I have a question, I have 1996 murray 40in cut tractor the last time I used it I pushed on the brake and when I let off the brake I was in reverse and I didn't shift it to reverse but now it won't go forward it's stuck in reverse and it won't shift to forward and shifter feels loose, but won't go into forward gear so had to drive it in reverse back to shed, any idea what it might be? thanks in advance.
When mine was stuck, it was the shaft going into the transmission that was seized. But that was from rust and lack of use. Maybe something in your linkage has come loose?
thanks for reply, I took fenders and back panel, and battery out and I can see a loose rod but cannot figure out where it hooks up, but when I pull on it my clutch/brake pedal moves, just can't find where it connects. @@MikeGrayM70
