Usually in a band, only one member stands out. IE The drummer or bassist or lead/rhythm guitarist or vocalist or lyricist... But Muse is a rare case where EVERY member of the group is a fucking musical genius.
not really rare, anyone can stand out if they want to, or they can leave it to one person if they want to, but i do like the idea of everyone standing out
I've got to agree, this song in particular is nothing but riffs blatantly lifted from various bands throughout the last 30+years of rock. I'd say 95% of the guitar note patterns and riffs could be traced back to other bands.
Totally agreed. Sometimes even bands that have absolutely nothing in common feature the same riff. For example, Stoned Jesus - Indian at 00:37 sounds exacly the same as the starting riff from Mando Diao - Sheepdog. Some stoner rock and swedish grunge band ? I think it's just coincidence. The thing is, there's too mutch music in the world xD Maybe one day even the weirdest drumstep will sound the same
The fact that these 3 musicians found eachother on the same planet, in the same country, in the same town, in the same time is like a gift from some Devine power. Its crazy, unheard of that they all were in the right place at the right time to make this band!
Nah... it's more like they were your ordinary musicians, and then they put the hard work in, grew together, and influenced each other to become who they are today. You are who you surround yourself with.
***** Ohhh, my bad. Playing it, huh? While I can't play an actual bass, the bass lines are still definitely pretty fun to play in piano. Alongside Hysteria and Reapers.
Chris Wolstenholme and Dominic Howard are talented too. Every Member of muse is a very good musician and important. Bellamy knows how to write rock-masterpieces though.
Yes Bass Lightyeah, they're awesome. With all due respect, Matt is the key figure in Muse. Just like Dave Mustaine to Megadeth. Or Rivers Cuomo to Weezer.
Jarryd Mulligan 2nd law its .... idk i love some themes only becouse they sound like WOW but its poor, or its poor to me that dubstep or watever electro, this themes right here are more MUSE MUSE MUSE. Sorry my english, im from argentina greetings! (:
Grande. Una gran inspiracion. Siempre me impresiona. El rock no a muerto... Solo hay que saber donde buscar.
¡Súper de acuerdo! La banda es increíble, incluso el baterista y el bajista tienen unas habilidades que ya no se si pueden ser más perfectas jajaja los amo
If I see anyone complain, I'm gonna flip a table. We have the complex lyrics that Psycho lacked. (Not very complex, but better than Psycho) We have the guitar riffs that Dead Inside lacked. Plus we have one of the sexiest bass lines in history. I love the chorus too! And that outro just kicks ass, especially live! I hope the rest of the songs on the album will be just as good, even though I like the others too!
TYFLOL "You rule with lies and deceit, and the world is on your side" and the rest of the lyrics is more complex than anything in Psycho. I know it's not Origin of Symmetry level, but it's better than what we've heard from the album. I'm excited to see what the rest will be like. Bam, edited me comment.
What I like about Muse is that everyone in the band sticks out, and they also have something for everyone. Like they do stuff like this song but then their is stuff like Mercy which is more alternative.
Half the song is about global warfare and the half of the song is about Kate Hudson.... the slut that would not change, that Matthew wanted to marry, and had a baby with.
This song is pretty much the perfect combination of everything I love lyrically and musically. It's like a 21 mega buffet Chinese restaurant for my ears.
It's very technically impressive but in my opinion that's all it is. It doesn't really flow musically (apart from the parts around where the drums drop out) and feels too segmented.
Letra ❤❤❤❤* Home, It's becoming a killing field There's a cross hair locked on my heart With no recourse and there's no one behind the wheel Hell fire, You're wiping me out, killed by Drones, (killed by) Drones (killed by) You rule with lies and deceit And the world is on your side 'Cause you've got the CIA, babe But all you've done is brutalise Drones! War, war just moved up a gear I don't think I can handle the truth I'm just a pawn And we're all expendable Incidentally Electronically erased By your Drones, (killed by) Drones (killed by) You kill by remote control The world is on your side You've got reapers and hawks babe Now I am radicalized Drones! You rule with lies and deceit And the world is on your side 'Cause you've got the CIA, babe But all you've done is brutalise You kill by remote control The world is on your side You've got reapers and hawks babe Now I am radicalized Here come the drones! Here come the drones! Here come the drones!
