you at all times . ❤❤ So sorry to hear family, friends and her local community 🙏
I am wondering why you both feel safe walking on this desolate trail? Just curious if your town is very safe or is not as desolate as shown on the news?
@brachms most small towns are safe, and it's not that desolate. You can never predict when a crime will happen or where. Anyone can be a victim, at any moment. why live a shell of life, in fear?
@@j.sargent9172 I live in the area, it’s not the suburbs or as safe as people think it is, you definitely have to be careful and cautious all over the county, murders, kidnappings, rpes, etc happen regularly
Hi guys. Please do a podcast on the Library of Alexandria!! You said before that you wanted to but haven’t yet. That would be so interesting. I love you guys so much. Keep up the good work ❤😇🥰
I literally said the same thing in the last video as well as a deep dive on the Vatican. I binge thru their old ones all the time and the list of topics I desperately want them to talk about that they have mentioned they will is ridiculously long lol
Coucou Tatie kendall et tonton j'espère que vous allez bien j'ai hâte de découvrir cet nouvel épisode merci de partager cette vidéo captivante bonne journée je t'aime fort Tatie 😊❤
This happened close to where I live. It's scary because there have been many other women going missing. There is an active search/case for a woman that went missing in the early days of November 2023. It's a very scary realization that our "safe small town" is no longer safe.
OH My Gosh 😮. I live in a small coastal town in SW Oregon. I was followed by a man in a Ford truck in a parking lot when I was trying to walk on a trail around a lake. He kept re-parking closer to me and was then facing me, eyes dead-locked on me before I even got out of my car. That walk out in nature never happened. At the elk viewing station in broad daylight, a trucker parked and kept his eyes on me without exiting the cab of his 18 wheeler. I noticed a couple watching me and this going on on their way to their van , so I walked over to my car and got in. They did not pull away till they saw I was driving away. My friend has been followed home and had other things happen to her. I think this area / state has been dangerous to women alone for a long time, even though I moved here to be outdoors.
Bullshit, I also live so close to the area my coworker was literally jogging on that same trail at the same time when the police found this woman’s body, the only other missing persons cases have mainly been runaways or solved,
@@contessacoddington8053 I get that, although I can’t give away my source, I can promise theyre not connected, while people go missing regularly I do hope the lady you’re referencing is found, but it’s unlikely it has any connection to this case,
OK ladies, no walking on your own in the day, night, city, wilderness, even your own home. Don't live alone, whatever your do, let's just lock ourselves in a box so that we are free of male violence.
@Darker_voids well when men are responsible for 96% of assaults and homicides, and as almost every single woman has been sexually targeted or assaulted by men in their lifetime. I'd say maybe not, hmm?
@@shaneemoretgrowthacademy that is a great idea! Too bad it's probably been too long since he got it for them to remember him. Who knows though, he might have said something weird that stuck with someone!
They need to be taking these pictures into salons and barber shops. They also need to ask the community if they’ve worked with or know anyone with similar description who left the city abruptly.
OMG her brother in the tunnel is SO powerful. I have two little sisters & I cannot IMAGINE getting that type of news about them. It would shake me so deeply & devastate me for the rest of my life. Someone you’ve known their whole life, grown up & shared your childhood, memories & secrets with. Powerful but so sad!
Kendall- thank you so much for covering this. My best friend lives in bel air and I live right across the line in pa. This is something we haven’t forgot and has weighed heavily on our community. I sincerely hope she gets justice. This is something that needs to be spread nationwide, as he really could be anywhere. Thank you again, from pa, Md, and beyond. 💕💕
I am disgusted by the change to the go fund me and the mishandling of the pizzeria money. Hopefully a lawyer will agree to probono work in the fraud case against the sister.
Regarding the sheriff saying a serial killer murderer her, I would rather he say this, rather than downplay it and say it was a random fluke that she was murdered. So citizens can be forewarned and aware. Just my thoughts.
