She's not raising Suzannah, the child she wanted so badly that it dominated several seasons. Even from a fictional standpoint it doesn't make sense. Her child is being raised by a nanny but knows her parents. The Julia character is a career woman first and she is good at what she does. That may or may not work well in a marital relationship. As a parent it leaves the most important relationship in a child's life to a hireling. Being a parent is constant and that constancy is not in calling to make sure someone else is with your baby, nurturing, teaching, loving, being worthy of their trust. The world needs devoted parents more than anything else but God Himself. If a person is not willing for the tradeoff of raising their children well or fulfilling their desire to have a career they are refusing to make a choice that must be made or contribute children lacking wholeness.
