Hey Folks! Meant for this one to come out yesterday but has some major computer issues. Hope this one is still helpful for those going to pre-release Saturday and Sunday :)
My guy ! Just wanted to share some love and thank you for your content. Followed all these tips and literally went 5-0 in my sealed and then 3-0 in a later MKM draft
Just wanted to comment that I won my 50 player prerelease last night with an Assemble the Players deck. 13 out of 16 creatures were hits and every time I played it I won. It’s also extremely useful to look at the top of your deck to make choices regarding how you attack, how you block, when to crack your clues, etc. Won a box!
Went full degen and did 2 flights yesterday…Boros def cracked. Went 5-0-1! Thanks again Marc and Alex for all the work you guys put in! You guys are my go to set reviewers!
Also kind of scared how fast the format is going to be considering all the decks I faced were aggro. The combat tricks in the set are absurd, having investigate tagged onto it
3:45 ngl, I thought the opponent targeted which permanents they would take, and thought the card didn't make sense, but now I realize YOU target which permanents to give them, and that makes the card so much better. Good to know.
Just came back from prerelease, and Case of the Locked Hothouse was actually cracked. I played WUG basically because of it (though pretty much all my fixing was in green, which should have been just a splash color). When you're just holding the board, then suddenly you can flood it with buffed detectives, you're having a good time
Fitting that a Ravnica set would be my first Prerelease, glad to have your vids to rely on. I got second place in my draft from your Dominaria Remastered Guide
Can confirm RW are very good, I think the dragon that is a one-sided boardwipe deserves a shoutout as a bomb, though not as splashable as the ones you shared. I think the gorgon case will be excellent in a suspect aggro deck, and ok in other decks for the other ways you mentioned of triggering it. Built in menace mechanic means you are likely to get a situation where they double block and you can trade with one and finish the other off with the case to get the immediate solve.
Note that your sealed promo can still be the dual lands, so... almost there, wizards, almost there. I opened both Aurelia and Rakdos - that's cruise control right there. Play boosters dropping that last uncommon really feels like it swings the variability; a lot of people were lacking on removal for those two absurd bombs.
my promo was a dual land, and I got a second copy of the same land in a pack....not exactly what I wanted to see. But I got Delney, Teysa and Judith in my pulls so the deck came together alright
Just got home from the prerelease and coerced to kill was truly incredible. Outshone most of my rares. Except for when I got stomped by those loxodons.
Lot of racing during my sealed game with my orzhov deck so the case of the gorgon didn’t shine. I blew up coerced to kill with the white 3 mana destroy enchantment instant while my opponent was full attacking me resulting to a win for me so be aware that auras are still auras 😅
Case of the Gorgon's Kiss was beyond underwhelming for me. In particular, it sneakily has the same problem as Descend as wanting "creature cards". I had 2 Case of the Stashed Skeleton and that led to a lot of Non-bos with the Gorgon and I never got the Case solved. As Marc said, creatures trade off so easily that it's not often that opponents would double block, often opting to just block one and let one attacking creature through. And by the time I got Suspected on a random 2/2 creature, they would just let that through. Altogether I think it's a whiff, at least in Red Black.
FINALLY someone says that Assemble the Players is bad (IMO, it's an absolute F you don't play anywhere ever) in a video like this.... damn.... it's like WotC is lobbying to make content creators say that it's good hahah
Gorgon kiss absolutely unplayable in my prerelease deck. Three times I drew it, three times opponents just refuse to block or get damage at all. Couldn't even trigger the etb effect. I faced a ton of rakdos cards, so that might be also totally matchup dependant