I would have thought that it would be illegal to change the wording of a GoFundMe once people have donated in reliance on the description: I would think this wording forms part of a contract.
I suggested this case to you guys a little while ago, thank you so much for covering it!! It happened close to where I live and the lack of development drives me crazy. I hope she gets justice.
I think the children should get an attorney of their own and get their money! Then that attorney can advise them on what to do with it! Rachel was a beautiful woman! Almost the same age as my oldest daughter! I cannot imagine her mother’s pain! God bless her family! Love and blessings!❤❤
Perhaps the frightening situation removed logical thinking and remembering to mentally note specific details from the equation. Still, so frustrating :/
I think it was a minor who was the victim, possibly following him out to shut the door and lock it behind him and make sure he couldn’t come back in that way.
Wow Kendal so you’ve managed to get me watch all of your videos on the personal channel, than the sesh, now I’m hooked on mile higher😂 oh you got a fan in me baddd
I live in the DMV and I haven’t heard of this case. I hope Rachel’s killer is caught soon- it scares me that he’s committed awful crimes on both coasts. He could be anywhere. I hope he can be found before another woman is attacked. So awful. May Rachel rest in peace.
When it happens in children under 1 year of age, it's called sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). In children 1 year of age or older, it's called sudden unexplained death in children (SUDC).
I grew up in/around Bel Air and this absolutely rocked our community. I'm so glad you guys are covering it because honestly no one around here is really talking about it anymore. I could talk about so many details about the area as I've been on the Ma & Pa trail more times than I can count.
Someone in that Maryland community knows this man. There is just no way that he *randomly* decided to visit some tiny-ass town on the other side of the country after living in Los Angeles. I guarantee you he was visiting friends or relatives.
My friend was missing for 5 days, her relatives ended up finding her body after the cops supposedly searched. The sad part is most people who come up missing in Louisiana don’t even get looked for at all. It’s a catch 22 if you don’t help look for these people that come up missing, many times they’re never found and if you do go look and find the deceased person, you become a suspect. You can’t win many times.
I agree I've heard so many times that the person who finds the deceased is automatically a suspect in the eyes of the law and even the people who live in the town. In fact I saw one recently where the man who was finally found to be the Golden State killer/BTK actually killed the wife of this man and the mother of his two children and he had to live with that for 18 years . ACTUALLY I DO THINK THAT IT WAS BTK THAT DID IT AND IT WAS FINALLY FOUND OUT WHEN HE ADMITTED ALL OF HIS KILLINGS
@@peppiholliday4525 it’s really tragic. Can you imagine the pain of not only losing a relative but also being the main suspect and at times these people are being charged with murder. It makes me want to cry when I see these cases where they finally realize they have the wrong person in prison 20-30 years later. No amount of money can make that situation right.
@@teemarie5478 Are Are you referring to the Jessica easterly case by chance ? I remember watching Kendall cover it & the lack of effort by the NOPD was infuriating. I’m super sorry for everything you & your loved ones are going through ❤
Sudden Infant Death Syndrome doesn't make sense to me for someone who isn't an infant. She wasn't even a toddler anymore. Makes me believe that something else killed her and the doctors couldn't figure it out so they just ruled it as that when she wasn't an infant. They should have listed her death as undetermined.
I thought the exact thing… I even said out loud “4 YEARS?!” Cuz damn that’s terrifying it can happen to a child that “old” for a SIDS death. I sure hope Rachel’s sibling is doing OK 😔
I watch you guys and listen to the pod all the time and I’m so happy you’re covering this case!! I have lived in the neighborhood lining the trail all my life and it was truly one of the scariest things to have happened in our area. The ma and pa trail and bel air in general has a safe reputation, this case really shook up the community and we still don’t have answers! I go on the trail every week and have remained extra vigilant.
I remember hearing this story. It's amazing for local businesses and schools of the community come together. I love running/walking nearby trails and my neighborhood. Again thank you for spreading awareness about this story. My husband laughs when I show him what I'm wearing, where I'm running and for how long, "What a privilege" I tell him. Be safe out there people!