This was my first Muse song, played on my local radio station that bills itself as the only real rock station in the area. I thank them for playing this, because when I heard it I asked google "what is this song." Thank God there are still artists willing to play rock.
Your place still have rock radio station? In my country there's none. All are dominated by pop radio and no one fully care about playing rock music again. They'll just play the most famous rock hits from 30-50 years ago over and over again and back to pop music. They don't care if there's a new cool rock song released today.
ABlake77 I've already watched the making of the globalist and defector and I agree, Globalist is also an incredible song, especially the guitar part ;)
This album is like Black Holes and Revelations, only with slight modernisations... This is why I love Muse, they change, just not too much so the old school Muse is still there.
totally true man, I'm sorry for my rude comment earlier. The thing is that, in my opinion, Black Holes and Revelations has so many more good and innovative songs than Drones. For example, Psycho's main riff is a riff that the band has been playing for over 10 years and for example... take the intro of the song "reapers" and now listen to Van Halen's intro of the song "Hot for Teacher". I'm not saying is a bad album, but Black Holes and Revelations had so much more than this one that I find it profoundly difficult to compare them. Sorry again for the rude comment and I hope you have a good day! (: xxx!
It's fine, really. I can actually see why you dislike this album now. Y'know, it's actually kind of refreshing to see someone actually respond maturely and actually apologize on RU-vid, you don't see that quite often. I hope you have a great day as well, man!
Recently I was watching a top 10 best guitarists ever program. Predictably, Clapton, Page, and Gilmour were on the list, with Hendrix as number one. That list really needs updating!!!!! I’d rate Bellamy as possibly the greatest.
+Inked AntiVirus You. You never listened to Buckethead. or John Frusciante. or Tom Morello. or Rabea Massaad. or a shitload of other guitar players. Even Kurt Cobain. Don't get me wrong,I enjoy Matt's solos a lot...but they just sound a bit soulless to me.
***** I don't know if you think I haven't figured it out or if you think it's a problem to do awesome, yet simple music I don't get that "it's bad because it's simple " logic. And don't get me wrong, I also enjoy listening to shredders. I even find some shreds soulful and better than other soulful simpler solos, but simplicity does not determine if I like a solo or not.
Holy mother of all Gods! These guys totally and utterly know how to play their instruments. Very unique and very Muse indeed! Muse fans wanted more rock? Well, there you have it boys and girls. Fantastic!
Its a cool effect how in the first two choruses they mute their guitars after so many bars but in the final verse they just play all the notes. Sounds rad, this album will be amazing
I can kind of see why the released the Drones songs the way they did. Psycho- check out this awesome riff every body! This album is going to be heavy. Dead Inside - that said, there will still be some experimentation so don't expect a drop D anthem for every track. Mercy- but a rock album none the less, don't get me wrong. Reapers- just to let you know before it comes out, there is going to be stuff like this that is both experimental and heavy, and everyone seems to agree this is the best track they've released so far, so maybe they were building up to it... I love Muse. And I am about to fall in love with Drones.
Charlie Burnham , this is a Mutt Lange's trick. For example: Back in Black (AC/DC), Rocket (Def Leppard), All I Want Is You (Bryan Adams), when the guitar riff stops, the voice comes forward. Mutt Lange is a genius.
This song has a great solo. Keep in mind that not everything has to flow in music. Sometimes it's good to disarticulate a song. This solo is innovative. When you thought everything was already invented, here comes Matt Bellamy and does something new, in 2015!! That's impressive. This solo sounds like anything else.
Truly the best live band in the world. Watch the videos from their legendary mega-concert at Wembley stadium in 2007. Unreal. They've won "Best Live Band" awards over and over. Check this - just sick: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2jKa_0xnTfU.html
***** How coincidental; love everything this band has ever done, love this song, love reading these comments, love Halo and absolutely adore your channel. ^_^ Tell Wangtime that I said "good wang."
