Murray riding mower no drive easy fix. The park brake and brakes, not so much. 

I know exactly what they did, its a classic case of, customer changes tires, forgets to re-install the wheel keys. One of the popular small engine channels actually did a video on that very thing most recently believe it or not lol. Its just really sad, cause everything that Briggs touched went to sheet when the company went belly up. They should have been more concerned with how they were running their business, rather then acquiring other's. Cause thats what Sears was doing too, and their dead as well! Anyways, you did a great job as always, fixed the wheels, made adjustment to the parking break, fixed the front tire off the rim. It runs good Ellis, looks good too, congrats.

Casey, You really made a nice tractor for someone. That would make a really nice first lawn tractor being that they are really forgiving and the parts are very easily found from a number of sources as you well know. Speaking of lawn tractors being taller, Have you noticed the newer John Deere lawn tractors and how tall they are now. When I cut nuisance limbs on my fence lines, I can pretty much take my 165 John Deere with its hydrostatic control lever on the right rear fender and literally drive under the overhanging limbs as I take my loppers to cut them back. The same holds true with picking up the cut limbs as I can hook up to one of my lawn trailers up and reach down and pick up the limb and place it in the trailer with really not that much effort. A few days back, My 165 John Deere pretty much quit running in which I replaced the fuel pump/pulse hose and fuel filter as well as all of the fuel hose from the fuel filter to the carburetor. The OEM 1987 fuel hose was really starting to show its age. I ended up blowing backwards through the section of fuel hose going to the fuel tank with compressed air really hoping that I would not have to pull the fender. After hooking up a test tank confirmed my suspicion and the engine ran great - I knew that the hose coming from the tank had to be plugged up. Try to stay cool this week because it’s going to be very hot for the next few days.

To fix the brake you need to get all the dirt away from the rotor and brake shoe assembly first. Then you can adjust the half inch nut on the side of the same assembly inward till it bottoms out then back it out a half turn.🙂

I have a question, I have 1996 murray 40in cut tractor the last time I used it I pushed on the brake and when I let off the brake I was in reverse and I didn't shift it to reverse but now it won't go forward it's stuck in reverse and it won't shift to forward and shifter feels loose, but won't go into forward gear so had to drive it in reverse back to shed, any idea what it might be? thanks in advance.

HEY GOOD VIDEO ,,, I'm 70 years old ,, I've been selling used tractors for 35 years ,,, last year i sold 31 tractors , ,,, so far this year I sold 24 tractors ,,all working good ,, your Murray tractor i would sell for $ 750 Canadian $590 American .. ,,,,,,don't you think you should ASK $650 .. for at least a week or 2 & SEE what happens ???? thx Ed ......Loretto Ontario Canada PS I've done this for 35 years
