Murphy & McNeil/Blackmountain Shaving Nantahala 

Murphy and McNeil (murphyandmcnei...) teamed with @BlackMountainShaving (Joe Katon) on a collaboration celebrating nature and how it ties us all together in some way or another. Releasing on October 12, 2019 at 9am Central, this offering features soap, aftershave splash and EdP. The box set will be available only on Murphy & McNeil’s site, but individual products will be available at Maggard Razors (www.maggardrazo...) and Top of the Chain (topofthechain..... A portion of all sales from this release will go to benefit the Nature Conservancy at Nature.org.
Nantahala, named for the Nantahala forest, was crafted to embody nature and the smells you may find. Featuring notes of: Bright Citrus, Lavender, Melon, Rosemary, Geranium, Rose, Pink Pepper, Aquatics, Labdanum, Patchouli, Suede, Fresh Wood, Amber and Tonka, the fragrance smells of the forest on a clear, cool day. This is a complex and masculine blend. It is not all aquatic or all woods, it plays between the genres quite nicely. Mrs. Ruds finds this scent sexy and approves it in all settings. Strength of scent is mid, by design. Try That Soap (trythatsoap.com/) recommends Talbot Shaving Chittenango Creek as a comparable scent profile.
Nantahala is offered in the Murphy & McNeil’s limited Kodiak base. Bear tallow joins beef tallow, duck fat and jojoba. This soap base iteration includes the following ingredients: Water, Stearic Acid, Duck Fat, Tallow Beef, Potassium Hydroxide, Tallow Bear, Castor Oil, Kokum Butter, Glycerin, Goat Milk, Sodium Hydroxide, Shea Butter, Lanolin, Jojoba Oil, Fragrance, Kaolin Clay, Tocopheral, Tussah Silk. The base firm and is quite thirsty. It can handle as much water as you throw at it and when properly dialed in displays a lather reminiscent of Elmer’s glue. Slickness is elite in both the primary and residual aspects. Post shave is elite, leaving the skin feeling luxurious long after the lather has been rinsed away. The resulting ShaveScore for Murphy and McNeil’s Kodiak base is a 99. This base is pure luxury to use. Soap bases with similar performance are: Declaration Grooming (Milksteak) and Barrister and Mann (excelsior).