***** As a long time Muse fan (owning twenty one of their albums and singles,) I can concur that this is album is sounding bloody brilliant, this especially. \^=^/
+Cat Actual such an anti drones song. Drones scare the shit outta me, and the UK have actually started using them in warfare... I'm scared that this album is coming true in my lifetime..
I can't believe this upload went unnoticed by me for a full 24 hours. I have failed as a devoted Muse fan. *EDIT:* Turns out I only missed it by a couple of hours. That's still too long though.
John Doge Yeah since I'm in Australia everything comes out in my early early AM. So as soon as i saw this posted on a random glance on my Facebook via my iPhone in bed… I got up at 100 million miles an hour, raced to the lounge room, shoved the headphones on, and blasted it a few times. Amazing :)
Has anyone else noticed how on the drone cam in the bottom right hand corner there is 'HE-3'? He-3 meaning Helium-3, a reference to Explorers from The 2nd Law. Muse are even cleverer than I thought!
My room's four walls gonna handle that drum/bassline/guitar from today till I get tired of this song, whether they like it or not. I'm gonna blast it hard!!! And seriously, Christopher Wolstenbeast is a legendary badass but is still criminally being overlooked.
Surprised no one has mentioned the MASSIVE nod to the outro in "Freedom" by Rage Against The Machine in this. A song that they have used as a live outro for many years. Not that I'm complaining that Muse are starting to take influence from Rage again...
+Cooro "Snow" Fox I don't see your point? I was backing up the relationship that the band have had with that song, ie I've not just plucked it out of thin air. Psycho was modelled on an original Muse riff not a cover.
Cammy McPherson the entire end of the track is about the same as "freedom", just lack of a ..."Anger is a gift"... in a sweety pumped breath by Matthew De La Rocha "Solo I'm a soloist on a solo list!" Freeeeeeedoooooom yeeeeeeeeahhhhhh!!!! Right!!
I actually think Muse might have had some inspiration from Advanced Warfare. The storyline to that game is pretty similar to the one being told in Drones.
Mercy, psycho and dead inside are the shit of all shit! They're amazeballs! Reapers rocks! I love em! It's better than vegemite on toast... and that's bloody saying something!
KROZ36 Guitar Hero live maybe, but i really don't think it will come on Rock Band as we would of got Muse along time ago for Rock Band as the only song we got was from the first game.
It just gets on my nerves reading those OoS widows complaining about this song and drones as a whole. Good bands evolve and, guess what, it is impossible to repeat an album. We wont see absolution 2, showbiz 2 or oos 2. Get over it. Oh, and if you really dont like it, it's okay, everyone has an opinion. Just stop talking shit about their work.
Pedro Petindá People have been complaining about this one? I've yet to see a negative comment! I agree with your statement regarding their other tracks though, where half the comments are bitching about Psycho's lyrics, Dead inside's lack of guitar, and Mercy's lighter feel.
Alex Wayne Actually, talking shit means saying it sucks, and not saying they don't like it. Saying it's shit is attempting to state a fact (not true) while the other is an opinion.
Alex Wayne Actually, anyone with enough decency to not trash someone's work because they don't like it would agree with my "homemade" dictionary. I'm sorry your decency isn't enough.
She is a narcissistic psychopath trying to kil the next victim. But all.... At home..in slowmo and using emotional warfare. So its legal... Thanks to feminism
I love how Muse blends in tough subjects like this into excellent songs. It's lost on a lot of people though. People don't really give a shed about much
I had to laugh when I realized that was the same joystick I have, the cheapest HOTAS setup you can get. Works pretty good though if you don't need anything too complex.
Goddamnit, I don’t think I will ever not love Muse. Regardless of what style I’m in the mood for, they usually have a song for me if I’m willing to listen. And it always has their specific interpretation, which then makes me want to listen to more of their stuff. Goddamnit.
Grab your guitar, play this song thru the headphones, and try to trace the guitar thru the song.... holy fuck it's a blast! The riffs are fucking beastly! It's like trying to beat Zelda on a guitar....
