To add to this great presentation: the serratus anterior can aid inspirationally by elevating the ribs it is attached to by rotating the shoulder blades outwards (which equals a widely expanded ribcage) which is important for esp. classical singers to sustain the neurological (therefore mechanical) pattern associated with physiological vocal function. Cheers.

Really nice videos! Thanks for all of them! I spoted a little mistake in this one: The internal intercostal muscles DO HAVE an internal intercostal MEMBRANE as the external intercostal muscles do. But the internal intercostal membrane attaches to the vertebral column (because the run in the opposite direction)

This is great in helping people outside medical fields to get familiar with their body. I often feel exhausted on the sternum area. I feel sleepy, hard to expand chest and feel difficult to breath when it happens. My heart and lungs had no problem after extensive tests. No doctor gave me a clue. It may be some inflammation on the bone, ligament, muscles in that area.

The direction of internal intercostal muscle (and that of innermost intercostal ) is downwards, backwards and laterally not medially.
