Tony Koch is very much like Kevin Rudd in that Murdoch media no longer has any hold over him so he can now speak freely without fear of retribution. Thank goodness that people like him and Mr Rudd are speaking up.
Been a growing problem Newscorp never warns on impending dangers. They wait so the disaster can be as large as possible so it is more "entertaining" and a "'show" for them.
Every time a Lib/Nat senator asks a question it's never about what the witness presented and always becomes some sort of hatchet job referencing the QLD state election. This has happened with multiple witnesses now.
It’s extremely obvious what they’re trying to do. When Kevin was being questioned, it was the most idiotic questions being spewed at him. “Pokie machines” whilst talking about the Democracy of Australia, like come on!
I’m in second semester of law school, if I succeed I will somehow find a way to join this fight. The optimistic in me also hopes that this won’t be necessary as it 5 years away if not, wait up ... I’m coming!
@@rileysandpaper8930 FOI Freedom of Information. From memory FBI file and whatever in Australia. Maybe the Aussie one was a biographer of Murdoch that applied FOI forget who in tge US probably investigative journalist. He was introduced to tge White House when Reagan President. Introduced by Donald Trump's little mate Roy Cohn. I know where to find that info but the other I will have to think where I read.
If we wise up and understand that the choices which lead to results in media bias in Australia are driven by spite and contempt for the voters it makes sense.
People keep bringing up "how can News Corp be so powerful if the Labor party keeps winning QLD?"... but doesn’t QLD have a special case of politics? I heard that they had a really horrible experience with a Liberal government for many years ago and the people completely lost the trust of the Liberals there because of it.
Also there are a lot of Independents that will follow either side. Lots of QLDs opting out to vote for either LNP or Labor on the state level. But 2020 was about COVID and most QLDers were happy how Labor kept them safe. But QLD is still a very conservative area we saw federally how QLD helped the LNP get another term and that was all about media coverage particularly about mining and demonising the anti-ADANI movement.
Kevin, you deserve a big thankful from Aussies for exposing Murdoch's agenda in using his media to influence Australian geopolitical perception. It's an intrusion of true democracy and reasonings.
replying to my own comment to add that Mr Koch also received the Keith Murdoch Award. Rupert's Dad's Own Award went to a guy who says Rupert's corp is trash.
Sounds hysterical saying that but I did research for a uni paper on Gina R e i n h a r d t a while ago and essentially had to throw out that computer from viruses.
@Ton Cek the abc follows who hold the purse strings of late its more right wing dominated then left. They also have a charter they have to deliver on which gets harder to do with the more cuts they undergo. Newscorp if u look world wide has a clear right wing bend. From fox in the usa to sky news here. Articles have been written on the rise of the far right and murdoch press. Woke is just a buzz word mate I dont put stock in them.
@Ton Cek Piss off with your whataboutism. The abc is run and chaired by the far right, if you have a problem with their programming complain to scummo.
@Ton Cek The head of the abc is a life long liberal and murdoch media employee named ita buttrose, she was put into place by none other than tony abbott. The board is stacked with liberals. You morons simply assume bias because when you are literally an imbecile, reporting of facts will seem biased.. for example climate change, you might think pointing out scientific facts is biased against you, but facts are facts, you being a moron does not change science.
@Ton Cek The What about ism isn't a valid point. U can use what about ism on any topic and make it seem bias. The trump report isn't discredited btw. As far as the Lnp the focus atm thats simple reporting of current facts cause that who the stories coming out about. The prayer rooms desks rape allegations sexual assault weapons ed by pm. It's not bias its just there haven't been ppl coming forward about other parties. So there is nothing to report. The abc is there to cover what others wont. Farming issues emergency broadcast of fires flood cyclones ect and as a counter balance to private news media. So stories that don't make $$ for ppl like murdoch and for those murdoch silenced. Like labor atm with only negatives spins on everything its not good journalism and ppl cant make a choice with out the real honest facts. Yet Even the abc cuts off albo broadcasts.(those in power can still use funding holds the abc hostage) There needs to be a counter balance. Hence why we need a royal commission. So the abc can not be in the tug of war of political parties as it tries to forfill its charter and a more diversity in media will mean labor and lnp both get far coverage. The abc isn't the enemy they are a victim of a less diversity in media.
Sky should not be doing *ANY* news. Sky was *only ever* supposed to broadcast to pubs and clubs with feeds of racing(horses and greyhound dog race meets). Nothing else!

Thanks Kevin for sharing this! Is this live streamed for the public from an Aus gov website? If so is there more talks like this and what is the site? I also have a question for anyone seeing this, where do you get your information now if you aren't following murdochs propaganda ?
I said the same thing about national security if you don't have an effective communication channel to your people in the time of War disaster the sheets going to hit the fan no one's going to be able to be communicated and lots of people will die... thank God for the amateur radio community..73s
@@llewenshepherd-ashby3267 murdoch doesnt have a monitary monopolly and thier comentators are more diverse than is being portrayed. I had the same opinion untill i actually watched beyond the likes of Bolt and was supprised as they definatley takes LNP to task.
That's exactly what happens in Adelaide. The ABC Radio use the Advertiser, the Sunday Mail, and the Australian for all their morning "issues of the day" and Murdoch owns every one of these papers. This then feeds into the rest of the day and the evening ABC TV.
And guess who runs the ABC? ita Buttrose and guess who ita buttrose "used" to work for ? MURDOCH :D .. so guess who runs the ABC under Liberals and nationals .. you guessed it RUPERT MURDOCH .. oh btw where did Particia Karvalas and David Speers "used" to work ?:)

While some of the thing Tony had to say were very interesting, I found this video so frustrating. One could not accuse Tony of being cogent, eloquent, concise or having the ability to answer a question. Tony is the reason why people outside of the media don't like journalists and rank them next to used car salesmen. He sounded drunk, talked in word salads and desperately tried to avoid answering any questions with red herrings. I don't think he actually answered a single question. He went off onto some story with every question. However, some of the things he said around the tyrannical Murdoch empire were very interesting, so I'll credit him that.
I think he mentioned that he had a stroke which probably explains some of his slurring and cognitive decline. Yes he rambled a little but still was very informative
Koch clearly said he was never directed on how to write a story EVER !!!! Where is the story? This is all about a difference of opinion - guess what!?! That is allowed!!!

@@skoolmedia yeah, but to be fair, we might understand it, but he still controls much of the media and this government needs it shoved down their throat to do something about it. It's not subtle, but probably important to do this right. Personally, I still think nothing will happen.