It's hard to not think that Michael could be involved. I fully understand and can agree that it makes sense that as a former parks and rec officer/ranger/worker, he would quickly jump to thinking about the tunnels. That's not what raises an eyebrow. It's the way he spoke about her body and was a little too happy to describe the scene. I found it disrespectful to family. That would hurt me if it were my loved one. And the fact he so desperately wanted the credit for finding her....very odd. But he could just be an odd guy
That tunnel where she was found is not her final resting place, it's where her body was found. Please don't remember her being in a sewer.... Remember her being the beautiful mom that she was... Her final resting place is her burial spot.
Did anyone think to check her following and followers on social media? Or check her past dating apps. Just something to think about. Sometimes people on social can surprise you and maybe checking those followings could help!
I disagree. The guy is clearly escalating and could be headed into serial territory, if he hasn’t already. If he’s committing crimes across state lines how would they know? It could take years to connect another crime(s).
Grizzly true crime posted a video where the sheriffs discussed what is happening in the video on a podcast. I believe it’s the brother of a family member who walked in on family members being violently assaulted and they immediately called police after kicking him out. The boy was a minor I believe and the guy broke in through a different window/door.
My sister and nieces live 5 mins from her tanning salon. I live in Towson for about 5 years live and traveled to all these places crazy! So happy to be living in Hawai’i now ❤❤❤
So heartbreaking. I hope they find this guy and the family gets some closure. I can't believe no one has come forward to identify this guy yet. Someone has to recognize him!! Don't be afraid to send the tip in and help get this person off the streets
This happened in my hometown and I went to school with the sherif’s daughter. I grew up hiking the Ma and Pa trail. It truly used to be such a safe area 💔 thank you so much for bringing attention to this
I just hate watching poor Kendal listen to the suffering these moms go through. Mile Higher just does so much to help these families and I know it’s not easy on them. Thank you guys for advocating even when it breaks all of our hearts.
32:40 I'm in the LA area and saw this video when the assault was in the news. Never have I heard that it was related Rachael's case. It's important info.
Yall should look into Amber spradlin case prestonsburg ky. She was murdered (stabbed) in a house full of people. The house belongs to a dentist who also owned the restaurant she worked at. The case is unsolved. 🤔
i don’t understand why people judge other people for doing these things to make them feel more confident. if i had money id do the same! it doesn’t change who you are on the inside
This trail is literally maybe 10-15 minutes from me. Hearing about this was absolutely heartbreaking and so scary for it to be so close. Thank you for talking about this ❤
Dear Lord, the words of that family let me fiscally affected. Have to stop my car because it is impossible to drive when your eyes are full of tears. God give strength to this family, making their hearts find peace and justice in their lives.
This is such a sad case. My heart & prayers go out to her children & the rest of her family & loved ones. Thank you guys for covering Rachel’s case. I hope that she & her family receive justice soon.
I really wish we could have cameras everywhere and while cameras are fairly cheap these days, there are so many other costs IT related on the back end. Storage/server space, software support, cellular connection and so on. My husband is an Network Systems Admin for our local PD, so I hear all about his budget lol.
I was literally just thinking about this the other day since I live in the area and haven't heard anything about it since the initial flood of coverage
Just watched this episode today, hadn’t heard of the case and immediately looked it up, and just saw an arrest was made a few days ago! Incredibly heartbreaking, but I hope this means there will be justice.
Someone knows that man. I saw a video of someone stealing something one time and as soon as I seen the video, which was blurry and you couldn’t see their face, I ended up knowing exactly who it was based off the way they walked and the build of their body. So again, someone definitely knows who this man is. And it’s so sad they don’t even care enough to do the right thing.
Something about the way Michael says "well they wont be having a open casket" just rubs me wrong. They just lost their mom/daughter/significant other and he's on the news speaking so crass about it. Really bothers me the way he just said it so nonchalantly.
